Got a bunch of games for free from GOG[dot]com (as part of their free game collection), including Ultima 4, Tyrian 2000, and Stargunner. I have yet to install and try them out, so I'll get back to you on them later.

Got a "broken un-tested" Sega Master system and 4 Genesis controllers for free (plus $10 shipping) that arrived in the mail today. Here's what I took out of the box:
OH ARCEUS! Looks like it got eaten by a hungry Snorlax. Luckily it uses the same hookups as the original Genesis so I plugged it in... . IT'S ALIVE! This is straight out of the box, no cleaning or repairs or anything done to it yet. Reason 3574320 retro gaming is awesome: You can throw game systems at a bear, and they will still work. Try finding an Xbox 360 of that cosmetic shape but still functional. Last edited by Yoshi648; December 12, 2013 at 06:09:20 AM. |

Let's see...
Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics for free from GOG. In addition, I also got Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition and SimCity 2000 Special Edition from GOG, too, but this time it cost... what, $25.48 for all of them? Sometimes you do get unexpected discounts... Too bad GOG is hammered right now. |

Gah, stop logging me out, GOG.com! *finally claims all three*
Edit: I get the feeling they're going to be getting a bit of my money over their holiday sale. Edit 2: Aw crap, the RCT trilogy is on sale. Edit 3: *tries desperately to give them money* Edit 4: Bought RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum. (I already own RCT 2: Triple Thrill Pack.) Time for another episode of Wacky Items Yoshi Bought That You've Probably Never Heard Of:
This is a Nintendo 64 Hori Mini controller. This controller was only released in Japan by Hori, who is known to make very good Nintendo accessories. As my low-light pictures show, it's a bit smaller then the standard N64 controller and looks very much like the GameCube controller. Since the controller itself is smaller, the buttons are more cramped together, D-pad was relocated to the bottom, and the Z trigger on the back was made into a 2nd set of shoulder buttons. That being said though, it's a really nice controller. Buttons are nice and responsive, analog stick is great (it's almost exactly like the kind found on the GameCube controller, great for 3D platformers and Mario Party mini-game madness). It takes a little time to get used to, but it feels nice to hold and works great. If you play a lot of N64 games you should consider getting one of these, though be warned since they were only released in Japan it can get a bit pricey ($60-80 on eBay, I got mine for $40 shipped from one of the gaming forums I visit). A more detailed review can be read here. |

Got an Azurite blue PS3 today for Xmas that came with a free controller AND a free copy of the Jak and Daxter collection. I'm hoping I can get Ni No Kuni, since I saw it for like 10 bucks somewhere. Also, I need to get Shadow of the Collossus from PS+, here's hoping it's still available on xmas.

Got an original Nintendo DS (and I ain't talking about the gray thing released in 2004)
A 1988 Safe Buster Nintendo Game & Watch. $33 shipped off eBay (well will be $40 total after my aftermarket battery cover arrives to replace my custom LEGO plate + packaging tape solution). A good deal, this is like a $75+ system (and in excellent condition to boot). Funny story about this. Many years ago (like 10-12) my sister used to actually have one of these (exact game) that was given to her. She eventually got rid of it, and I didn't claim it (this was when I was much younger and before I got into video game collecting, as far as I was concerned it was just a cheap $1 store type game). Of course now as a collector I'm still kicking myself for letting that go, though at least now I got a nice replacement. Last edited by Yoshi648; December 20, 2013 at 09:26:10 PM. |

I splurged on old games with Christmas money. I got...
Mega Man 8 (PS1) Mega Man X4 (PS1) Mega Man X5 (PS1) Ghost in the Shell (PS1) Comix Zone (Genesis) ...For a total of about $70 shipped ($4 shipping for each one, that's ridiculous!). I took $20 off of that with a gift cars, so I pretty much negated shipping costs. edit: More games, this time off of Steam. The Sonic Hits collection, including a ton of Sonic games new and old (way too many to list, and I already have a few of them on various consoles, but oh well) Jet Set Radio HD (I was on a bit of a Sega trip when I started shopping) WRC 4 FIA World Rally Championship Magical Drop V ...For a total of $47. It's only been a day and I've already spent $100 of my Christmas money on video games. ._. Last edited by NismoZ; December 26, 2013 at 01:38:46 PM. |

Traded in a few unneeded Super NES sports games and an old Windows 98 trackball mouse... for a more updated optical 5-button mouse, which seems to match my laptop's style better than the tilt-wheel optical mouse I have been using. The tilt-wheel mouse will now be used with my older PCs.
I also traded in two of my Game Boy Color games for Pokemon Trading Card Game, a hybrid monochrome/color Game Boy cartridge. Although the game works fine, I question the backup battery's condition and I will check it out later. EDIT: Turns out that the mouse I've recently acquired does in fact have a tilt wheel. Epic! At a flea market in Florida, I picked up Casper the Friendly Ghost and Drakkhen [SNES] ($15) and Soul Calibur II [GCN] ($7). I also spent, like, 10 bucks in the arcade. I've determined that if I had one near my house, I would never, ever have money.

I recently bought Soulsilver and Black 2 (because I lost that, including the many legendaries that were on it...) for a total of $65.

