How long has your computer been on?
I tend to leave my computer on longer than it really should be. If you're running Windows, go to Task Manager, Performance, and look for where it says "Up Time;" if you're on a Mac, open a command terminal window and enter the command "uptime."
7 days, 20 hours, 22 minutes. Should probably think about turning it off and letting it cool down some time soon, but whatever. |
My laptop says 10 days, 18 hours, but I tend to put it into sleep rather than shut it down, and Windows counts sleep as the computer being on. My desktop is shut down right now. The only times I leave a computer on overnight are when I'm encoding a long video or downloading a large file.
My dad tends to leave his computers on overnight for several days, usually until he watches a movie in the same room and finds the noise distracting. |
My laptop is at 3 days, 2 hours, 57 minutes. I shut it down to rest about once every 4-5 days.
|
Right now on my desktop I'm at 8 hours 8 minutes. I do this weird thing and shut it off every night before going to bed since I'm obviously not awake to use it and it would just waste electricity.

Pretty the only computer having an uptime of more than a day in my possession is the Surface, being a tablet and all.
|
My Lenovo laptop reports 2 days, 2 hours, and 25 minutes from the time I last shut it down for maintenance, which was when I cleaned my DVD burner.
|
11 days and 21 hours... I think it's time to shut down.
|
6 hours.
I normally just turn mine off when I'm done using it for the day or I'm going to be away for extended periods of time. |
My laptop I had to force shut down because it froze on me, so it's only been on for ~6 hours and 15 minutes. My desktop, however, has been on for a meager 10 days 16 hours and 12 minutes. I don't turn it off because I don't like closing things and opening them back up.

Oh, I forgot to share this before. :P I have everyone so far beat. This is from the old server before a reboot. Look in the upper-right corner.

I had a strange feeling in the back of my head when I posted this thread o-o
Anyhow, remember how I said I was probably going to turn my computer off some time soon? Ain't happened yet . . . |
I'm currently at 2 days, 10 minutes, but I'm on my laptop right now; my desktop regularly gets past 2 weeks.
...Yeah, I put my computers to sleep when I'm not using them. The only times I actually turn them off is when I'll be away for a few days or there's an update. |
Not counting that server [since servers are meant to be running 24/7/365] I think I have everyone beat.

Trying to one-up me now, are you O_?
I'm going to try to remember to turn my computer off at least once a month from now on, because I don't think laptops are especially designed to be running indefinitely, but I'll update this post some time if I forget and beat Bidoof's high score. |

I think I
Edit, for some reason computer wasn't actually shutting off when I shut it off and I want to say the clock made it to 61 or 62 days before I was able to fix it. Didn't think to get a screenshot of it, though it wouldn't really have counted anyway . . . |

If Windows 10 didn't insist on rebooting itself all the time, my work computer would easily be at 120+ days due to having a server on it.
Attachment 6813 (Also, the Ethernet controller fried on the motherboard, so I'm stuck using an incredibly slow wireless adapter until I get a new LAN card.) |

Full-screen screenshot because I was too lazy to crop just the window. XD
Attachment 6814 Even though it says it's been up for an hour or so, it's actually been 5 hours since I rebooted due to a recent update for Bitdefender. I switched back to Windows 7 because for whatever reason, my Lenovo laptop - although it exceeded the system requirements - didn't like Windows 10 at all, and I can't blame it. The computer was taking longer and longer to start up, and when it was done starting up, Windows 10 had an update ready for me, and the cycle continued. I was wasting more time tending to updates than doing actual work. |
