Glitch City has been closed

Glitch City has been closed and soft deleted. Whether this is temporary or permanent has not yet been decided, but we believe that this may help us determine the necessity of this board. Posting your spam in other boards instead may result in infractions as per the site rules.

Edit: Disputes in the poll counts compared to voters are due to changes of votes.
Votes changed:
PHANTOMxTRAINER: Leave it as an archive.
LiteTheIronMan: Toss in the Garbage board (visible to admins only).
Jenova: Vote retracted.

Firo August 19, 2011 10:02:42 PM

Well, it's been up for so long, it had to happen sooner or later.

Squirtle102 August 19, 2011 10:31:40 PM

Yay. It was just spam so no harm done.

isbragg August 19, 2011 11:55:04 PM

I vote for keeping it closed. We had too many members, including mods and admins (remember /b/uizel?) taking Glitch City out of Glitch City. Hopefully, by keeping it closed, some more sensible posts will be made.

Cat333Pokémon August 20, 2011 12:40:40 AM

I've added a poll to see what you folks think, but please be forewarned that it IS NOT final. Staff will decide in a week what should happen.

The Spirit of Time August 20, 2011 05:22:45 AM

(Sorry for still acting like a staff)

Although I was never a fan of /b/uizel nor the new Glitch City, which I didn't see much of since I was away, yet we need to keep in mind the change in which the activity of Victory Road would drop due to the absence of spam. In order to keep the posts here in the forums as sensible as possible, but in the same time keep the forums itself as active as possible, I suggest again to open a thread somewhere in the forums where spam can be posted. Thus you will contain all the unnecessary posts in one thread and in the same time leave an open space for members enjoy their time in a less serious manner.

Jaredvcxz August 20, 2011 05:44:21 AM

If any of you ruin this moment of triumph by making cat re-open it I will have to take major consideration in eating your dog.

Elaine August 20, 2011 05:50:41 AM

Glitch City has its good merits and its bad merits.

It is good because it gives people a place to almost go all out when spamming. Some people feel the need to spam. I never really cared for it unless I was in one of those really sarcastic moods.

It's bad because some of it just plain stupid. I was actually thinking, "About Time!" when I saw this thread. :P

Masterge77 August 20, 2011 06:03:03 AM

When I saw this on the main page, I could only say one thing about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3ALwKeSEYs

Idno58 August 20, 2011 06:59:02 AM

Hrm... Looks like I'm the only one again... Guess I can pass my time with sprite shops and RP's now. I'm not gonna say anymore over the risk of being socially outcasted from the internet.

alternateshadow300 August 20, 2011 07:06:10 AM

I voted for 'leave it as an archive' because it should definitely remain closed, but visible to all users.

UltimaRaichu August 20, 2011 09:35:12 AM

Eh, only went there for shenanigans and posting pony whatever. I can care less what happens to Glitch City.

Shiny August 20, 2011 10:06:03 AM

Only went there to post my poor attempts at trying to be funny. </3
I say leave it as an archive, though.

Jaredvcxz August 20, 2011 12:02:14 PM

I really don't see the point in leaving it as an archive. If your dog took a **** in the middle of your livingroom, wouldn't you want to clean it up instead of putting a display case around it?

Aquablast August 20, 2011 12:45:24 PM

GC was really out of control. I agree with it being gone but I know we will probably lose some members since it is gone.

... Yeah, don't compare dog feces to GC.

It was worse when it was /b/uizel, MUCH worse...

NismoZ August 20, 2011 01:11:17 PM

I vote we leave it as an archive, but post a notice saying that the first half of the threads are complete ****. Old /b/uizel (I mean around the time I registered) actually had some good threads such as the one I just linked to.

Kero August 20, 2011 01:11:59 PM

23 people better get to work on my future change of address forms.

Kero is unamuse. :-x

Best. Metaphor. EVAR!

Chibi August 20, 2011 02:49:09 PM

I know I voted toss it in the Garbage Board...but since posts didn't count towards the total someone has...why not just delete all of it instead? It's just a waste of data space.

