Default Equestria Girls - First trailer released

Unless you have been living under a rock, you most likely know about the Equestria Girls movie that will be premiering soon.

For those of you who have been living under a rock, EG is going to be a MLP FiM spinoff movie where Twilight enters an alternate universe where everyone is oddly-shaped humans. She has to face the challenges of being a high-school student and doing stuff.

Today, the New York Times posted an article of the movie, including the first trailer.

Most MLP fans are (very) skeptical about this and how it will turn out. On the one hand, an open mind should be kept open (after all, at first we all though a revamp of a cheesy 80s cartoon aimed for girls would suck), but on the other hand the idea is very "out there" as most would prefer ponies going on adventures then girls facing the "very difficult" time of high-school.

My thoughts are summed up in Pinkie's last line of the trailer: "I'm so nervouscited!"

I actually have pretty high hopes for this. If I could be convinced to watch a girl's show about ponies, something I didn't see myself doing a few years ago, then I could watch a high school themed cartoon. I mean, I practically grew up on those. It's not like the whole theme of it is gonna drastically change because they're humans (Plus with those colors they barely even look human.)

I can see they offed Twilight's wings from the original pictures, too. Or were those fakes?

Hm, so Twilight and Rarity appear not to be able to use magic.

I can clearly see wings on Twilight, Rainbow, and Fluttershy in the promotional shot, but I don't think I saw any of them with wings (as humans) in the trailer. I wonder if that means anything.

I'm definitely walking in with an open mind, but I'm still quite skeptical of how this could get pulled off.

This doesn't bother me, Teen Titans Go has ruined my faith of faithful adaptions.

You know what I think? It ain't all that bad. It's terrible, but it isn't all that bad!
I respect the animators for trying to make this as good as possible.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It looks like another generic high school cartoon, which I think have been done to death. I'm also kinda freaked out by the fact that they're all still their candy colored. I'll try to keep an open mind. After all, the MLP team have managed to break one sterotype, that being that all little girls cartoons have kid's exposition and flat characters. I'm hoping they can do that again. But ya know, always keep an open mind.

I can't help but comment on this after seeing this show up in io9 under the "Please God No" tag. That is... unexpected. Some people will probably love it, while others might want to burn it. I'm not into this MLP thing, to be honest, but sometimes... I get weirded out from things like this. I've always thought of things like this as fan territory.

It is interesting, though, when you think about where this came from.

At first I was like "Meh". Then I saw the pictures and was like "OH GAWD NOOOOOOOO!! TOO SKINY AND BARBIE LIKE!" But then I saw the Trailer and was like: "Ohhh? Well this is actually looking not too bad"

And I feel like one of the only very few people to actually like it and have a desire to see it. I'm actually sad that the only showing in Missouri is on the other half of the state, and I need to check the Illinois showings carefully and see if one is nearby. I don't like the anthro designs still since they're TOO skiny and barbie-like but I can still see Ponies shining brightly through that human flesh. So I have good expectations of this, oddly enough. xP

Man of Steel is supposed to be very bad so I may just see this in Theaters on Sunday depending on how many people will be there.

The only theater in my state showing it had it on once at 10AM so I guess I'm not seeing it.

There is only one theater in the entire state showing it today, and it's a pretty far ride away. However, there is one closer (one that Cat, Green and I saw Pokémon the Movie White: Victini and Zekrom in) that will be showing it on July 13th. Might be something for Cat and I to do if it isn't out by then.

The movie was actually pretty good. However, it was very obviously fan service and felt like an Easter egg hunt of picking out which characters matched up with which ponies. Certainly not a bad thing, though.

Talk about a crazy crowd, though. The showing was completely sold out, and people applauded lots of random things (Derpy's appearance, Fluttershy saying "yay," the remixed theme song, the way that certain other characters were introduced, and obviously once the credits started). The movie was a Blu-ray being played on a PS3 hooked up to the digital projector.

As an owner of a cheap seat ticket, I just saw the movie today on The Hub. Aw, it was so very cute~ I don't know how anyone could've bashed something like this~ Though the plot didn't have many twists it ended on a nice resolute point.

Truer to the series than anything was that Pinkie was so weird it even surprised me.
