Server move planned to occur within 7 to 14 days
That's right, it's that time again. The Victory Road Network (Victory Road, Floatzel.Net, VRAC, and Pokékaki) will be moving to a new web host within the next two weeks, starting somewhere around March 17th. Unlike previous moves, we are scaling down to a server with fewer resources. As much as I appreciate the service HiVelocity has provided, their services simply are on a higher tier than what I require.
If anyone from HiVelocity does happen to read this, thank you for your years of great service. I will be sure to recommend you for anyone requiring a quality dedicated server. For the ex-users of VRIM While I have fully closed down public access to VRIM in July 2012 and phased it out into 2013, the database is still up. This will change prior to the server move, and I will finally completely erase it from the server. (I will keep a backup of the public rooms.) If anyone would like to request private message or private room logs, please send me a PM on or before March 14. If you wait any longer, I may not be able to recover the messages. |
I like how you reused that Typhlosion picture Cat.

Just a reminder that I'm going to be taking the VRIM database down on the end of the day on Saturday the 15th, so if you need any logs, this is your last chance.
By end of the day do you mean 12 am?
Are there still any plans to update to the newer version of VBulliten?

I'm actually not sure if the forum will be viewable after locking it. Sorry, everyone.

The only switch I can find is an on/off setting (which opens/closes the entire site), unless I go to every single forum and set them read only. Even then, parts of VR still modify the database.
All right. If anything, I do hope that it goes smoothly. Last thing anyone would want is to have Victory Road disappear off the face of the planet because of some kind of catastrophic failure that also wipes out all redundancies.
File uploads have been disabled to prevent the file system from changing. They'll be re-enabled after the move.
Also, for any previous VRIM users, this is your absolute last chance to request room logs. If I don't receive your message within the next 10 hours, your messages will not be saved. |
All of the static sites have been moved to the new server. In fact, Victory Road has partially moved too. That was the purpose of the file system lock. We just have one critical thing left to move: the database. Once this massive file has been transferred, Victory Road should be restored. It may take several hours after then for the site to appear, however, because of the way DNS propagation works (that is, for your Internet provider to receive the information of the new location of "victoryroad.net").
The database should be getting moved in a few minutes. Expect the site to go offline.
You guys either move things fast or I didn't notice any move.
It was done pretty quickly. I went to sleep right after it started and it was done before I woke up.
I started it at about 10:30 PM PDT/1:30 AM EDT, and I finished by around 2 AM PDT/5 AM EDT. Anything after that was just waiting for things to update.
Barely noticed, I was out for the entire time.
