Default Happy 20th birthday Mario Kart!

That's right, one of the most popular racing games turns 20 today! It was on this day in 1992 that a little game called Super Mario Kart was released in Japan (followed by a US release 5 days later). A game that started out just to be a multiplayer game similar to F-Zero became one of the greatest hits to grace gaming. From beating your times on the track, to multiplayer fun Mario Kart has proven again and again to be a smash hit with no signs of stopping. Thank you Mario Kart for the countless hours of fun, and here's to another 20 years!

My complete collection of all 7 Mario Kart titles.

Wow, 20 years of amazing racing fun. It's only 2 years older than me but I've played most of the Mario Kart games that I can. They were all very fun and each new tittle adds new features and many more fun courses to race on~! Happy Anniversary, Mario Kart!

I never enjoyed them. I don't know why. I favoured Crash Team Racing over Mario Kart.

Things like this make me feel old. And I'm only 16. I just heard smash mouth for the first time in 9 years that made me feel worse seeing how I didn't have Nintendo products when I was young.

Happy Birthday to my favorite racing game, Mario Kart! *Throws a cake* This series is so great. I never thought that a game where throwing bananas and shells just to tick off friends and family would be such a great hit. Wait... yes I did. Funny, I'm only missing 2 of the Mario Kart games, for the only 2 systems I never owned, but I have played all 9 of them numerous times. (Well, the arcade games a lot less, but y'know)

It seems that a lot of major Nintendo-related anniversaries are coming up on us very quickly, and this is one of the stand-out ones to me. While I haven't been a fan of the series from the get-go, it seems to have evolved over the years into something that anyone can enjoy casually. I myself have owned 3 of them, and played 6 of them at one point or another (Mario Kart DS being the only one left out). I think it's fair to say that this is one game that deserves this major milestone.

20 years? It seems like not to long ago when I first played the 64 version. That is some crazy stuff! I am so glad that Mario Kart has been successful for so long. It is pretty beneficial to Nintendo too

It's good to see a good game live on through the ages. Glad to see it still standing strong. C:

I have Mario Kart DS but I don't ever play it...maybe I should play it some to commemorate the 20th birthday.

Whoa...no love for Double Dash, guys? I'm disappointed.

My brother and I played that all the time. It was one of our first three GameCube games that Christmas. <3

I did have older versions, but Double Dash is where I really felt the love. It was simply amazing

I love every single Mario Kart game equally, except Super Circuit, it was so unfavorable. Great, but unfavorable. I didn't like Super Mario Kart either, but the perfect Rainbow Road made up for that 100 times over.
My first Mario Kart was actually Double Dash, and it took me SO many years to complete the stuff in it, but I did it. I mostly main the Toads with it. Next came Mario Kart Wii, DS, Super Circuit, and then 3DS. I play the arcade version whenever, y'know, I go to the arcade.

I've never really had many fond memories of Mario Kart except a little bit back in '02~'03 when I had a little video game station setup in my large closet and I'd often play games with some friends I had back then, including some Mario Kart 64.

To this day, I own Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit (3DS VC).