From eBay I got Mario Picross 2 (Japan only release) for GameBoy for $10 shipped.
Then at a garage sale this morning I found this for $3: Original GameBoy (with battery cover), link cable (still in original wrapper), Super Mario Land (in place of Tetris), manuals, and a box that looks like a animal and/or small child ate the bottom corner of. Mario Land I'm definitely keeping since I don't have it yet, still debating if I want to sell the rest to put forward to replacing my PS3 since I already have a boxed GameBoy (later release box). Ah the 80s/90s when "Powerful CPU and micro-processors" were buzz-words on every electronic device. |

Just got the WHOLE HG/SS soundtrack off iTunes(yes, including the retro songs~) so now I can listen to the surf theme and just melt in happiness ON THE GO~! Along with this I got some Beatles songs such as "Something", "Good Day Sunshine", "Oh! Darling", "The Ballad of John and Yoko", "All Those Years Ago" (off George's solo career), "For No One", "(Just Like) Starting Over"(John's solo career), and my current favorite song, "Octopus' Garden". And since when I'm on shopping sprees I just can't stop I got Nano Assault Neo for the Wii U(there's another game for the list, Turt. )

I must be some kind of magic man, I guess.
And good choice, indeed. I love the way All Those Years Ago sounds, it's got that shaky sound in a way, kind of like the shaky that you get when you remember a distant memory filled with nostalgia. And the surf theme is just a personal nostalgia trip and I'm pretty sure it'll always will be. I might even consider it my personal theme song eventually~ |

Bought this exact Game Boy Advance for $15:
Game Boy Advance (AGB-001) - Glacier
When I got it, it was very dusty yet fully functional, and it took me just two cotton swabs moistened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the entire case and buttons. Also, the battery door's clip was busted, which was nothing that a short strip of Scotch Tape couldn't fix. I bought this glacier GBA to replace the indigo GBA that I lost because of my own negligence. I busted the screen on the indigo GBA while trying to clean it... real nice effort, Seiji. >.< Last edited by Seiji J. Konokama; January 31, 2014 at 04:19:53 PM. |

My parents snagged Melee, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness at a thrift shop in Hawaii for me. They were $5 each. At a Salvation Army, I got a PS1 with all cables, an OEM controller, and Crash Team Racing for $10 (everything works just fine). At a localish game store, I got Ni No Kuni (white label, $20), Gex: Enter the Gecko (cheap...?) and Lost: Via Domus (for my sister , $7). I'll be busy for a while.

Not a purchase (haven't posted in a while because paying for a LEGO project), but a very random find.
2K Games has an office within the office building I work in. I went to take out some garbage today, and found these sitting on top of the recyclables dumpster: These are 2 sets of boxes and manuals for the Xbox 360 development hardware Sidecar. From what I've read, the Sidecar is an attachment that plugs into the harddrive slot and functions as a DVD emulator (so as games are revised, they can download the game data and run it off this instead of constantly having to burn disks to test the games). Yeah just box and paper isn't really exciting on its own, but I thought it was pretty cool. Luckily I was able to save these before the rain started coming down. |

Found a wireless mouse for $10 at Big Lots... and because I'm a member of their discount program, they took 20% off, so I only paid $8.50 for it, including Ohio sales tax. I'll still hang onto the wired mouse I found earlier in case, God forbid, something goes wrong with the wireless.

Since I found this statement completely relevant to me right now, I just figured I might as well restate on this thread that I'm also looking to buy a SNES (probably from Amazon) and start collecting games for it, probably starting with good ol' SMW or Yoshi's Island. I already have most "great" SNES games on other consoles, but I just feel like it's my favorite console of all (tied with GBA) so I might as well get the actual console. Along with this, I recently found a really good deal for a cheap gamepad from a pretty trustable source on ebay, so I'll probably be picking that up, too. Wish me luck!

I don't know if you could call it a purchase, but I bought Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream off of Club Nintendo for my Wii U. It was 200 points, so it wasn't so bad. I've always wanted to play the game, but I never got around to it. Now I have the chance!

Remember those Sony monitors I got half a year ago? Well....
I found the 20" model! This is a Sony Trinitron PVM-20N6U. As stated in the original post, these Sony Trinitron broadcast monitors with the right cables are the best possible picture for old video games. Cool story bro time: While I love my 14" one, I've been wanting to upgrade to a 20" one (largest screen size you can get before the image starts getting distorted again). Of course I thought this will be a while since they aren't the most common thing to find, and good luck buying online since shipping will be a fortune. When I got home from work, I went to one of the video game collecting forums I visit. I couldn't help but notice on the side bar where it shows latest random messages from members, one message said "Anyone in Vegas looking for a Sony Trinitron studio monitor? There is a sweet PVM-20 in great cosmetic shape for $49 at the *Goodwill 30 minutes from my house*". It's 6:30PM on a Thursday, I got a quarter of a tank of gas, and there is a thrift store half an hour away that may or may not have an old CRT monitor according to some random person on the internet.....hit it. I was very happy to find it still there (of course no one wants CRT TVs anymore) in excellent condition (and even came with the original manuals). Next question is will that wire frame shelf cart hold this 62lb beast. |

I finally found an estate sale containing thing that appealed to me.
I got another SNES w/cables ($24, no yellowing), a Super Advantage ($15), and OEM N64 controller ($6), a .hack Quarantine [part 4] demo disc ($2.50, sealed), a GameStop A/V switch that may or may not work ($6), and a Super Smash 64 guide for $.70. I think I finally made out well. |

A Yoshi 3DS XL (big surprise). I've been considering upgrading to the XL model since I love the larger screens, and between the Yoshi edition and free Pokemon game figured now would be the time to strike. New for $180 shipped off Amazon and got a free download code for Pokemon Y. Already did a system transfer from my regular 3DS so all my goodies are now here as my new main system. Cursed Mountain (Wii) for a whooping $6.80 - I was looking for a cheapie Wii game at Gamestop and happened to stumble upon this interesting game. Playing this game is like reading a horror novel, nice, fresh, and exciting. A true page turner. In terms of gameplay, I thought it was going to be an RE4 clone, but this simply is not the case. There's always an interesting event happening. And the atmosphere is by far some of the very best I've seen on the Wii, right next to the Mario Galaxy games. An interesting game worth being checked by any Wii fan, both casual and hardcore. Just be wary of the slow start.
