Seven new Pokémon in CoroCoro

Leaks from CoroCoro reveal two new Pokémon: a mouse named チラーミィ Chiramii (or Chiraamii) and an unseen Pokémon named ムンナ Munna. An additional scan shows a bird Pokémon without a name.

Update: Another Pokémon, ギアル Giaru (Gear) was revealed. The bird is named マメパト Mamepato.

Update 2: Three more - シママ Shimama, ヒヒダルマ Hihidaruma, and メグロコ Megaroko.

Update 3: Higher quality magazine scans here!

Update 4: It is confirmed that the other type of Reshiram is Fire, while Zekrom is Dragon/Electric.

The Pokémon Black and White page will continue being updated.

Updated four times...can I go to sleep yet?

Charizard98 June 11, 2010 06:20:04 AM

Pokemon don't look the same anymore....they look like Digimon sorta. I like the starters and two legendaries for sure. I love the Zebra from looks. :3 I don't know what to think about the fire one, it looks like Chimchar mixed with Heatran. The aligator doesn't look like a pokemon.......That aligator is a SPY! *insert TF2 reference here* The gears look like it only took 5 minutes to make. Gears?! Really?! The bird is cool looking. It looks better then Pidgey ,but not as good as Starly. The last, and most definatly least is Chiramii, ....:o.... It looks like one of those toys you would find in a 5 year old kids store. Yeah, it looks that bad. Anyways, they are cool, some are good, some are lame. Anyways, can't wait to see what 5th gen does and I can't wait to see more pokemon. :)

Anyone who thinks Giaru looks bad should think for a moment: what the heck were they thinking with a magnet and Magnemite?

SK June 11, 2010 06:24:36 AM

Hihidaruma. No. That is not a Pokemon.

Meguroku is questionable, the other ones are fine.

And are we having a female professor? :3 That'd be hawt.

No it would suck I like Obvious Oak, Epic Elm, ****** Birch, and Radical Rowan.

I don't want a female prof. that ruins the chin of epic d00d prof.'s

SK June 11, 2010 06:41:31 AM

Spit, you can't just say something like... Angelic Araragi?

A'bom June 11, 2010 07:27:57 AM

I only have two complaints: The pigeon and the disgruntled fire... thing. The normal/flying type combo has always bothered me (even back in red and blue). Why not just make it a flying type, plain and simple? And as for that... THING... I'll probably get used to it. Didn't we just get a fire-type primate last generation? I wanna see a fire-type hamster!
I don't have too much to say about the others, except for the chinchilla. It's cute!
Female Professor? It's about time one showed up.

Mamebato

Another form of Starly? I really don't like it, but it seems that we will be forced to use it so that we can fly.

Munna

I am defintely not using this thing!

Giaru (Gear)

A combination of Magnemite and Bronzor? Well, I believe I like it. I might actually use it in my steel gym. :p

Shimama

I like this thing a lot.

Hihidaruma

I love it. I prefer it over the fire starter. I might choose the grass starter this time in order to catch it.

Meguroko

This seems to be quite strong.

Dr. Araragi

At last a change!

On another note, rumors say that the new team is called Team Plasma. I am not sure yet.

Yoshi648 June 11, 2010 07:46:58 AM

Awesome!

I like Shimama and Meguroko. And HOLY ARCEUS, A FEMALE PROFESSOR! Boy Pokémon games sure are making a turn-around.

Jason_Henge June 11, 2010 07:55:40 AM

-dies happy- Mamepato looks like a pidgeon! So cute! XD

Is Shimama a zebra? o3o >_> Mine are better.

Giaru = Magnemite + Bronzor

I can't believe I made something that looked like Hihidaruma... I stopped on him because it looked so stupid. I guess I was proven wrong.

What the hell is Munna? Some kind of floral piggy bank?

Chiramii
Attachment 707

Mamebato

This pidgeon's gonna turn out to become a kick-butt Pokemon when he evolves, much like Pidgey and Starly did.

Munna
Munna gives me a feeling that this is a Drowzee pre-evo.It is Dream Eater Pokemon and it is also a Tapir.

Giaru (Gear)
It's evo will be 3 gears :D

Shimama
Girafarig's cousin.I demands its name to be Zebrarbez!

Hihidaruma
Awesome!!!!

Meguroko
It is definitely in my team!

Dr. Araragi
Coooooooooooooooooool

New Pokédex
If you look closely,it says that Chiramii's number is 75/76.

Reshiram vs. Tsutaja
WIN!!!

Tapir? I'm not impressed. D: I wanted an awesome tapir, like I made, not some fruity flower child.

Ayunnuya June 11, 2010 09:49:48 AM

shimama might be a dark/electrice or dark/normal. IMO of course.