Feeling the need to spam is just silly and immature. I realize that the majority of the users here are under the age of 18, but still. Just because they're on the internet doesn't mean they need to act like they're 2.

If they really want to leave because they can't spam anymore, let them. They're not positively contributing anything anyways.

Exactly.

Firo August 20, 2011 07:19:34 PM

They'll just do it again, maybe troll a little. Who knows?

kakashidragon August 20, 2011 11:11:24 PM

Whats glitch city again? wasnt that like a random spam thread?

Shadow August 21, 2011 03:08:11 AM

Well then, I'm glad to see Glitch City gone even for a little while. I have realized a good time ago that the problem was never with the moderation; we left the members to do whatever they wanted, the forum turned into an utter mess. We implemented stricter rules to control things over there, everyone started complaining about it.

Now let's see if closing Glitch City will result in what we hope for.

The Spirit of Time August 21, 2011 04:20:32 AM

Leave it as an archive though; no matter how bad the situation was, it is always good to keep it as some sort of memories that old members would find later on, or new members would see how the forums was.

Dragiiin123 August 21, 2011 08:26:59 AM

but a lot of activity was on GC.

Yeah, that was the problem. A spam board garnering so much activity on a forum that is supposed to be for pokemon discussion, not spammy meaningless threads.

PHANTOMxTRAINER August 21, 2011 10:33:45 AM

I agree. Although i was very active on Glitch City, I agree. Too many threads were being closed anyways, so might as well close the whole thing. Most of it was trash anyways. It was mostly irrelevant and pretty much was just randomness. So, yeah. Im good with keeping it closed, although the fun times i had. *Flash Back*

Yeah, what Phantom said. Most of the threads were closed, so why keep it? You don't take a trash bin and take picture of it, you thow your trash in their, not marvel at it like a superstar, Unless a super star was on it

So we should just close it and not let it exist again.

Jaredvcxz August 21, 2011 12:17:40 PM

So... are we gonna delete this yet or not?

SyracuvatTenlii August 21, 2011 12:40:52 PM

Darn...and I was just about to post this...

In all seriousness, though, I did largely avoid the spamboard. When I looked at it, though, I noticed that usually half of the recent threads were closed because someone had to do something stupid. The "trash can" approach where you save all of your trollin' for one forum may seem like a good idea, but the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Overall, I think keeping the trash more or less out of the picture is a good idea.

Welp, you guys never truly deleted /b/uizel for some reason or another
I'd imagine if the forum's not going to be reopened it'll probably gather some dust for a while

Cat333Pokémon August 21, 2011 09:54:34 PM

Wow, 83% of people who voted want to keep it gone (one user changed his vote in his post). Well, I can safely say with agreement like that that it will not be coming back anytime soon. I'll leave the poll and discussion open in case anyone else wants to vote or leave their two cents, preferably to help with the even split in the bottom two options.

PHANTOMxTRAINER August 21, 2011 09:57:56 PM

Was that user me? If not, i would like to keep it in archive. I think i voted to keep it open before

Yes, it was you. :p

Firo August 22, 2011 02:15:23 AM

You never know. A downfall is always good to archive, especially a discussion of one.

JJ August 22, 2011 07:24:45 AM

It's not so much I want it open to post in... It's just that now the spammers are going into VRIM and spamming, at least with Glitch City open, they have a place to be complete and total idiots without worry.

Jaredvcxz August 22, 2011 07:40:18 AM

We could have all the moderators as chat mods. It worked for VRC, didn't it.

Plus the current crop of chat mods are either lazy or incredibly anal about everything.

It's exactly those people who we don't need on the forums.

You're right. Spam would just consume the spammer's and other peoples' time.

kakashidragon August 22, 2011 12:07:57 PM

So what made this theard go to waste? The lack of activity and posting? Am i right.

Firo August 22, 2011 12:11:15 PM

I'm waiting for someone else.

