Most people who actually know what's going on and follow the news and stuff disagree with Smogon somewhere or another. Some people think PranksterSwagger ban is dumb, some people think they should do something about, idk, Aegislash. I highly doubt even their inner circle agree on everything all the time.
Following anything blindly is a really, really bad idea unless you really know what's going on.
