- Due to ASB being released just barely yesterday, we have jobs as of yet. Be on the lookout for some very soon.

-Like I stated above. We have no place to issue challenges. For now, you may challenge any member of VR's ASB through VRIM, a VM, PM, or any other form of communication.

teamplasma September 20, 2011 01:59:04 PM

For clarification, once me and the person I challenge are ready we just get a ref and battle? That sounds right...

Yes. Correct.

Could we have perhaps a story to be in the league. It doesnt have to be the main thing of the league. But people could eneter it and partake in the event.

Mind elaborating a bit? Are you suggesting user's write up their own fan fictions of their experience in the League?
l'm not entirely sure what you're getting at.

teamplasma September 21, 2011 06:27:47 PM

I enjoy the idea of choosing to write a fanfict of YOUR OWN adventure.. and for future thoughts there could be a thread for merging adventures. (\^.^/)

Reuniclus September 22, 2011 04:01:54 PM

Few Questions:
Where do you get the moving sprites of the pokemon?
Do you make up the stages when you challenge someone?
How do you determine who goes first in a match?
How much money do you get for winning and losing a battle?
Is there a limit to how many moves a pokemon can use in battle? (also, are the moves it uses permanent for every battle?)

teamplasma September 22, 2011 04:08:17 PM

The begginers guide has the answer to A LOT of those questions

but us This for the image URL the click the mountainy button and paste the right-clicked URL and WALLA there you have it

EXAMPLE:

Here is the URL for Poliwhirl... "http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/animated/61.gif"

Then here is what it looks like afterwards http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/s...nimated/61.gif

Pokestadium and PE2K.
Do you make up the stages when you challenge someone?
If you mean by arenas, then yes. It is the the person issuing the challenge's job to create the arena to where the battle is held. The arena can be simple, or very complex.
How do you determine who goes first in a match?
I just use the simple aspect of researching stats. Whichever Pokemon has the highest Speed stat goes first.
How much money do you get for winning and losing a battle?
Quote:

If you win a battle you will receive $10, plus an additional $5 for every Pokemon you defeated.
If you lose a battle, you will receive $5, plus an additional $3 for every Pokemon you defeated.

Is there a limit to how many moves a pokemon can use in battle?
Quote:

- A Pokemon can use any attack it has access to in the video games. No Pokemon are restricted to only using four moves per battle.

Well people can make a RP of their adventure thought a Pokemon region but that is not on topic.

Well for the Trainer stats it show everybody what Pokemon you have and your records.

If you get approved, you confirm your transaction in the Bank and then register your Pokemon in the Registration Center.
Once they're registered, you may post them in the Trainer Stats.

*raises hand*
I have a few questions.
1. Why is the currency dollars ($)? Shouldn't it be Poke, or PokeDollars? Or even something like Euros or Pounds?
2. With the Bank and money, where do you ask for money (For example, your starting money.)
3. Is there gonna be an area similar to the PC in the games? If not, would we be able to have parties of over 6 pokemon?
4. I don't understand the 'Ref Test'. What exactly are you suppost to DO?
5. Why the heck do we have to pay to evolve pokemon?
6. Would we able to obtain pokemon in the wild, at some point?

Dollars seemed like a good form of currency, plus I have no idea how to convert dollars into euros or pounds.
2. With the Bank and money, where do you ask for money (For example, your starting money.)
To get your starting money, just post in the Bank with a link to the approved Registration posts, and tell us how much money you're receiving.
i.e. Your first bank post would be like:
Link Here
$0 + $20 = $20

3. Is there gonna be an area similar to the PC in the games? If not, would we be able to have parties of over 6 pokemon?
There are really no "parties" in ASB. You can use whichever Pokemon you want in a battle, whether or not they're in your active 6 Pokemon.
4. I don't understand the 'Ref Test'. What exactly are you suppost to DO?
In the Ref test, you are supposed to create a detailed rundown of the battle round shown. You will have to calculate how much damage a move deals and how much energy it uses up using the ASB Calculator given. You can also used some of the battles already reffed as an example.
The Ref Test prepares you for what you will have to do in ASB, if you were to become a Referee.

