It is a bummer. :c But I know in other SMT games you can fuse high level demons into lower level demons like Jack Frost, and then get amazing abilities on him like that. Don't think it works like that in SMTIV, though.

Aww, that figures. I wanted to have an overpowered Jack Frost with good abilities :c

Can't really teach a demon new skills- though mutating isn't too reliable. Better off to fuse the new demon using other demons that know the skills you want the new demon to know.

Good luck with that, it must be hard! Random question, is it possible to teach demons new skills, or do you have to wait until they mutate?

I don't see why it'd be a bad thing. Honestly, I like SMT a bit more than Etrian Odyssey as well, but they're both good. They both got their own perks.
SMT IV is an awesome game. I've actually been trying to get the neutral path on it.

Etreant is a pain. What level is your team at?
If you're doing the story mode of Untold, then it'll be a bit harder without any buffs from a Bard- and having no Survivalist doesn't help too much. Try to get Frederica or our favourite Canadian's :3 \ Raquna's Smite to bind his arms.
Unfortunately, Immunize isn't as great as it was, and all of his attacks are non-elemental. I guess- try to get Raquna to take most of the hits while consistently being healed. If she's not Smiting, Provoke and Defend.
Etreant is really hard with a party like this, though. Try to deal as much damage as possible w/ Highlander and Simon.

I guess you might as well experiment for now- besides, you can always change it sometime later when you get a character to rest.

I won't deny how useful Free Energy is. Gah DJ, you like making me make tough decisions. :x

You might lose TP quicker, but with Runemaster your Healer can get access to another TP Boost and Energy Saver, which is really useful. Then again, your TP will max out at 999, so that TP Boost might not be all that great.
You'll definitely like it. It'll help the Landsknect deal a lot more damage,

Yeah, the only reason I paired Healer/Dancer together is to get the ability to use Energy Tango for my Runemaster in the same row. I was considering Healer/Runemaster, but then I got worried that I might lose TP more quickly and not have enough to heal. As for the Landsknect, I had no idea what to mark him as, so we'll see about that new class.

Landsknect goes amazing with a class you're just about to unlock. Won't spoil it, though. Protector/Healer, you should go for those Auto-Heal/Revives. Can't go wrong with Runemaster/Arcanist, but I don't know if I'd have Healer/Dancer. I guess if it's to have dance effects on both row it'd be nice, but I'd put Healer/Runemaster.
Dancer/Night Seeker is fantastic combo. You'll love it. :3

I beat him on my 2nd try. Sub classes confused me at first, but they seem to be really helpful. You got any good combination suggestions for those? Here's what I did so far:
Landsknect/Night Seeker, Protector/Healer, Dancer/Night Seeker, Runemaster/Arcanist, and Healer/Dancer.

Kibagami- you could try Blinding him. He's pretty harmless with that. Or bind his head/arms with so he can't heal/attack with special techniques.

Speaking of EO4, what's with this random minotaur guy that I need to fight in the middle of the 3rd Stratum. At first I thought he was easy, and I even almost beat him, but then he did this random crazy attack and healed 1,700 damage.

Again, the game doesn't like to give you mercy anywhere. Even if you're desperately trying to run from a group of enemies, and they keep using their strongest attack.
I can only imagine such a reaction. Facing 3 FOEs sound tough. :3

I've been trying to return to EO1, but stuff keeps killing my team. >_< Also gotta love how I open one door and I'm surrounded by like 3 FOEs (wish you could've seen my initial reaction to that )

Eh, EO4 is a real big jump in everything, really- like the story and exploration and stuff like that.
Try to go as far as you can in EO4. You could always stick with it until you need to return to EO1. :p

Well, I caved in and tried Etrian Odyssey 4 after I got stuck on the 2nd Stratum in the first one. The 4th one is definitely a step up from the 1st one- I like playing through that one a lot.

...now I feel bad that I'm playing more of the 4th one than the 1st.

It's nice to have an even level for your magic skills, having a bunch of elements to attack with. Especially for the bosses. :>

So yeah, I had to level grind to get the first level of Fire before I beat him. ^_^;

Oh, Fenrir is a bit of a challenge if the FOEs in the room jump into the battle.
But nice job beating him. Fire worked very well, I assume. :3

I finally beat Fenrir. That guy was easy once I got him away from those other wolves.

Thanks haha- I just got to the 5th floor without any major problems. The inn fees skyrocketed when I got to level 10 though, so I'm making great use of the free healing on the 3rd floor.

It quite it addicting. Though, sometimes dying after not saving for a while does really hurt, Especially if you get ambushed after a tough FOE or something. >.>

I just got down to the 4th floor where I tried fighting wolves and about 4 more entered the battle. Those things are annoying to fight in a single battle...and when poison spells don't work. >_<

Troubadour's are pretty good- but pretty frail. I used one, though. :3

I defeated all of the FOEs in B2. I started freaking out when one started chasing me >_<
Oh, and I ended up swapping my Survivalist for a Troubadour. Those defense songs really help.

Oh- well- I thought Poison, ailments- Yeah. :P
But yeah- Protector's a good choice and- well, it's kinda obvious Medic's a necessity. c:

I didn't choose a Dark Hunter. xD My own character is an Alchemist and I have 4 other party members: Medic, Landscknecht, Survivalist, and Protector.

So I guess you've chosen Dark Hunter for your own- character. I love those kinds of classes- those that're fast with tactics like status ailments. c:
But- hopefully you've chosen good classes for the rest of your party. :3

Ohh I like the sound of that. :3 This game reminds me a lot of Dragon Quest. I've also grinded up to level 3 and started investing my skill points into various things like poison.

Don't worry- it happens to the best of us. : P
Never really underestimate any of the random encounters- and especially the FOEs.
Early in, money is quite hard to make. Eventually, though, later in the game, you'll have so much en you won't know what to do with it. c:

I already got killed by 3 moles ambushing me. ;-; I wish there was a way to make en after battles instead of selling the spoils.

It's real important to be at a high level- though, if you don't run from any of the random battles you encounter in each maze or cave, you probably won't need to. :3 Maybe a bit before each boss.

IV is quickly becoming one of my favourites- though, I did really like III. IV and III are similar in some aspects. :3
II is neat, but I/1 is very- I'd suggest not starting with 1. >.> Just remember, they're really hard. <.<
