The misadventures of Cat, Yoshi, and GreenMan
2 Attachment(s)
I really should have put a thread up about this a long time ago. At times, I sometimes meet up with Yoshi, GreenMan, KYA, or a combination of them (although lately it's been GreenMan and/or Yoshi). In this thread, I will post small clips from our gaming sessions we think are quite funny. I'm going to try to dig out some classic clips from my hard drive as well. None of these will have commentary (for the most part) because I believe that detracts from the video. I've got hundreds of hours of game recordings from our meet-ups, so I hope to be able to upload stuff fairly regularly.
Today's premiere clips are from Super Mario 3D World. For GreenMan and me, it was our first time playing the game, so we were both still getting used to how things worked. We didn't have too much trouble before 3-7 (with one exception, which I'll upload another time). However, this pair of videos pretty much explains why adding more players can both enhance and exacerbate the experience of certain exciting levels. I've only included the latter half of the level because the first half was rather uneventful. I'm Peach, GreenMan is Luigi, and Yoshi is Mario. (Videos were captured in 1080i and downscaled to 360p.) |
About
Friggen Time you finally upload these videos after we spend nearly half an hour every time just to set up recording equipment. Oh boy gaming fails involving me, I can hardly wait. |
Who, that's even more death than when me and my brother play two-player Super Mario . . .
Unrelated, but what do you think of SM3D World? Since Peach is a playable character, does it even have an attempt at a plot at all? |

Why haven't you made a youtube channel out of this?

Cat is not a fan of what YouTube has become :P

Time for the next Misadventures clip! This one was from the same session last Saturday. I must start by saying the same as before: for me and GreenMan, it was our first time playing the level. It was really hard not laughing, which activated a lot of the platforms inadvertently (and once advertently ;)). Like before, I'm Peach, GreenMan is Luigi, and Yoshi is Mario.

We were messing around with a glitch in level 3-1 in Super Mario 3D Land. Just recently, I started messing with the glitch again and managed to pull it off quite nicely. If you crouch repeatedly while on ice, you can gain super speed. Check out the video to see what I mean. ;)

Cat, you can put them on your YouTube. P.S. I subscribed to you a long time ago.

I can think of two reasons why he wouldn't, one of them being that he and YouTube have been happily divorced.
And the audience watches as a single tear falls. |
I believe this is about as much of official word as we'll be getting on the YouTube subject:

The newest Misadventures clips are brought to you by the three of us plus a green gelatinous blob. :579: Reuniclus visited Las Vegas to meet me and the others, and we played a variety of games on the trip. In Super Mario 3D World, we decided to try a 1-up trick, which turned into a neat 2-up trick, and we used those lives to give us some support on the final level, Champion's Road (warning: contains spoilers). There's also an odd bug involving dying and grabbing a mushroom at the same time. Next, there's a clip from Pokémon Rumble U where we won and lost at the same time (the goal was to defeat Dialga while protecting the forts). Finally, we particularly had fun with the Luigi's Ghost Mansion game in Nintendo Land, swapping the gamepad around and trying to be the ghost. Reun also wanted me to post a clip of him failing at the Donkey Kong game.
In Super Mario 3D World, from left to right, our players were Cat, Yoshi, Reuniclus, and GreenMan. In Pokémon Rumble U, from left to right, our players were Cat, GreenMan, Reuniclus, and CPU. |
Mushroom Fail reminds me of a weird glitch in Galaxy that happened to me a few times where I'd be killed by an enemy like a Gomba or Spiny and grab a coin before hitting the ground to regenerate a piece of health so I'd "come back to life." Except in this case, it's the other way around.
|
I added three more clips to the post so we each have a clip of being the ghost and so Reun can see his failures in the Donkey Kong game.

I forgot to post this before, but we managed to find and catch a shiny Psyduck in Pokémon Rumble (the original on WiiWare). Pretty lucky, I think.

Today's clip hails from all the way back in 2006 (and only features me). Its quality is pretty poor, as it's just a camera in front of a TV, but I had a bit too much fun acquiring Star Points in one particular battle in Paper Mario, managing to max out the counter at 100.

A certain Dragonite wanted to see a few samples of Wii Music, so here you go. For the most part, we did these in a single take per instrument, but we did redo the ones that were really bad. We tried to pick the stupidest combinations of instruments, too. ;) Yoshi used Zoroark's Mii, as he didn't have one on the Wii U's Wii Menu.
O Christmas Tree - I played all parts (cat suit, dog suit, castanets, banjo, and sitar). My Grandfather's Clock - I played saxophone and toy piano; Reun played recorder and snare drum; and Yoshi played cheerleader and dog suit. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star - I played marimba, Reun played saxophone, and Yoshi played galactic horn. The Legend of Zelda - I played acoustic guitar and Yoshi played dog suit. Make sure to have stereo speakers/headphones or some of the tracks may be missing. |
Dogs and cats are instruments? I take back what I said earlier, this game looks awesome. Also, Cheerleader Zoroark is adorable.

This game of Mario Party 6 was absolutely ridiculous:
http://www.victoryroad.net/attachmen...1&d=1497081180 Yoshi648 is Yoshi, and I'm Koopa Kid. The two CPU players (Toad and Boo) are hard and weak, respectively. We did a quick, ten-turn game. We started with a handicap of 9 stars for each team. By the midway point, the CPU team had lost a single star. In only five turns, we acquired twenty-one stars. We had enough coins each time passing by the star spot to buy five of them at once, and we went by three times; that's 15. The others were stolen in duels, from the plant thing at the top of the map, and from bonuses. The CPU team lost two stars to the hat game. We also had this very close game of Mario Party 5: http://www.victoryroad.net/attachmen...1&d=1497081634 Same 9-star handicap for everyone, and same players, but GreenMan played Boo. |
