Default Pokémon Emerald: My Log

Since it is summer and the new Pokémon games won't be here until October, I thought I might replay Pokémon Emerald, which I haven't touched for more than 5 years, wasting some time.

I will post daily, or whenever I play, to keep the thread updated. You might catch some memories as you read my log.

Looking further to your log, I happened to be going to start an Emerald Nuzlocke soon for Youtube. I guess Emerald is making a comeback from the death.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #1

Today, I arrived in Hoenn. It was a long journey, sitting among the boxes in that truck. I lost the count of time, but I sure was relieved once we arrived. Thankfully, there were some Pokémon there unpacking our boxes, so I didn't have to waste my time in that. They were pretty fast too.

Once rested, I went to visit Prof. Birch, our neighbour and a friend of dad. He was away, but I met his daughter, who is at the same age as me. Her name is May, and she has a Pokémon! When I went outside their house, I heard a young girl requesting me to come over. She remarked that she is hearing some screams. I approached Route 101, to find a young man chased by a Zigzagoon. He asked for my help, pointing at his bag to grab a Pokéball.

There were three Pokéballs. Without hesitation, I grabbed what was tagged as Treecko. I used it and a green, leafy Pokémon went out, Pounded that Zigzagoon and rescued the young man, who turned out to be Prof. Birch! He thanked and rewarded me by letting me keep that Treecko. I was pleased.

Upon his request, I marched to Route 101 to meet his lass, May. Pounding my way through this Route, I reached a small and a very close town, called Oldale Town. Nothing much was there, so I proceeded to Route 103. I climbed those cliffs to finally find May at the end of the route. She offered me a battle, and wow, I won! Her Torchic couldn't resist Treecko's Pounds.

We went back to Prof. Birch, who rewarded me again with a Pokédex. I also talked to my mother, informing her that I will be off to fill that Pokédex of Prof. Birch. She gave me Running Shoes in return, and asked me to pay my dad a visit. And so I did.

It was quite long, but still, Petalburg City is close to Littleroot Town, so I arrived at noon. I met my father, and a guy named Willy, who is also at my age. Apparently, he was moving to another town and wanted a Pokémon, so I helped him catch a Ralts. Dad was impressed with that, and so he asked me to visit Rustboro City, where I can challenge my first gym.

Route 104 and Petalburg Woods were in the way, but Treecko was strong enough, learning new moves and dominating other trainers and wild Pokémon. However, in the woods, I faced a member of a pirate group, called Team Aqua. Thankfully, I defeated him and was rewarded with a Great Ball by the man I protected! Not too far after that incident, I arrived in Rustboro City.

I haven't roamed around yet, but it sure looked big. Nevertheless, it is night right now, and I should take a rest. I will continue my journey tomorrow.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #2

I woke up early in the morning and sped up to Rustboro's gym. Treecko fought her way through the gym, until we met with the gym leader, Roxanne. She specialised in Rock type Pokémon. This was advantageous, since Treecko Absorbed both of her Geodude's power, winning against them. The real trouble was her Nosepass. It endured Treecko's Absorb, probably due to its Steel nature. Luckily though, and with the proper items used, Treecko knocked out Nosepass and evolved to Grovyle!

As I exited the gym with the Stone badge in my case, I met with the pirate I ran to yesterday. He was running ahead, with the man I protected yesterday, following him. I follow them as well, meeting that man at the edge of Route 116. He requested me to help again, as that pirate has stolen his goods he had to deliver. I couldn't refuse... so I went ahead. On my way through the route, I met a Taillow that was able to withstand Grovyle' attack. Thus I captured and added it to my team.

Continuing on my quest, I entered Rusturf Tunnel, where I located the pirate, holding a Wingull as a hostage. Taillow swiftly Pecked his Poocheyena, while I rescued Wingull and retrieved the stolen goods. Wingull's owner, Mr Briney then approached me and got his Wingull back, while I went with that man to the company he works in.

It was called Devon Corporation. As thanks to my help, I was given another Great Ball and the president handed me a navigation device, called PokéNav. In return, he requested me to deliver those important goods to the shipyard in Slateport City and a letter to his son in Dewford Town.

After checking the map, it turned out I had to cross the sea to reach those places. I was told that Mr Briney was a sailor before, so I went back to his cottage at the edge of Petalburg Woods.

He offered me a ride to Dewford Town, a very small island. The locals told me that a man, interested in rare stones, entered Granite Cave. As I entered it, a hiker warned me that I require the move Flash, and it can only be used after obtaining the Knuckle Badge from Brawly.

Frustrated, I went out and to Dewford's gym. Taillow was a great assist, knocking out all the gym's Fighting Pokémon. Brawly was a challenge though, especially his Makuhita, but in the end, he fell for Taillow's Wing Attack. After obtaining the Knuckle Badge, I ran to Granite Cave, where I met an Aron and included it to my team.

