Update on the Pixelmon server. I am now a permanent co-owner, and am also an admin of the Facebook page. This ride just keeps getting wilder.

And now I am an owner of the server, albeit temporarily. If that isn't the crunch, I don't know what is.

Sorry about this taking so long. It's been crazy on that server. Anyway, Pixelmon is a Minecraft mod that adds Pokemon and related items to the game. I am currently the highest ranking staff member on the server below the owners, so it's been rough on me.

Random question is random. I like him, he's a cool guy. He once made a board for the members of the Pokemon Club at my high school, only because I mentioned I was advertising this forum there. The club has since disbanded, and the board no longer exists.

Time to get sugerical to McAfee
  54. isbragg
    May 7, 2012 07:34:14 AM
    isbragg
So I reset Internet Explorer to default settings, and McAfee is still giving me a white box. ***** does appear to be fine, though.
  55. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 08:30:03 PM
    Twiggy
***** SHOULD work with the default settings. Set it to defaults anyway.
  56. isbragg
    May 6, 2012 08:25:10 PM
    isbragg
The IE settings used by ***** and McAfee conflict. McAfee is expecting ALL settings to be at their default while ***** expects the Javascript settings be messed with. I prefer Google Chrome as my web browser of choice. IE is only here to make ***** work.
  57. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 08:02:34 PM
    Twiggy
And you might want to reset IE settings completely just in case it got hosed by something else. Usually it's something else causing trouble to IE, and by proxy, the uninstaller.
  58. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 07:58:57 PM
    Twiggy
Or you could look for the other, more well-known engine name in my list of adopts in the signature.
  59. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 07:58:05 PM
    Twiggy
Technically, Microsoft HTML Engine. It's used by a lot of Windows applications for its ease of getting plugged into other applications. There's a very good reason why you want to keep IE updated because seemingly unrelated stuff get improvements from that

    MSCONFIG, anyone?

McAfee isn't in the startup folder. What to do, what to do?
  61. isbragg
    May 6, 2012 07:04:25 PM
    isbragg
The white box is caused by... INTERNET EXPLORER?! Why must one program completely rely on another? I was experiencing a similar problem with ***** previously, and fixed that by changing settings in IE. Unlike McAfee, I actually use *****, so I'm not changing those settings back.* I'm just going to remove McAfee from the list of programs that run at start-up, once I find out how.
*(McAfee's expired; I'm using the Norton provided by my ISP)
  62. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 06:48:10 PM
    Twiggy
The application must be hosed through, then
  63. isbragg
    May 6, 2012 06:05:06 PM
    isbragg
That was a ray of hope that quickly went away when McAfee wasn't listed. McAfee came pre-loaded on my computer so I don't have a product code.
  64. Twiggy
  65. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 07:17:22 AM
    Twiggy
Your McAfee is probably hosed by itself. Hmm...

Looks like your only option is to manually remove the application, along with anything it has done with the registry, as well as the startup entries.

Good luck, you will need it.

McAfee Security Center won't even open! It gives the same white box as when I try to uninstall it. I am not taking the risk of hosing my computer. The only time I've messed with regedit is to write a value that would make a program behave like it should (Steam version of Sonic Adventure DX doesn't save your configuration because a registry value for checking proper installation wasn't written).
  67. Twiggy

It's hard to use Remote Desktop Connection when you're in Safe Mode.
It's hard to do that when it runs the risk of hosing your computer.
It's hard to trust someone over the Internet.

If only I knew someone that was much better at troubleshooting than I am.
  69. Twiggy
    May 6, 2012 07:00:31 AM
    Twiggy
    And what would it be?

(If all else fails, you can certainly try booting into Safe Mode, and start removing the program files directly and excise everything related to it in Registry Editor, but it runs the big risk of hosing your computer. Attempt only on expert supervision.)
  70. isbragg

  76. isbragg
    May 1, 2012 06:55:05 AM
    isbragg
I found that it was loading a dll for a completely unrelated real-time program (not an anti-malware). I took care of that by killing the processes associated with that program, but still have a white box. It also loaded dlls associated with IE, but I use Google Chrome and will not uninstall IE because it's needed by *****. I'm about to give up here.

Now, this is about a failed install, but working backward and given a bit of knowledge on the registry might help. Or you might want to check for registry entries for your old security software. Disable all of them completely before uninstalling them as thebfirst step (don't go on the Internet without protection)

Consider cropping it in something that can handle transparency. May I recommend Paint.NET if you're into quicker editing without too much hassle? I'd also recommend GIMP, but it's overkill if you're not into serious digital art.
