Turning that miniature system into an HTPC is doable for $100. And with its low power usage, you could get a really low-end (wattage-wise, not reliability) PSU whenever the one in it goes, or you could get an even smaller case and a picoPSU:

Of course, with how much you use your current HTPC (i.e. none) it wouldn't be a prospective project for you. But for the sake of argument it makes an interesting conversation piece.

This is the wacky end I had on that universal power supply that went missing. As the Atari has a mono headphone-style jack, you can easily see the problem.

If it costs money, I'd probably prefer simply replacing the controller, so probably the free option for now.

I just checked your SNES controller cable with a continuity tester, and yeah bad cord. Would you like the $5 option for a brand new cable, or the free option of me using a cable from a really cheap aftermarket Genesis controller and the thing will have some kludging on the cord to connector points?

Not without re-wiring, I just need it for the connector (already got two new aftermarket Genesis controllers for $6 shipped off eBay, along with all the arcade buttons/joystick. Just need a housing and see if Travis has the 8 resistors).