I climbed to the deepest and highest cavern. A man stood there, who turned out to be Steven Stone, the son of the president. We chatted with each other after delivering the letter and then each one of us went in a different way. In my case, I rode Mr Briney's ferry and off to Slateport City.

I was amazed with the clean beach and big market, but since I had to deliver those goods immediately, my enjoyment didn't last long and I proceeded to the shipyard.

Unfortunately, the captain was not there. I had to search for him...

I think I started to understand what the goods are: blueprints for a submarine that can take the captain to an underwater expedition. It makes sense the pirates want it.

Anyway, I found that captain in the museum. After delivering the blueprints, we were ambushed by two pirates, who got defeated by Aron and Grovyle. Then there captain arrived, whose name is Archie. He seemed strong. He blabbered something about Team Magma, and warned me not to interfere in Team Aqua's business any more. Sir, yes sir...

After dealing with all this trouble, I spent some time in the Battle Tent, and here I am now, taking a rest, to continue my journey tomorrow.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #3

Today was a relaxing day, compared to the previous two. I left Slateport City and proceeded north to find myself face to face with a small hut. When I entered it, a voice challenged me to find it, and as I did, it turned out he was the Trick Master.

He challenged me to solve his trick, and so he disappeared. I entered through a scroll to find myself in a maze, with many trainers and shoots to Cut. It took me sometime to solve this puzzle, but it was quite beneficial for my team. And when I solved the puzzle, I got a Rare Candy as a reward!

When I went out, I went further ahead, challenging trainers and meeting an Elektrike! I captured and added her to my team, before meeting May. She offered a challenge and I have to admit, she has become much stronger than I last met her. I almost lost, but in the end, I was victorious. She gave me an Item Finder as a gift!

Going further north, I finally reached Mauville City. It is a very big one, with many entrances that I got lost. A helpful citizen guided me to a bike shop, where I bought a Mach bike. Its speed is fantastic, especially after trying it on the cycling road!

After having that much fun, I returned to Mauville City to meet the most unexpected person: Wally. He wanted to challenge Mauville's gym, but decided to try out his luck against me first. Too bad he lost, but he definitely has been training with his Ralts.

When the battle was over, a gaming corner caught my eye. I went in there and tried to get some coins, but... I lost all 20 of them. I doubt I am ever getting in there any time soon.

It is night already. I think I will try challenging the gym tomorrow. The problem is... it seems my team isn't strong enough. We will see about it tomorrow.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #4

I decided to train my team further, thus I moved east to Verdanturf Town. I met Wally there, as well as participated in the Battle Tent tournament. After this quick, refreshing trip, I went back to Mauville City and entered its gym.

I manoeuvred further until I met Wattson. He is the strongest gym leader so far! My Aron hardly defeated his Voltorb and Elektrike, to be crushed by Magneton. Using all four of my team, after reviving Aron, I suffered a lot until I finally defeated Wattson. However, I was nearly out of usable Pokémon, which rendered me defenceless against his Manectric.

I think I will train further and develop a better strategy. Then I might be able to take down Wattson.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #5

I woke up early in the morning and kicked-off to Wattson to re-challenge him again. This time, I packed my bag with more Super Potions, X-Attacks and X-Speeds. And the abttle started.

I sent out Elektrike, while he chose Voltorb. Elektrike wasequiped with a Quick Claw, and so, outsped Voltorb, paralyzing it with Thunder Wave. This halted Voltorb for several minutes, while I switched to Aron and fed it a number of X-Attacks and X-Speeds. Aron then used Mud Slap, knocking out Voltorb.

Wattson sent out Elektrike, which withstood Mud Slap and attacked with Shock Wave. Aron then used Metal Claw, knocking out Elektrike. Luckily, Aron honed its Attack after Metal Claw, putting me in a further advantage.

Magneton was Wattson's next Pokémon. That Pokémon, despite being too weak against Ground moves, it was able to stand against several Mud Slaps and put Aron in a lot of suffering.

Manectric was Wattson's last choice. A fine choice; it defeat Aron. My only Pokémon that could hold Manectric was Grovyle, and so I chose her. It was a long ******** between Manectric's Shock Wave and Grovyle's Absorb. When things were undecided, Grovyle used a Quick Attack to finish the battle with my victory.

After settling dow, I got a call from Steven, advising me to investigate Granite Cave again with my bike. I did so, and discovered newareas I never saw before! I also went back to Rustboro City and Rock Smashed the rocks blocking Verdanturf Tunnel.

Now I am back again in Mauville City and read to head north tomorrow.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #6

While I was preparing myself to go north through Route 111, I decided I should pay the Trick Master a visit. I rode my Mach Bike and went south, entered his house to find a while new puzzle.