5. Why the heck do we have to pay to evolve pokemon?
Levels don't exist here. And if we did make it free, you'll have people with their Pokemon fully evolved already!
6. Would we able to obtain pokemon in the wild, at some point?
I have plans to add a Safari Zone/Pal Park-like feature to ASB if we convert into a larger board, rather than a small sub-forum.
This area will allow you to catch wild Pokemon in certain habitats (Mountain, grassland, etc) at a small fee, around $5

Roxas September 24, 2011 08:23:18 AM

You probably wouldn't need to convert Dollars to Euros or Pounds. You could just use the currency from the games (Poke from PMD, or Pokedollars from the mainstream games.)

Also..
Is there ever going to be a ASB Gym League?

RK-9 September 24, 2011 09:20:13 AM

There probably won't. A gym league for ASB would be hard to maintain and get referees for.

Shiny September 24, 2011 09:52:29 AM

That's another thing we will have to wait for until we grow bigger.
I am neutral towards the idea though. It's a great idea, but will require a lot of work to get it running.

teamplasma September 25, 2011 07:45:46 AM

Is there any way to get Shiny pokemon? I know it has no effect on the battles, but I think later I want to be a collector, someone who gets pokemon and trades for money or just gets a lot of pokeon he/she likes for the heck of it :D

For prizes. I already have a shiny Deino that will be delivered as a volunteering prize.

As of now, there is really no way to obtain Shiny Pokemon.
Though we may hold contests or tournaments later in the future, with the prize being a Shiny Pokemon.

An ASB Official maintains ASB. They determine who will be added as a Referee.
They're basically Senior Refs.

i have 2 suggestions

1.how about a trading center?there a trainer can trade a pokemon that he doesn't need it anymore with someone else that wants that pokemon.(trade between people)

2.and how about a breeding center?there you can breed your own pokemon(or with somebody's else pokemon).if it's possible to breed those pokemon.but this shouldn't be free.we should pay a small fee.

Aquablast October 1, 2011 11:41:24 AM

You said in the Basic Guide that there will be an ability center so when will it be up?

Trading Tower posted.

The Daycare seems a bit complicated. I can't say I find much use out of a breeding feature, but if any other members want it, then I'll implement it.

Due to a new rule, you are only allowed to have three (3) active battles at one time.

What about a battle archive for battles that are done.

legendaryseeker99 October 7, 2011 07:39:12 PM

Look's like you guys've added ASB since I was gone.
Cool.

Aquablast October 8, 2011 04:37:48 PM

What about when you don't want a Pokemon you have can there be some kind of way to sell it for less then it is actual sell for, so you can get money for it but it is not the standard adopting price.

Also what about a thread that you are temp. leaving and want to make sure you don't get DQ.

What about secret codes once a month and secretly hidden in the ASB for a special Pokemon.

SyracuvatTenlii October 8, 2011 04:53:29 PM

Hmm... My comments are bold

If you don't want a Pokemon, there is a trade center. I personally think, and believe Shiny would agree, that just flat out selling a pokemon away just doesn't sound right, as if the pokemon goes away forever.

Also what about a thread that you are temp. leaving and want to make sure you don't get DQ. I think that if you ask Shiny, he can lock the battle until you are ready to continue playing. Disqualification results if you do absolutely nothing for the wait period.

What about secret codes once a month and secretly hidden in the ASB for a special Pokemon. Funny how you mention that. If I can get the green light from Shiny for this, I'm going to try to do this-- I'll make a video on Youtube and make it unlisted; that is, you can't access it unless you have the URL or a link to the video. Then I'll create a scavenger hunt for the codes, which you have to find and put together to find the video. The first person to embed the video in a PM to me wins the special pokemon. Be on the lookout for the possibility for that.

- If you really want to get rid of a Pokemon, just post a trade offer in the Trading Tower. Besides, you should really think about the Pokemon you choose when you get them.
- Well, I don't see a need for it, considering we have a thread for absences already.
So you can just put a little note that you won't be able to participate in ASB or PM me.
- Well, I plan on trying to have monthly or Holiday events when they're called for, so I'd have to say we'll hold off on this for now.

Firo October 15, 2011 05:55:03 AM

Now, I need specifics for dual-turn moves. I don't wanna get stuck on a person who uses Dive. Pretty please?

Shiny October 15, 2011 08:50:02 AM

With moves like that, you can choose to do the traditional format.
i.e.
Dive under, then jump back up.

