Pokemon Direct

I don't know if anyone has heard anything about this but this is pretty big! It's happening on Feb 26th at 7 am (pst). This could be a potential game reveal, as I think that date is close to when the other games were announced! I'm pretty excited as it could be Pokemon Z or the generation 7 games. Pokemon direct will run for 5 minutes according to Twitter through Bulbapedia who got it from Nintendo (I think). Also, on the 27th Twitch will be holding an event at 9 am (pst) to 5 pm (pst). Then at either 5 or 6 pm they will be having a "24 hour long marathon of the anime." So, to sum it up, lots of thing are happening in the days to come! (Hopefully this isn't seen as an advertisement because I think it is more news then anything else.)

Here's the Twitter post for reference:

I'm definitely hoping to hear about Pokémon Z and/or the next generation of games. :)

think I'll re-write this post because Gen 6 is actually a bit older now that I originally though (3 years seems a pretty standard duration) but I'm still hoping it's not Gen 7 because there are still way too many loose ends in 6 (like, ALL of the legendaries, AZ's floette, and pretty much the rest of the complete works of Shakespeare found in the X/Y game files).

"sun" and "moon" trademarks apparently got registered earlier by Nintendo in Europe (can be looked up here) which I guess is something but does nothing to help the "Game Freak is running out of names" idea. Can think of a lot of possible extra evolutions/mega evolutions that might come with that, though, so I guess Sun and Moon for Gen 7 wouldn't be the end of the world. Probably would be mythology themed or something.

Before looking up the trademarks, I would've said I'm leaning towards Z coming soon, but those logos look great and Gen VII could indeed be around the corner. Here comes a falcon Pokémon based on Ra (sun) and Khonsu (moon), and Amun (a fusion for Amun-Ra, perhaps?) or Horus (sky) as the third version Pokémon. Just a little Egyptian mythology if they go that route. ;)

Or, as crazy as this sounds, maybe we're getting more of Gen VI, with a few new Pokémon and Mega Evolutions (heh, Mega Heliolisk, Mega Sunflora, Mega Solrock; and Mega Clefable, Mega Delcatty, Mega Lunatone :P). That would be something.

Also, abbreviating Pokémon Sun and Moon to Pokémon SM will make it sound like adult-entertainment parody, or like it's a service mark.

Dragonite February 25, 2016 10:49:52 AM

Of course we're not getting Heliolist, Sunflora, Solrock or Luntaone, remember the crazy power creep of ORAS? Mega Espeon and Umbreon is where it's at, and probably Primal Ho-oh, too! </sarcasm>

Actually now that I think about it, it would be kind of hilarious to get Pokémon named after the days of the week, since two two of those are literally "sun day" and "moon day" and most of the rest of them are also derived from things in the sky, too.

Nintendo registered the domain names

Either 7th gen, or wacky new names for XY2 (like Black/White 2).

Honestly, for some reason the names Sun and Moon have gotten me really excited, So much potential! Time to stay up until 1:30AM to see the Pokemon Direct I guess :^)

Cat333Pokémon February 26, 2016 12:13:51 AM

I'm seeing suggestions Sun and Moon will take place in southern Kalos, mostly because the currently-known Kalos is based on only the top half of France, and that they will bring closure to Zygarde's formes and possibly introduce the Mega Evolutions for the Gen VI starters. With the logo designs, Solrock and Lunatone might have some significance.

We'll see in six hours.

Whelp, stayed up this long for a 6 minute video, oh well it was fun I guess. At least the games are now confirmed would have preferred to see a bit of a teaser though.

Rasursu February 26, 2016 06:10:00 AM

It's official, Pokemon Moon and Sun are a go (release date is 2016)! Also, you can transfer Pokemon from Red Blue and Yellow to Pokebank to Sun and Moon, (maybe X and Y, or AS or OR)!
