***Current results from MB's Bi-Annual Tournament***

Hello! This is the (extremely) unofficial Victory Road Battle Rankings! I will
update this table based on the results of battles from the trading and
battling thread and MattyBrollic's Bi-Annual Championship Tournament. For
anyone interested in competitive battling, this is how to keep track of your
standings in comparison to other VR members!

How Points work -

- Everybody starts off-table with 1000 points
- If you win, you get points equal to 10% of YOUR OPPONENT'S points
- If you lose, you lose 10% of YOUR points
- A draw will result in a 5% increase of both your points
- Winning MattyBrollic's bi-annual Tournament gets you 300 extra points
- Coming second in MB's bi-annual Tournament gets you 150 extra points

Dang, someone put in some work O_O

I will kick all your butts as soon as I get serious enough to make a real team!

MattyBrollic January 22, 2015 09:52:31 AM

How does this work? Does it include my last tournament as well?

If I calculated this correctly, both Grass and I should have 1332 points for having won 3 battles and not having lost yet

What I should have done Is started when the tournament started, that way the results would be in the correct order. I just did the scores in order of how they are listed on Challonge. That's probably why our calculations are different. I will probably go back and revise the table at some point but it should even itself out anyway at the end of the tournament.

How did you calculate them? I didn't calc anyone but Grass's and my own, but what I did was for my first battle I earned 100 points for a win making my score 1100. The second match I battled Cowboy who also had 1100 so By winning, I earned 110 which makes 1210... then for the third match I battled Pianomaster19 who also had 1210 which would make my score 1332. Grass would actually have a higher score than me because he defeated Kakashidragon in the third round who had a higher score than anyone else in the third round because someone who he defeated, Reuniclus, had a pig-tail match for his first round.

Ok, the scores have been recalculated. It was a math error on my part.

This is really cool I really like this idea! :)

#imdabes (as of the 22nd)

But in all seriousness, though, this looks really cool. I guess this means I'll have to participate in more tourneys so I can stay up on the ranking. :P

Oh, this looks interesting! This'll raise competitiveness for sure! Lots of fun!!

Dragonite January 22, 2015 09:09:18 PM

Oh, does this only count tournament play or can this count any battle we have and decide to check in with?

I'd personally suggest being careful with that. Say two people fight often, and one doesn't care about ranking but the other does. The one who does care would only report his wins (with battle videos?), and when he loses neither would report it. ;-)

Dragonite January 22, 2015 09:29:24 PM

I was thinking that, but considering we don't have tournaments terribly often this thread might fall out of use for long stretches at a time :/

What about incorporating the Gym league or something, or having formal-informal matches that count every other week or something?

Could you expand on this? Obviously with the issues Cat raised about people only reporting wins, we need some way of keeping track in a non-biased way. Matches every other week seems like quite a good idea. Depends how we manage it though.

Twiggy January 22, 2015 10:39:06 PM

I guess I'm dreadful in every possible way. My rank doesn't lie, does it?

This seems like an interesting idea. How about keeping track of points for a certain Gym? Or, I remember Team Lunacy, gaining points for defeating certain memebers. But expand on that, for example, have the top 5 battle for loss of points while the other retains their points (to keep the ranking from growing too rapidly.) I think something like that would be hella interesting. Excuse my Spanish.

Edit: About the Gyms, if Victory Road Gym Leaders could build several teams (which would allow different outcomes for repeating challengers) then hold a tourney for highest ranker for those respective gyms (8 person tourney)... Good idea!

I'd be willing to host tournaments more often if we could get similar participation as we didnl for this current tournament. Also, we could incorporate a challenge system in which we can formally challenge one an other whenever we want but the person being challenged is allowed to accept or decline

Hey, our battle was incredibly close, and you would've won had you not gotten paralyzed and your Draco Meteor not missed.

kakashidragon January 23, 2015 05:32:54 PM

I thought i was always a #2 in a ranking here over the years since ive been here.

I like the Idea of formal challenges. Also, it would be cool if you did host tournaments more often. Maybe smaller ones like 8 people single-elimination.

Dragonite January 23, 2015 11:00:46 PM

We could do gimmick tournaments like once a month, the way the monthly VGC things do. "you can only use middle stage evolutions," "you can only use physical moves," weird stuff like that.

That would be pretty cool!

MattyBrollic January 24, 2015 06:21:01 AM

Yea I'm really liking these idea, guys. Kakashidragon also came up with a mono water type tournament the way they did it in the Orange Islands episodes of the anime!

PHANTOMxTRAINER January 24, 2015 07:52:52 AM

I'm not ranked D; this has to change.. fast!

It's all based on this tournament! Don't worry, I will be hosting more soon!
