Default So I was tethering off my phone's data...

...when an incoming call arrived and I picked up the phone.

Surprisingly, the data connection held and I'm still able to change pages on the laptop.

I wonder how does one determine whether a phone can do data and voice at the same time? I know that my old phone killed 3G as soon as a call came in.

Mine can do that all the time. My old LG Ally couldn't. I guess it depends on how effective the phone is at multitasking. Also the fact my current phone has a dual-core processor may be a factor as well.

It means using your cellphone for internet access, then getting a phone call. The call didn't drop the internet access.

It's actually something that is more dependant on the antenna used - it's been confirmed that some iPhone 5s won't be able to do just that due to the antenna used.

Ah. Thank you. I have one of those penny phones (phones they don't make, so sell them for a penny) and it doesn't have that capability. That's why I wasn't sure

Hmm, so I just paid more attention to what I'm doing with my old phone. Turns out that it didn't drop data during a call, either. How did I come to the conclusion, anyway? Foggy memories? Oh well.

I still can't believe some top-end devices still can't do this today.