Jason_Henge June 11, 2010 09:52:02 AM

I'm hoping for Dark/Electric. I would love it forever. ^_^

AuraKshatriya June 11, 2010 09:53:40 AM

Here are some possible origins to each newly-revealed Pokemon`s name:

xD First I`ll go with Hihidaruma`s, this one is painfully obvious. "Hihi" means "Baboon", which is clearly used. And "Daruma" and be used with words such as "Yuki" to make "Snowman" (Yukidaruma), and "Daruma" on it`s own is a type of red, paper-mache doll in form of a seated Buddhist monk, which is supposed to give good luck. While "Hihi" is clearly from "Baboon", the rest is somewhat arbitrary.

Meguroko is a bit tricky, but it could be from the Japanese pronunciation of Crocodile, which is "kurokodairu". Megu could come from "chinomegurigawarui", dim-witted, or slow to catch on, but that`s a bit of a long shot.

"Giaru"`s name is just the Japanese pronunciation of "Gear" for obvious reasons.

"Shimama"`s name is a corruption on the Japanese word for "Zebra", which is "shimauma". "Shimauma" is made up of two seperate words of it`s own, as well. "Shima" means "stripe", and "uma" means "horse. So basically "Shimama" is just the word for zebra with the "u" cut out.

"Mamepato" could partly come from "Hato" which is Japanese for "Pidgeon". The "mame" portion, given that it has a "p" which replaces the "h" in hato, means it isn`t an entire word, being only "mamep", so I`m not quite sure what it refers to.

"Chiramii" probably has the "chira" portion coming from the Japanese pronunciation for "Chinchilla", which is "Chinchirra" The "mii" could be from a lot of different words.

Honestly, at the moment I have absolutely no idea where they got Mun`na`s name.

Anyway, hope this somewhat irrelevant information ends up being useful somehow xD

The higher quality link has a picture which shows Celebii and Zorua out of their Pokeballs.
It also shows the epic Zekrom sprite. And don't forget the bridge :D

Luxray13579 June 11, 2010 10:15:04 AM

Finally! The first main series female professor! I really like the zebra Pokémon, could be on my top 10 list one day.

Sunny June 11, 2010 10:20:23 AM

I want Meguroko. :> About time we finally get a proper crocodile pokemon.

Although I can't really say how it will place on the tiers competitively. I have high hopes, but I'll just have to wait and see. =w=

Totodile hater. =P

Sunny June 11, 2010 10:28:14 AM

Feriligator hater actually~! =3=
Totodile starts off so cute and then turns into big ugly feraligator. :<

Bu-but... I luvz Feraligatr... (Just wish he was part-Fighting, since he looks it.)

Magmaster12 June 11, 2010 11:25:16 AM

Chiramii is probably the Pikachu of this gen.

Hihidaruma is probably the evolved form of the fire starter, if not I'm using the grass starter.

Dragiiin123 June 11, 2010 11:39:35 AM

Dream Eater Pokemon is so cute :D
Gear weirds me out. D:
Mamepato is pretty much the Pidgey of this generation, but he's pretty cute. :D
HiHidaruma is a pokemon I will definatley add to my team, seeing as the weren't much fire pokemon in 4th gen, and he looks pretty cool after all. :D
Shinamama is a electric horsey thing. Meh, I'll skip it. Don't really like the design.
Megaroku is a definite awesome crocdile. He does remind me of Hippotas though.

"All of the Pokemon here are chunky! There should be a pink one with a floral print!"
The Junior Trainer (f) outside of Rock Tunnel may have gotten her wish with Munna. :P

Mamepato is probably my favorite of the Birds at the start of the game, and Meguroko looks really cool. :D

Hihidaruma is... weird. He creeps me out. I do not care for him at all, honestly. Giaru is kinda cool, but I hope that his evolution is a bit more creative that two gears glued together. Shimama is also really nice looking, one of the cuter of the bunch. :P

It is so cool seeing all of these Pokemon getting revealed! :D

Other completely unconfirmed rumors floating around are that the plot doesn’t involve collecting eight badges,
Yeah. I don't think that is something of major concern with absolutely nothing resembling proof.

Neo Pikachu June 11, 2010 11:59:21 AM

Ah, okay... I like the majority of these new Pokemon. New mouse Pokemon, eh? Too bad none will top Pikachu. It looks plain, but it doesn't look terrible. My favorite would have to be Shimama though. It just looks... awesome.

As for the gears, I've been waiting for this to happen. Figured they'd do this earlier when Magnets were Pokemon in the very first season. Hihidaruma, makes me think of Looney Tunes and the Tasmanian Devil for obvious reasons.

As for a female Professor, I have been waiting for there to be an in-game professor for a while. Figured they would do this when I heard of Professor Ivy in Kanto. Even though she wasn't a Starter Type Giving Professor, ;P

Can't wait to see what else awaits us.

I doubt it. Why would a pig turn into a gorilla?

These look...okay...I guess. Not awesome or horrible, but pretty good.
That flame gorilla Hihidaruma scares me though.

FreezeWarp June 11, 2010 12:34:43 PM

The Pokémon fail to impress me, though the Pokédex design and professor are pretty cool. Gear, I guess, is also pretty cool.

