Default All those little icons of your documents...

I'm actually pretty curious, how do you folks imagine all the little icons on your computer?

Like the icons as they are regularly shown.

I hate the fact vBulletin posts the thread before you can even start typing the poll options.

Okay now I understand, well maybe not fully.

I usually just have them listed as small icons in order by time since the most recent file is usually the one I'm looking for.

I sometimes like to think that these icons are my files even though they are just a representation of data on my disk drive.

Even then, I know that it's important that I think like that, because they certainly aren't just shortcuts of any kind. Delete them? There goes.

I'm glad nobody here has voted for the first option. I know a few (mostly older) folks who think that having a cluttered desktop is the reason for a computer running slowly and simply filing them away to My Documents will make it faster.

It's usually background processes that are the real culprit when it comes to things like that.

I think I'm a bit weird for picking the second choice at the end...

Yeah, I think I worded it a little oddly, but it's this: not falling for the fallacy that having a large number of icons eats up more space on your hard drive than having a few, regardless of their content. (Don't get into allocation units.) I have personally seen this before, too.

Still, thinking these icons as your actual files might make you treasure them. Love them.
