I actually got the idea from when I used to use Venomoth to take Truant away from slacking and give slacking tinted lens. That worked beautifully in double battles, especially if venomoth survived two turns. Then venomoth could give truant to the opponent.
I just realized an error in my strategy, Kray. I said Close combat would raise attack and defense when it's actually defense and special defense. Either way, I suppose it's still beneficial due to Gallade's already-high attack.
Unswappable? I was not aware that there were abilities that could not be swapped. If that is the case, then this strategy may be useless. I can't see any other purpose for spinda having it, though. The only move it learns on its own that would be of any use would be fake tears, but even then it would only work if contrary could pass to another pokemon for spinda to fake tears on. Either that or you have the other pokemon on your team screeching and fake tearing at spinda, but that seems a bit... I guess you could have another member of your team use memento on it, but again, this seems counterproductive. Hopefully contrary is, in fact, swappable. Just think if you could somehow get contrary on an infernape. Overheat and close combat would make for a murder machine. The only way I can see this working is having a pokemon swap abilities with spinda, then swap that ability to infernape.
My eye immediately falls on teeter dance. While the ability "contrary" does not benefit Spinda, it would benefit another pokemon... specifically gallade. Close combat would raise gallade's attack and defense. The other partner would need to be something like Whimsicott or Serperior. Whimsicott would probably work best because of prankster to use safeguard and protect your team from confusion. So, Whimsicott would use a prioritized safeguard. Hopefully gallade and spinda both survive the opponent's attacks. After this, gallade would use skill swap to give either steadfast or justified to spinda, who would then confuse every pokemon on the opponent's team. Then, on the next turn, Whimsicott uses a prioritized Trick room (if it survived the prior turn) to make spinda and gallade (most likely) go first. Spinda could then use thrash, and Gallade could use close combat. On the next turn, whimsicott could start spreading leech seeds or use substitute--both of which would still go first due to prankster. You could also have whimsicott have taunt to completely destroy other gimmick pokemon. That's the gist of it. Safeguard would protect spinda from confusing itself.
Dear visitor to my profile, I desire to reply to your inquisition:
I would be pleased to assist you in your endeavor to properly equip the often-overlooked pokemon, spinda, for battle in a manner that would provide it with adequate provisions for a sporting round of fisticuffs. Though I cannot guarantee that my suggestions will result in an all-powerful deity, I can safely wager that said strategy will, in fact, be rather unorthodox--especially in the case of a rotation battle or a triple battle.