Cat333Pokémon August 22, 2011 04:16:58 PM

The /b/uizel room still exists on VRIM (room 7). I even looked through the archive and saw folks were redirected there.

Firo August 22, 2011 06:31:13 PM

Huh. Well it's worth a look.

hinorashi August 22, 2011 08:22:16 PM

Is there really anything there worth archiving?

Jaredvcxz August 23, 2011 03:23:38 AM

OK GUYS I THINK WE GET IT. All we're waiting on is Cat now, and he said he'll remove it or leave it as an archive as soon as the poll closes saturday. No sense continuing our campaign if 90% of the active users have already voted.

The Pooping Bricks Song thread.

Cat333Pokémon August 23, 2011 06:35:28 AM

If anyone wants anything archived publicly (in case we do decide to toss it in Garbage), I strongly suggest replying or dropping me a PM with the thread link. I may move a few threads to Funny/Interesting Stuff, Game Corner, or another appropriate board if they're important enough. I've already moved one of my personal favorites because it's related to an inside joke that has lasted for several years.

Jaredvcxz August 23, 2011 07:46:55 AM

This is a must http://victoryroad.net/showthread.php?t=8825
It's the explanation on why people hate bronies.

Cat333Pokémon August 23, 2011 08:14:38 AM

Moved to General Media. Anything else?

RK-9 August 23, 2011 09:40:20 AM

you do know 50 people will quit

and more people will post spam on non-spam boards freely

oh well whatever sinks your site boat

alternateshadow300 August 23, 2011 09:43:08 AM

... You know what? That thread on why people dislike bronies is probably the only thread necessary... Yeah, I changed my mind, just throw the board away.

I don't mind the spammers leaving.

And if the latter happens, then we'll need to crack down on cleaning it up.

PHANTOMxTRAINER August 23, 2011 09:55:53 AM

The spammers are the people we don't need. (Unless they are active, and relevant to the forum, and only spams in like /b/uizel chat sometimes. Like me (y))

Sunny August 23, 2011 10:48:40 AM

spammers had friends? =3=
Lets be honest here. The only friends of spammers are other spammers. Its not like you need to choose between friendship with one of them that left, or this site. You can have both. =w=

And hey, if they only stayed on this site to write mindless dribble, then i'm glad there gone. Maybe now this site could grow as an actual pokemon forum instead of a spam dumpster. :V

Squirtle102 August 23, 2011 10:52:44 AM

Close it for Arceus sake.

7dewott8 August 23, 2011 10:54:12 AM

Why DID we have GC in the first place? (just askin')

Cat333Pokémon August 23, 2011 11:00:55 AM

Glitch City, /b/uizel, or simply "Spam" (only ten of the people reading this ever probably remember when it had that name) was a board for useless drivel and another means of expressing yourself in a free system similar to the Game Corner (or its old names of just Ye Olde Internet Madness or Forum Games).

Nah, just kidding, it has been useless all along.

Sunny August 23, 2011 11:05:33 AM

Cat did it for the lulz. :3

zsaberslash August 23, 2011 01:15:02 PM

Farewell Glitch City, and all those who accidentally saved in it without any Pokemon that know Fly.

1,577. And that's not counting all the ones that were deleted and moved to Garbage.

<minirant>Yeah, I agree with that last line. He threw most of the threads in a dead Garbage sub-board, for the reason that he'd be able to see them all. Umm, well, Zsaber was posting threads to be still public...and now that he's not an admin he cannot read them...makes no sense.</minirant>

Anyway, I moved some of them to Game Corner, mostly ones that had a defining moment or some redeeming value, but quite a few of them were just too bad to keep around.

PHANTOMxTRAINER August 24, 2011 03:48:54 PM

Wow. Now I completely agree with the closing.

mariothecellist August 24, 2011 04:46:45 PM

So, what are we going to do now? No more spam boards now?

Use that for spam related things, but please follow the rules mentioned in the thread.

Cat333Pokémon August 24, 2011 05:18:11 PM

With that, I believe this is finished. The board has been thrown into Garbage.
