Default What is your internet provider?

Right now my provider is At&t and haven't had a lot of problems since my family has switched to wireless.

Out where I live the only options are Comcast or At&t

Yes, there is. Buy a better plan. There's no real way for you to raise your download speed, that's all controlled by the provider.

Oh, that does it. I am unsubscribing from SBC Yahoo! DSL service. This was before the AT&T merger mind you, but I thought after that they'd do something better...

I want whatever the hell Yoshi has for his internet setup.

Earlier this year Tiscali UK got merged into TalkTalk. (Who in a study in 2009 were found to have the slowest speed of major ISPs in Britain...)

Right now, I'm using Sky internet; an internet provider you should never EVER sign up for.

They slow down the internet deliberately between 5:15 PM and 11:15 PM. I can't even watch youtube videos during that time.

We're breaking free of that provider in a few days because they're doing it deliberately and even TOLD us that they had a right to do it, despite the fact that we pay premium.

I use an Internet Service Provider called Etisalat.

I know, my package is pretty slow. That's why I'll be upgrading to a better, much faster one in the next few days.

1 mbps down/300 kbps up with the cheapest Verizon DSL plan.

I could get either FiOS or Cable though I don't do much downloading or uploading.

I'm on the TalkTalk which offer broadband and phone for a reasonable twenty or so pounds.
SpeedTest.net brought this up:

To be honest, I think this whole "Up to so and so Meg" is a huge scam, and should really be revised for honesty purposes.

This is good enough for all the every-day purposes I need, so I'm quite happy with it.

I don't know too much about computers, but I take it my computer sucks at uploading but is decent at downloading *looks at Trident's speed* my bad, my computer just sucks almost altogether.

Also, my provider is AT&T.

Not that much actually. That company provides for everything in my country, from cell phone plans to cable. Since wre such a small country, it only has like 2 rivals. And they try to direct all the customers to their company, by offering large discounts for each service subscribed. My family has starhub cable, starhub internet, starhub telephone, starhub everything :O the more we get, the bigger the value. Monthly, it costs about 60ish Singapore dollars that's about US-$50 or UK Ł30

50 mbps speeds here cost just under Ł30... Our company offers 10 mbps, 20 mbps and 50 mbps, of which we have the first one. Still, it's more than enough to do what I want! Apart from when I'm uploading a Youtube video or something...

Yep; If you look at the second one it's ping is about 2.5x that of the first one. And the speed's just below half as slow. Still, I'm freaking amazed at that upload speed. I'll try to test my school's tomorrow!

I tested at my school today, while there was heavy strain on the server (First five minutes of the first lesson) and I managed to get a download speed peaking at 32 MB/S and an upload of around 15 MB/S. Unfortunately my teacher made me close it before I could get a link or anything, so I don't know our ISP.

Your download speed is pretty good, however you upload (compared to your download) is ehh, however just looking at your upload is not all that bad at all.

What I mean is that there is such a vast difference in your Download vs Upload. Both are faster than mine.

I'd figure not many of ye heard of my ISP. XD

Edit as of Jan 5th

New router, flashed DD-WRT firmware, USB WiFi adapter and homemade directional antenna. Made out of tinfoil, a cooler vent, duct tape and legos.
Pictures here
Spoiler Alert:

BTW my down/up speeds via WIRE are 20/20.

Joy to the world. And now I can stream YT vids in HD without waiting for it to buffer! Happy day indeed!

I've been having internet troubles:

We're supposed to be getting 20Mb/S broadband. A test from a few days ago shows that we're getting 1/100 of that. Upload is better than usual though:

A test a few hours later shows a slight improvement in download speed, but there was no hope left for our upload or ping:

And then, after almost two days of no internet and minutes of being on hold to Virgin Media, we get a result!

Tweaked my router significantly since the last post. Just like before, I'm still on wireless.

GEEEK POWEEEEER!
Wired speeds are now 25/25Mbps.

Our modem was slowly dieing. Then it died. Virgin replaced it with a "Superhub" (A modem and 802.11/n router in one). Of course, with a name that pretentious I kinda expected it to be a piece of crap. Well, at least it works.

Yeah it is.

Don't tell Comcast but we're supposed to only have 30Mbps

This is why I love FlashGet. All my downloads usually go up to 1mb/s or higher.

My Internet provider? Telekom Malaysia. I'm stuck with them on a 2M connection that may or may not be slower than usual at times. Also not exactly the most reliable provider in my country. But, hey, phone service is a must, no?

Yeah, it's that bad. Barely over half the speed promised.

^ Firefox is a browser. This thread is asking what the provider is.

Mine is CenturyLink. Maybe it's more reliable than Qwest. Maybe.

Just tried out two rooms at school.

This one drops every 20 seconds because it's so weak:
