Pokémon advertisement to air during Super Bowl 50
An official advertisement for Pokémon will be aired during Super Bowl 50. The version released online is dubbed to be the "extended cut," created by advertisement agency Omelet. The TV-size cut will be 30 seconds long and will air during the third quarter of the game.
The trailer, which does not specifically advertise any Pokémon products, centers around the theme of training and trying hard at running, chess, and football, to culminate in a stadium showing another Pokémon trainer with a Gyarados, Charizard, Magneton, and Mega Lucario. Easter eggs include "Like no one ever was" above the locker room exit, a Nidoking chess piece, Volcano Badge helmets, and ads for Moomoo Milk and Rare Candy in the Japanese signage. The trailer ends with simply a URL for the twentieth-anniversary website, Pokémon 20, and hashtag #Pokemon20. Source 1: Article on Engadget Source 2: Advertisement on YouTube |
I had a post written up containing my thoughts on this, but then I decided I have still yet to decide my thoughts on this so I'll hold off on that.
Anywaym , that said I'm kiiiiind of glad they didn't do something similar to this, like I was kind of expecting them to: |

I wonder how many times we'll see this commercial?
|
I think they said it'd air once during the third quarter. Also, the aired ad will only be 30 seconds.
|
Will they cut it up into pieces or something (or god forbid, play it at double speed)?
|
I mean, I like it but from what I've heard here in Australia is that Superbowl ad space costs a ton. So is this really worth it?

Possibly to remind the general populace of the Pokémon brand.
Currently, it's 5 million USD (about 7 million AUD) for 30 seconds of ad space: http://fortune.com/2016/01/26/super-bowl-50-ad-cost/ |
