*eyes a 1999 Minolta film SLR in almost mint condition that he can afford*

Then again, film SLRs can be had for cheap, and same thing goes for vintage, but usable glass.

    Film, on the other hand...

    Why not? :3

I'm looking for local deals for old, but working film cameras that use 35mm film. They still got lots of stock of them. Film, that is. As for the cameras... nobody sells them.

I can't blame you. I love 35mm cameras, and with its 1980's design, the Maxxum 7000 is no exception.

By the way, I think you might enjoy seeing my little Canon Canonet 28 if I posted a picture of it. :3

Another thing that irked me about Chrome, was the fact it took up to two minutes to exit on my Mac. I've noticed that Firefox is a little more instantaneous than Chrome at exiting. Chrome is like, "Yeah, I'll shut down... after I deliver about 1,000 more details about <insert user name here> to Softonic," where Firefox is more like, "Orders received. Shutting down at once." At least that's how I look at it.

The slowness of Firefox on my Mac is what made me switch to Chrome. But after a couple months of using it, I got tired of Chrome always disabling my add-ons, so I switched back to Firefox. Funny how Firefox seemingly resolved its own speed issues while I was using the other browser.

Note to self: if you value your patience, try to rely on digital distribution if you play on a 3DS. Even the average SD card is going to be faster than 3DS game cards in general, especially when it comes to saving things.

    4MB/s minimum is sure nice...

Saints Row: The Third is possibly the craziest game I've played in my life

It's like it knows it's a game and...

It's probably one of these things that make you want to play more and more, to see what's the next silly thing they can come up with.

    Awwh...Cute little Zorua. <3

Got the PC in 2009... it was only a couple years old when I paid my brother $250 for it, because at the time he had upgraded to a MacBook Pro.

I think SkyDrive is pretty nice. I too can access it from my phone through the free SkyDrive app by Microsoft themselves. In fact, it had already taken all the tedium out of listing all of my remixes. XD

By the way, I believe that the Core 2 Duo is probably still adequate for most tasks in 2013, including not-too-hardcore gaming

It's more of the OS choice that's the issue, really. It's probably more of the fact that Windows XP is aging at this point.

Come to think of it, XP is like 10 years old.

That picture reminds me of the black 80 GB iPod Video I used to own. Unfortunately, I no longer have it, because its hard drive failed in 2009, but nevertheless, it was a great starter for me. Back then, before I got my PS2, the iPod was my main method of transferring digital video to VHS without burning DVD's.

I still have a 20 GB 3rd generation iPod that I use as an external hard drive via FireWire (aka IEEE 1394). Battery life sucks like crazy, the headphone jack is a bit crackly, and I can only get sound out of the left speaker while it's docked, but I don't use it to listen to music anymore, so those shortcomings don't really concern me.

It's amazing how old iPods can, and will still work today.

I'm going to name it "Phoenix".

It's also funny how early iPods allowed use as mass storage.
Gotta love how the manual uses a generic 4:3 laptop for "computer" with these old iPods. (It's a widescreen one with the iPod classic.)

If it were a Mac, it'd have to be a high-end MacBook Pro with a DVD burner. PC-wise, I'd like to get an Alienware laptop, also with a DVD burner. Even with Blu-Ray being the de facto standard in digital video storage, I still burn DVDs because I can play them on almost all of my devices at home, including the iBook G3, PlayStation 2, and my existing MacBook.

On a totally different tangent, I was at my local music store to price replacement parts for electric guitars, and... for the first time in all my life, I played around on an old Fender Rhodes electric piano at the music store. It... was... awesome. Makes me wish I had $1,200 so I could buy it, but it was a nice experience nonetheless. Next up on my list of keyboards to check out before I die, is a toss-up between the Yamaha DX7 and the Roland D-50.

Toshiba isn't the only company who's used weird model numbering. It's like Yamaha DX synth line back in the 1980's: The DX1 had 64-voice polyphony and was the easiest Yamaha FM synth to program, and as they progressed further in the line (DX5, DX7, DX9, etc.) the synths got harder to program and had fewer voices to work with, making them sound thinner than the DX1.

Interesting. So the P840 has more features than the P845, including a GeForce GPU in addition to HD 4000, 2MP camera, and a fingerprint reader, and screen brightness rivalling a MacBook Air, of all things? Crazy Toshiba numbering.

On a new Windows laptop with Synaptics clickpads:

Click or tap anywhere on the pad to left-click
    Corner-click or two-finger-click to right-click
    Three-finger-click to middle-click
Pinch together two fingers to zoom out or CTRL-Wheel Down-equivalent
Spread apart two fingers to zoom in or CTRL-Wheel UP-equivalent
Drag with one finger at right or bottom edge to scroll vertically or horizontally
Drag with two fingers anywhere to scroll following finger direction (best. thing. ever.)
Place a finger somewhere, another finger somewhere not too close, and move the other finger clockwise or anticlockwise relative to the first finger to rotate items
Flick left with three fingers to go back a page
Flick right with three fingers to go forward a page
Flick up with four fingers to display all running applications
Flick down with four fingers to show the desktop

    Modern laptop pads are awesome.

