Default AntiVirus Scam

An anti virus program called "antivirus action" has now invected my computer.

It will not let me use any programs claiming them as a threat.

The only interent page it's letting me go to is where I can buy the entire program and it won't let me do a full scan until I buy it.

So ya I have a nasty scam on my computer.

...What the heck's with all these viruses circulating on VR now? First SoT and Fubab and some others got their e-mails out, of which SoT and Fubab's sent malware to all their contacts, and now you've got this while Lux has had one similar, named HDD Scan, however she can use things, however her computer's usability is slowly fading away...
I strongly recommend you backup all your stuff then move restore your computer to factory default status, unless of course a virus scanner cannot remove or stop it.

*facepalm*
The program doesn't let you restore, it's just for scanning. Click the Full bubble then press Scan. If that can't remove the virus, then you'll need to look around your computer to find the restore to factory defaults settings.

The biggest tip I could give you is not to have downloaded it at all.

Although now that you're infected, I guess that can only really help you in the future. Can you open the Control Panel or Windows Explorer?

If all else fails, all I can recommend is the ultimate fail-safe: Reformatting :O

Mine was almost the exact same as what you're saying, Mag. It was trying to sell me some program that will fix my computer. I actually couldn't use things, unless they were open before the virus really started working. The only way it would work was if I ran it as an administrator. Now though, my computer is working perfectly fine and it doesn't seem to have any problems.

When you get Windows up with a black background, download and install http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Run a complete scan if possible. You can still get to VR at this time if you need help. I'm off to sleep very soon, though, so don't expect help from me this morning.
You'll have to be in normal mode to install it though.

This is the part where I get to gloat for being on an OS no one wants to bother programming viruses for.

Also, for future reference, I use McAfee/Norton (the Yahoo!/AT&T ISP-provided antivirus programs) on the PC and they work fantastically.

Erm...okay then.
Problem's been solved so i'll be locking this, unless anyone have a valid reason for me to unlock it.

EDIT: Open per AshArmy's request.

Microsoft Security Essentials is now also available on Windows Update, for anyone to download.

I need help getting rid of a new malware program called AnitiVirus Monitor and running Microsoft Security Escentials isn't detecting it in safe mode.

I'm thinking of just giving up and finding a way to just delete all my files.

If it lets you use System Restore, just do that.

Also, once you do that, there are three things you need to Google:

"avg free"

"mbam"

"ccleaner"