Or issue an attack on the second turn.
i.e.
Dive, then get out and use Water Gun.

Firo October 15, 2011 10:07:58 AM

legendaryseeker99 November 24, 2011 02:00:23 PM

1.
Three action in a round, instead of two, with a maximum of two extra conditionals (ie move/move/move~move/move/move~move/move/move)

2.
Money for evolution?
Easy solution with EXP:
Each Pokemon gain one EXP for participating in battle, and an extra for each opponent they manage to knock out
Each species of Pokemon has a set amount of EXP needed to evolve (I'm not sure what the formula for this is- I'll ask Negrek)

3.
A Birthday Thread, where people can others money, Pokemon, and items on their birthday.

4.
A smoother system of grouping Pokemon together, with every Pokemon in each tier costing the same amount, based on how rare each Pokemon is (for example, things like Caterpie, Sentret, and Starly would be first tier, costing the least, while starters and fossils would be, the final tier, costing the most)

Shiny November 24, 2011 02:56:36 PM

Well I like it, but all those suggestions are exactly from TCoD's ASB. I'd rather keep the system as is and not copy them.

lucarioLOVER November 27, 2011 05:06:06 AM

I really don't understand how Pal Park works. Can someone explain a little? Thank you.

Shiny November 27, 2011 11:26:32 AM

Us Officials are still working on setting it up. Give us some time.

DJ Bird December 12, 2011 11:57:04 AM

I have a question, just out of curiosity
Since Shiny have left the ASB; who we PM now to try out for referee position?

SyracuvatTenlii December 12, 2011 12:57:58 PM

That would be me.
For future reference, any business EXCEPT the currently running Secret Santa event should be sent to me now.

Silverlands January 16, 2012 12:11:59 PM

thinking we should test out a tournament sorta thing. Currently there is no way for there to be an ASB champion or anything. If we have 8 we could try out a knockout branched tournament and see how it goes. Should be worth a try and provide direction

Shiny January 22, 2012 05:12:13 PM

as former asbking i approve this idea
lolnojk
but if mr tenlii wants to go with it, i can set it up for y'all

Shiny January 24, 2012 02:19:24 PM

Now, before I even set up a tourney, you guys have to realize that this will be a dedicated and strict process.
Dedicated meaning that we will need Referees who can stick to reffing in a 2 - 3 day time limit, and strict meaning battlers must post their moves in 2 - 3 days or be doisqualified.

e: We'll also, more than liekly, have to hault any current battles to let it run smooooooooooooothly

teamplasma January 24, 2012 02:38:26 PM

If I get a Smeargle can I use any move? I mean... Can i just use His one move that he learns or what???

Aquablast January 24, 2012 03:48:48 PM

teamplasma January 25, 2012 03:57:47 AM

Aquablast January 25, 2012 11:41:34 AM

I'll have to say yes, you can use any move but signature moves.
i.e. Roar of Time, Judgement, etc, etc.

Quadcentruo February 5, 2012 05:24:30 PM

This is a bit of a logic question that I've kinda thought about.
While a Pokemon is sleeping (using Rest or otherwise), shouldn't it recover some energy because it's, well, sleeping? It only makes sense that a Pokemon sleeping is recovering a little bit of energy while doing so. Of course, it wouldn't be recovering energy under special conditions (such as Nightmare or weather).

SyracuvatTenlii February 9, 2012 04:34:59 PM

Quad's brought up a good point. For every turn a pokemon is asleep, it's energy will be restored by 5 points.

Kaveman February 17, 2012 12:53:58 PM

Okay, well I'm sorry if this has already been touched, but I still don't quite understand the starter pokemon. We just pick any 4 1st stage pokemon or what?

ThePokeMan February 17, 2012 12:55:47 PM

I think that's in the Beginner's guide, but yes. However, no legendaries, Dunsparce, or Spinda.

smh i still dont get why yall would ban them

ps why did ya?

Quadcentruo February 23, 2012 04:42:42 PM

They're not banned, they just can't be acquired through the starting 4 Pokemon you pick. The reason for not being able to obtain Dunsparce or Spinda is because their massive movepool which can decimate opponents easily, due to stats of Pokemon playing hardly any role in battles.
