This thread is dedicated to my musical compositions and remixes. I hope you enjoy! I worked hard on them! =:3

Please note: From now on, the Soundfonts used in each song will be listed under the link. Another notable feature is the numbering of the Soundfonts listed. The terms "Original Composition", "Remix", or "Original Composition Remix" will only be used in the double-dashed title, and will not be used in the link. All titles, double-dashed or single-dashed will be bolded for easier convenience. Whenever more than one song exists in one post, a barrier will be placed in between the information, in reference to the songs respectively.

Due to the increased usage of plug-ins for each musical project, they will now be listed in each post.

The posting of used soundfont and plug-in names within uploaded musical pieces will no longer occur. Musical pieces can now be labelled as "Quasi-Original Compositions" or "Semi-Original Compositions" for tunes where not all the melodic phrases are composed by me.

Update 1/5/13



Some chiptunes will not follow the limitations of the actual console. For this,  compositions will have the term "Unlimited" in the title.

EDIT: Now edited to have moar Koichi Namiki style baseline. Yes, that refers to Thunder Blade on the Arcade.

EDIT 2: Now more vibrant and punchy. A newer, lengthier version could be released soon. Keep an eye out! (4/12/12)

It does sound like what you suggest. The only problem I have... is a technical one! VLC rejects the MIDI.

Yeah, VLC is kinda finicky about files like MIDI's. Instead, you might want to try WinAmp if you have it. I've had no problems with its MIDI playback system.

Another alternative, if you ever want to see and hear MIDI files, is to use MIDITrail. It's a free program, and you can output MIDI data to any device you want, like a keyboard. :3

The baseline from the Acoustic Piano is based off of the tune "Who Am I", from an unreleased game on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive named "The Stickman Is Back". The soundtrack was composed by Yuzo Koshiro.

When I hear this song, I think of an old, large abandoned mansion that holds dark secrets. Hidden doors in bookcases that lead to laboratories, experiments held in inanimate, silent seclusion, and possible paranormal activity. To think, all this inside a Pokémon dungeon... Including a legendary Pokémon created as a result of the horrific experimentations... It's like West Mansion from Splatterhouse, only less blood, gore, 80's music, and senseless violence. :P

Hey, I honestly didn't make it. Now, if someone could locate me to a Streets Of Rage Soundfont with FM Instruments and DAC Samples from all the games, that'd be great. :P

Of all things! I never thought Black and White with the Mega Drive font would go together like that, now that is unique! My ears are going like, soundgasm on Nirvana City! And about a Streets of Rage soundfont, sounds like a nice idea if Bare Knuckle really does use somewhat different sounds than normal from the Z80 FM I'm used to hearing it play from. That one track, Fighting In The Streets, seems still really popular with some folks. It's popular with even me.

I agree with that. I'm thinking of just trying out some regular Megadrive and B/W tunes (meaning no merging of Soundfonts for a while). I might start using SNES Samples. More stuff coming soon, folks!

Getting two Frequency Modulated guitars to play with two guitars from the Pokémon Black and White Soundfont, led to a crazy "hybrid" lead instrument constantly pounding grotesque melodies into your ears. What could go wrong with all the note shredding?

A Genesis Cover. Yes, some of you might be saying, "Isn't Hot Wheels lame?". My answer is "no". Why? Look at the Acceleracers and the Hot Wheels: World Race movies. Both of them were fantastic. More to the point, I found a certain tune in the Hot Wheels: World Race video game soundtrack for the Game Boy Advance to be very good, although it needed a little polish, so I remixed it in the Sega Megadrive style.

I really like this track, to be honest.

There are some things that I have to say about it, some technical, some compositional.

First, the technical stuff:

You might want to consider encoding your files at at least 192 kbps.
Your track seem to be too quiet overall on a mobile device. Seen on Audacity, apparently there is no postprocessing done on the audio track. This does preserve integrity of the audio, but you do have to consider how quiet the song actually is when you put it on something that isn't a computer. Consider either raising individual track volume or applying dynamic range compression. (Not all your previous tracks seem to "suffer" from this)

Next, compositional:

Very catchy with a nice bass line, but...
The melody part is drowned out.

I tried to capture the sound of the original game, and focused less on going for that electronic sound I usually go for. As a result, I now have a purely theatrical theme. Kind of rare for me, huh?

I know this seems like a lot, but if you're going to be using VOPM, it'd be best if you use these tools to help you acquire that authentic Genny sound. Go for anything you'd like, really. Oh, and forget about the Ultimate Genesis Soundfont. If you use all this, it'll be outdated now.

Ooh, this one sounds pretty sweet. I really like how the two lead instruments sound throughout the first fifteen seconds. Overall, it definitely fits the atmosphere of the original, and the drums are absolutely perfect for it as well. Nice work!