This one was trickier than the first puzzle, but fun and an extra experience boost for my team. After walking around the maze, I finally solved it and got myself a Timer Ball as a prize.

Departing from the Trick Master's house, I went back my tracks along the cycling road and continued through Route 111. There were two huge rocks blocking the way, but with my new HM, I Rock Smashed both of them and proceeded further.

Around the corner, where Route 111 and 112 meet, laid a desert. I couldn't enter it though, due to the strong sandstorm, which clogged up my eyes and throat, and blew me away. In the end, I ended up going through Route 12.

Up there was Mt. Chimney, a volcano that erupts once in a while. I didn't want to climb it, and so drifted to take a cable car, but the entrance was blocked by two men, wearing strange red shirts. These two men were talking about waking something, a Meteorite and Fallarbor Town. I didn't understand anything, and since they refused to let me in, I had to climb through the mountain's tunnel.

It was a quick trip through, and once again, I emerged in Route 111. Route 113 was just ahead, and it that route had a spectacular view! Volcanic ash was falling from the sky, just like a rainfall, and it covered the land, bushes and trees. It was fun walking through the dust, and what was more exciting is when Taillow evolved to Swellow!

Finally, I reached Fallarbor Town. I haven't taken a tour yet, since it is night. I am resting in the PokéCenter right now. To be honest, what concerns me the most is to train my team more, since I had a hard time in the last gym.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #7

I woke up today to be told that Prof. Cozmo was kidnapped by strangers, wearing red. Immediately, I recalled the two men, who were blocking the way to the Cable Cars. I exited the PokéCentre and checked the town, whose people we all in panic. A witness informed that those men took the professor to the cave ahead, and so I followed them in.

The cave was dark, filled with Zubat and Graveler. Not far away from the entrance were a number of those kidnappers, along with Prof. Cozmo. As soon as they spotted me, one of them challenged me, but lost. While they were preparing to launch a full attack against me, Archie appeared with some of his pirates and surrounded them. Cornered, they fled, but with a Meteorite with them.

Prof. Cozmo went back home, while Archie explained to me that those people are members of Team Magma. It is a team that does evil deeds and are trying to erupt Mt. Chimney. Now I don't understand Team Aqua's logic, since they aren't good themselves, but erupting a volcano, that has to stop!

I ran all the way through the cave until I found myself back in Route 115, next to Rustboro City. This region is so complicated... Without hesitation, I sped east to Verdanturf Town and then to Mauville City, to go north Mt. Chimney again. This time, the cable cars were accessible, and so I rode them up the mountain.

There, Team Aqua and Team Magma were fighting against each other. I sneaked ahead until I found the machine, powered by the Meteorite, and ready to erupt the Volcano. Next to it was a man, who seemed to be the leader. His name is Maxie.

We battled each other, until he finally lost. It was a hard battle. He left in frustration, talking about awakening something within the volcano. Now that was something I haven' heard before, and sure is mind-puzzling. It seems this Maxie is hiding his own objectives, even from his goons.

Anyway, things settled back to what they were before, and even Team Aqua disappeared. So, I climbed down the mountain to Lavender Town.

It's a small town, with only the gym being a remarkable building. I went in and challenged the gym. The leader was a girl, named Flannery. Her grandfather is rumoured to be as strong as an Elite Four member. She was strong herself, but lost to my Swellow in the end.

While I was happy with my fourth victory, Dad called me, inviting me to challenge his gym. I was surprised with this invitation, but also pleased that Dad has finally recognised me. Soon after that, May showed up and gave me the Go-Goggles as a gift. With these, I can access the desert, north of Mauville!

Of course, I went there. As I travelled across it, I found myself in front of a huge, sand tower, called the Mirage Tower. I went in and climbed upstairs, till I found two fossils, resting. I grabbed one, and while attempting to get the second, the tower collapsed. Everything sunk down beneath the sand, while I barely survived. It was quite a disappointment, but I managed to capture a Trapinch and include it to my team.

I am currently resting in Mauville, anticipating the moment I challenge Dad tomorrow.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #8

I barely slept last night. As soon as the sun rose, I rode my bicycle to Verdanturf Town, sped through the tunnel and hurried through Rustboro City. As I reached its exit, a professor from Devon Company stopped me and asked if I have any fossil. Since I have one from Mirage Tower, I gave it to him. He inserted it into a machine, which after a while, resurrected a Pokémon, called Anorith! I thanked the man and continued my tracks through Petalburg Woods.

It didn't take me a lot of time with the aid of Cut. Sooner than I expected, I found myself facing Dad in his gym. He and Slaking were the toughest foes I have ever faced so far, but Grovyle was able in the end to cut through Slaking's tough skin and fat, earning me the victory I always wanted, and my fifth badge.

I had breakfast with Dad after that. Mum joined us. When we were over, I wished them a good bye, and decided to find my way to the sixth gym.