I only said that because it's part pyschic, it looks a lot like pokabu and it seems more giant pig based.

Darkrai June 11, 2010 12:55:08 PM

Wow, I like these pokemon! I just got an idea though. That Munna pokemon, the weird pig thing brings up a theory. If it's a dream eater pokemon, and it looks pink and fluffy with flowers, it resembles a pillow doesn't it?

Pasta June 11, 2010 01:45:30 PM

For the most part, they're just okay, but I have more specific feelings towards three of them.

Hihidaruma- What is this? I suppose it's a monkey or something, but boy, is it ugly. The eyebrows are ridiculous.
Shimama- Very cute. c: Zebras (?) are awesome.
Munna- And I thought Hihidaruma was ridiculous! What is this, a piggy bank Pokemon? Although, Darkrai above me said that it looks like a pillow, and I see what he means.

Ningamer June 11, 2010 01:50:23 PM

I have but one comment...

OH MY GOD IT'S A FREAKING ELECTRIC ZEBRA!

Sableyed June 11, 2010 04:59:37 PM

Well I know two pokemon on my future team: Tsutarja and Hihidaruma.

Zoroark is a maybe.

Magmaster12 June 11, 2010 05:32:05 PM

Giaru reminds of this.

Um, I don't think Hihidaruma is psychic. I hope Hihidaruma gets an awesome English name, cause I like it but it's name is hard to type.

New pokedexes are iPods? I guess it fits, but aren't they usually based on the generation's portable? Speaking of which, when does the DS 2 come out? Will this be for the DS or the unnamed new system?

Jason_Henge June 11, 2010 07:53:30 PM

Hihidaruma is obviously Fire. Check out the Buck-brows on it. xD

Oh, a good-looking, girl professor? That's just downright amazing!

Anyways, let me start with adding a comment on every newly-revealed Pokémon:

-Chirami: It looks kinda cute and has a good, second ability (Technician), but I doubt its usage in competitive play. It also reminds me with Pichu. Nothing too special though.

-Munna: I honestly don't know what to say about it. It looks peculiar and unusual to me, and so I don't like it at all.

-Gear: The name is unoriginal, and it looks like it's going to be similar to Magnemite (adding on more gears when it evolves?). However, I think that the usage of the "Plus" and "Minus" abilities is a very good idea because we only have one Pokémon with each ability (Plusle, Minun). I hope it has good stats, and that it doesn't have a crappy evolution because it looks like an awesome Pokémon.

-Mamepato: I don't really hate the Pokémon itself as much as I hate the animal it's based upon; we're getting tired of all those bird Pokémon with Normal/Flying typing available at the beginning of each game. However, the abilities seem promising and the design is very cool, so I think its evolutions are going to be cool.

-Hihidaruma: I'm kinda neutral on this Pokémon, but more leaning towards a negative opinion on it. It looks kinda ugly and strange to me, and the fire brows look a bit like the ones Blaziken had, except being bigger. Also, the whole 'fire ape' concept is starting to become redundant, especially with the existence of (apparently) better Pokémon such as Infernape.

-Shimama: I guess Girafarig finally gets something that looks like a 'counterpart' to it. Although it's an Electric Zebra Pokémon (thumbs up for originality :D), it looks a lot like a giraffe. Also, the abilities are really awesome, especially Motor Drive. I'm not very sure now whether it'll get an evolution or not, but I really like it nonetheless.

-Meguroko: This Pokémon hints at the Beagle Boys, and has a similar colour scheme to that of Hippowdon. Nevertheless, I really like its design and its unique typing (ignoring the several weaknesses), and I hope its evolutions are even cooler.

So, in conclusion, here's a list of the Pokémon I like in descending order:
Meguroko and Shimama (tie)
Gear
Mamepato
Chirami
Hihidaruma
Munna

Now, let's move on to Reshiram and Zekrom:

-Reshiram: Awesome in many ways for me. The type is unique indeed, and sports 5 good resistances to common types, which are Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass and Electric (two of which give it x0.25 damage). It's good to know that it's not weak to Ice, and that it is only weak to Ground, Dragon and Rock (for the time being). I think I like it more than Zekrom by a very tiny bit because it looks more amazing.

-Zekrom: Oh, another awesome and special typing. Boasting resistances to 6 types, which are Flying, Steel, Grass, Water, Electric and Fire (one of which gives it x0.25 damage), this thing is sure to be beastly. Although it shares a weakness to Ground and Dragon (for now) like Reshiram, the main difference is that it is weak to Ice, not Rock. Zekrom also possesses a very cool look, and so I still like it a lot.

I'm very glad to see that both of them have no x4 weakness, and that they are very unique both design-wise and type-wise. Even the abilities sound useful. Those legendaries are easily going to be one of my favourites.

With 5 weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ice, Fight and Bug, I doubt it. We'll get a better judgement when its evolutions are revealed.