Well, you know what? Switchable graphics are one thing, but stuff that is on-demand and without display flicker? That's... awesome. Best of all, the colour management is all handled by Intel, so the display doesn't have a problem with the cursor. (NVIDIA cursor acceleration = uncalibrated pointers._

If anything, it should be relatively easy to get a laptop with some form of dedicated graphics without making your wallet cry. These days, if you know where to look, you should be able to get at least a Radeon HD 7550M or GeForce 630M. If the dedicated solution is lower than these, don't bother to play games.

Second Life isn't all impressive when the same laptop chokes on Minecraft. It demonstrates Intel driver inefficiency. (An AMD card from years ago that is theoretically weaker than the Intel HD Graphics will outperform it in most OpenGL-based games, assuming that it can run it)

Seeing how I was impressed with how Second Life ran on my brother's Acer Aspire, I'm probably gonna get the same thing he's got. Unfortunately, I can't remember what model number his computer is, but when he comes down from Michigan for Christmas, I can get the model number then.

As for my MacBook, it's gonna be down for some cleaning, as I suspect that some of the lag has to do with a fan that I haven't cleaned in 9 months. Plus, while I'm under the hood, I might as well decontaminate the CD burner's lens, since it refuses to read from/write to discs.

Gah. After all the maths add up, the M840 seems like a... well, you know... a turd.

Hey, this P840 is still faster than the MBA by a long shot. Dedicated graphics go a long way, huh?

What's the Aspire that you're looking forward into? Most laptops these days that come with NVIDIA dedicated graphics also keeps the integrated graphics, in part due to modern design - integrated graphics on CPU = cutting it out actually costs more.

Definitely wait it out instead of impulse buying. I'm confident that it will be worth it in the long run.

Speaking of buying new laptops, I really should start saving up for the Acer Aspire that I want. Basically, I'd like a laptop that has both an integrated and separate GPU, and is a thousandfold better than my MacBook, all at a relatively low cost.

I'm starting to realize that my MacBook makes a better digital audio workstation than a gaming machine.

    Owl City.

So I am almost ready to buy my next laptop because an MBA just didn't cut it.

Now, there seems to be a warranty problem with M840 which is holding off the purchase for now. Seems like my choices are: wait for a while (possibly up to one week), save some cash but give up international warranty (I'm buying computers out of country for a reason), or impulse buy the P840, which might be a bad idea considering my use case. Headphones, anyone? But sometimes I'm lazy...

Just keep in mind of the kind of feeling that you're aiming for. Sampled instruments, especially shorter/lower-quality samples, may not lend well to harder music.

Also, if you can set it, try fiddling with reverb and interpolation.

Melodies of Life does indeed remind me of my younger days.
Hmm, I can try creating a remix that uses sampled instruments, but I'm not sure how it might turn out.

Ever thought of making a remix that doesn't use your usual synths - preferably, live or sampled synth?

Does playing Melodies of Life remind you of a younger time?

    PAYG, so no contracts, huh?

Do you still remember what other phones you could have gotten?

There were plenty of other phones to choose from, but at the time I bought the T239, I wanted a camera phone that ran for no more than $60. I also didn't want to waste money on a camera phone that could easily break in half if I dropped it, hence I went with the T239.

    o.O

That locked down? There were no other phones back then for you to choose from? It might be actually a basic phone.

The only way I could get anything over to or from the T239 was via email, but transferring files to and from would eat up a considerable amount of credit, hence I never really transferred MIDI sequences that often. I tried using things like Bluetooth and a USB cable, but it seemed as though the cable only could charge the phone, and the fact that Bluetooth was basically only for headset use. Of course, now that I've got my iPhone 4S, none of that really matters now.

Hmm, so about the SGH-T239, there's no way to get any media in there, huh?

Then again a 2012 and a 2009 device in the same class is going to be way different, anyway. I think my 110 is probably faster than a DSi.

Then again, you're talking about something that plays MPEG-4 and H.264... On that 160x128 screen, at least videos look accurate, if very low-res.

"Video Games Remixed" is really just a sample album title. I just stuck that in there because I didn't know what else to use. X3
As a general rule with my audio collection, anyone's allowed to alter metadata and add custom album artwork to better suit their media libraries. Hence, no special permissions are needed. In fact, if you'd like to use my music in any videos, go right ahead. All I really ask is that you link me to the video.

Sorting out lists sometimes tells me a lot about things. Like files that I may have missed...

To make things easier on my side, I'll just label them "Seiji's Originals", "Seiji's Remixes", and "Seiji's Demixes", and a "Seiji's SFX" for good measure.

    What's on "Video Games Remixed"?