On my way, Wally's father encountered me and gave me HM Surf as a thank you gift for helping his son. This HM is quite useful, not only it is devastating in battles, but also allows me to ride my Pokémon, while they swim in the ocean!

Suddenly, I had this idea to reinvestigate the aquatic parts I passed by in my journey earlier, instead of continuing my journey ahead.

First, I surfed to Dewford Town. After that, I surfed east to Slateport City. On my way, I entered an Abandoned Ship, where I found a powerful TM, Ice Beam. Aron also evolved to Lairon in there! After reaching Slateport City, I went into the Trick House, which had yet another trick. Once I was done, Wattson arrived and requested me to do him a favour.

He wanted me to access New Mauville and switch off the generator, before it gets caught in fire. And so I did. The quest was troublesome, but the reward was great; TM Thunderbolt.

I rested in Mauville City for a while, to meet a fisherman, who handed me a Good Rod. I tried it in Route 117 and caught a Corphish, which got included in my team. Now, I finally have my full team, and ready to take on the remaining three gym leaders.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #9

I started my journey today by going east to Route 118 and Route 123. Route 123 was blocked by cliff hedges, so I had to go back, and travel north through Route 119 instead.

This route had a lot of very long grass that covered me whole. Bug maniacs and ninja trainers swarmed like bugs in there. They all wanted to battle me. The good thing is that the battles were enough to make my newly caught Corphish experienced enough to evolve. Yes, Corphish evolved to Crawdaunt!

Overjoyed, I cycled my way further north to find two pirates of Team Aqua blocking the hanging bridge. That was annoying, but at least, I knew that their leader is in the Weather Institute nearby. I went there, to find a Team Aqua leader, along with several of her subordinates, had kidnapped the workers there and demanding a special Pokémon that is affiliated with weather. As strange as this was to me, I ended up defeating all of them with Trapinch, which evolved to Vibrava midway through. As a thanks for saving them, the scientists gave me a gift; Rotom, that changes its form with weather.

My team and I took a rest in the nursing room of the institute, and then headed forward to the nearby city, Fortree City. Just on its border, I met May, who challenged me for a battle. She lost; she gave me HM Fly as a reward for defeating her.

I finally reached the city; a stunning view; tree houses and people living in harmony with nature. Mobility is a handful, but not impossible. It was a good experience. But the fact that the path to Fortree's gym was blocked wasn't pleasing. I couldn't understand the situation, since the path looked very clear to me, but something there was solid enough to block me! I was frustrated, and so were other challengers. Thankfully, a man I know from before came up to save us.

It was Steven Stone. He had a device, which could detect any invisible object and make it visible. As soon as he used it, a Keckleon appeared and fled. Steven gave me this spectacular device to help me in my journey.

After healing and preparing my bag, I stepped into Fortree's Flying gym. I battled my way against the trainers and finally reached Winona, the Flying gym leader. She was stocked with enough Pokémon to go against me, but her birds couldn't withstand the zapping of Manectric and the freezing of Crawdaunt. Thanks to both of them, I got myself a sixth badge!

Now, I am still enjoying my time in Fortree, before going ahead.

Pokémon Emerald: Day #10

I woke up to the chirping of Taillow and Swellow, as they flew across the sky of Fortree City. After enjoying a healthy breakfast, I started travelling down Route 120.

This route had rain pouring down the whole time, slowing me down as I moved through the mud that formed along the way. When I finally reached Route 121, I took a rest until my clothes dried of.

White I sat below a tree, I eavesdropped a group of Team Aqua pirates, deciding to follow Team Magma up to Mt. Pyre. Nothing good comes from these two teams, so I followed them.

When I reached the peak, Team Magma had already gone, and Team Aqua were on the move to flee. I wanted to follow them, but I had to stop and check the two elders who were attacked by both teams.

These two told me of the legend of Hoenn; long ago, two mythical Pokémon fought against each other, causing destruction across the region. These two Pokémon were subdued using two mystical orbs, Red Orb and Blue Orb. The elders also told me that these orbs hold the power to awaken both Pokémon. They also informed me that Team Magma stole the Blue Orb and Team Aqua stole the Red Orb.

After thinking about it, I figured out that each of these teams is trying to awaken one of these mythical Pokémon. Now I don't believe such legend, but I think those teams do! If I recall, Maxie was trying to awaken something from Mt. Chimney and Archie told me how the ocean should expand. These two crazy men actually believe the legend! At least, their aims aren't that serious...

I continued to Lilycove City, where a huge group of Team Aqua pirates were stationed. After picking up some information form the locals and May, it turned out that their hideout is there. I tried to sneak in, but in vain, as it is guarded well. However, I got some serious information; Team Magma are at their hideout in Mt. Chimney and are trying to awaken the land Pokémon.

I guess I have to Fly there and check what is going on.
