New abilities to replace HAs and Mega abilities?!

I found this thread on Smogon and people are swearing that it is legit. Here is the content.
I happened upon a source that is releasing some pretty game-changing information. Apparently, Game Freak is going to start redoing the hidden abilities each generation. This is huge. When I first heard about them in Gen 5 with the Dream World, I always assumed they would change with each game. Finally, this will be a reality. Even though a new generation hasn't been announced yet, these abilities are allegedly coded somewhere in the game right now, which means we can play with them early once we find out how to extract them.

My source (code name: Farfetch'd) delivers new leaks every few days, so make sure to keep checking back for new information!

**CHANGES**
Hidden Abilities change each new generation. That means they won't rollover, so Contrary Serperior is dead on arrival.
Pokemon that previously only had 1 ability and 0 HAs now have a HA assigned to them. So Mew gains Protean and keeps Synchronize because Synchronize was already a regular ability.
Mega Pokemon also get their ability replaced with a new one. Mega Alakazam loses Trace and gains Pure Power.
Primals are unaffected. So is Arceus.

Probably four times out of five I see these "leaks" being misunderstandings, pranks or someone talking about a dream they had, but this is interesting. I'd rather see Voltorb and Electode getting actual new evolutions that are almost useful but this could also have some interesting effects on . . . everything.

sorry, but quick question. Contrary Serperior is banned?

No. However, that may be the case in future games.

Most like someone just spewing their ideas. Some if these abilities will make that perspective Pokemon totally broken. Even though Game Freak isn't always about the competitive side, they have made strives to balance the game a bit. This looks careless or a wishlist. XD I do admit, Parental Bond Nido fam looks attractive*.

Some are broken and some are just plain unfitting. I do like Technicial Mega Sceptile though, with boosted HP fire and dragon breath!

That's true. Physical set is posdible, too, between Rock Tomb and Earthquake. They probably should've given it that to begin with. XD

Edit: Totally forgot Dual Chop.

Actually, according to an interview I read ages ago they actually spend a good amount of time testing the balance of both in-game and competitive, especially when they add new moves at the beginning of generations. I'd reason that they actively plan for some things to be stupidly overpowered just to keep things interesting, and maybe even keep a tier-like structure where as many things find their niches as possible.

I mean, Speed Boost Blaziken. Who couldn't see that turning either high OU or Uber instantly?

Never read anything like that, but I'm sure they are otherwise changes like resistances and stuff wouldn't change. They still need to buff Poison types, though. xD Oh, and Ice.

That's true about Blaziken, but giving it Early Bird is a pretty hilarious fix. Not that it it's a bad ability, but I'm sure Blaziken is capable of Vital Spirit or something.

kakashidragon January 23, 2015 05:05:02 AM

How would PurePower Alakazam work?

MattyBrollic January 23, 2015 05:56:34 AM

Some of these abilities just seem ridiculously unfitting though... Like Iron Barbs Jolteon and Fur Coat Dewgong... I understand that Jolteon is spikey but it is certainly not made of iron.
