I hate the radio and all it's mainstream stuff. My number one favorite type of music would be a very close tie between Immediate/Movie style Orchestral pieces and Hardstyle. My second favorite type is probably Drum and Bass & DrumStep followed by Trance (mostly Hard Trance) and then Dubstep. Can you see a trend yet? I basically like hard and dramatic songs, almost always in the Minor key signatures... none of that super happy sounding stuff. >w<

I like a lot of things, really. I like pop for when I want to dance around and sing along, and classical for most of the rest of the time. Gustav Holst is probably my favourite composer, Jupiter is so beautiful and Mars is amazingly energising. Despite how much I like music, I find I don't listen to it all that much. It's strange.

I just enjoy good music. If I find it good, I'll listen to it, since I am a man of many tastes. Except for country, that's the only genre that I dislike as a whole. Maybe 1 or 2 songs, but the whole country thing never dishes out any "winners" for me.

I can enjoy many kinds of music. But when I really just want to get into the music I listen to music that a lot of other people don't listen to. Like Indie Rock, Alternative, Alternative Rock, Alternative Pop, and Light Pop. Not a lot of people listen to those kinds of music, so I really hate that part, but the music is amazing.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who only listens to Hip Hop and Rap. ;'c
I listen to pretty much nothing else. But when I say Hip Hop and Rap I mean actual Hip Hop and Rap not that LAMBORGHINI MERCY YO CHICK SHE SO THIRSTY stuff. But what rappers I listen to depends on how I feel. Rap has emotions and diversity too, guys. ;'c So yeah, swag. Last edited by Shiny; September 13, 2012 at 03:37:03 PM. |

I like anything with nice, dynamic melodic phrases when it comes to video game music. Outside and inside video game music, I like hard percussion, and a nice, deep baseline. Don't even get me started on Slap Bass. Sexy, sexy Funk. I also enjoy electronica, trance, jazz, classic rock, big swing, techno, 90's dance, and 90's hip-hop.

I'll just say that I like and am willing to listen to most anything, but in general I usually don't like country, rap, hardcore rock, or metal. There are some songs that I do like every here and there, I think it just depends. But to be specific on what I do like, that would probably include a grand majority of pretty much all video game music, Most of all types of electronic music, classic rock, modern rock(but not as much), Pop/some rap, acoustic, big band, symphonic/classical pieces, jazz, simple and calming music, and the list goes on.

Certainly not any modern day music on the radios because it's all the same and is just disgusting to listen to (ever pay attention to the lyrics?). I prefer listening to video game soundtracks because they are almost always thought-out to have a strong emotional impact or just be absolutely gorgeous to listen to. If not VGM, then probably some older rock songs or practically anything that isn't modern day to be honest.

Oooh, another thing that I forgot and just remembered as I was adding songs. Showtunes! The one thing that gets me to love a show a lot more than any other is a great handful of songs every other episode. Shows like Chalkzone and Phineas and Ferb have some of my all time favorites, even Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is high up due to their 1 amazing song; Pizza Party. (Or was that the band who made the song? Whatever.)

All sorts of genres in any language I can understand. I limit rap since sometimes I can't understand it, same with other songs where they talk too darn fast and use too much of dat auto-tune stuff. I prefer to stay away from Country since it is tied to a higher suicide rate and such, but I'll listen to it.
Prefer most songs instrumental. Metal, Rock, and Electronic (and their varieties, except for Dubstep, to an extent) tend to be what I like best. |

This isn't exactly a genre, actually it's not a genre at all, but I have a certain affinity for songs written in the call-and-response format. I don't know what it is, but I know it's not just a Beatles thing (Even though they did have some great ones pre-1967.)
She's got the devil in her heart~ "No no, no this I can't believe!" She's gonna tear your heart apart~ "No no nay will she deceive!" I also find some of the things by The B-52s to be very good. The male-female call-and-response they have going on is pleasing to my ears. Bang bang bang on the door, baby Knock a little louder, baby Bang bang bang on the door, baby I can't hear you |

Underground rap(MF DOOM, Pro era, The Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, etc.)
I'm starting to get into Pink Floyd. Listening to The Dark Side of the Moon, so if someone would like suggest any artists/bands that sound similar(or some of their albums I should listen to first) that would be great. |

I personally suggest Queen. They're one of my favorite classic rock bands. More artists that might be more similar to Pink Floyd include Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Who, and Dire Straits.
We've also got a resident Beatles fanatic who would definitely suggest them in a heartbeat. |

I like most of the Queen songs I've heard, especially Bohemian Rhapsody, so I'll be sure to check them out.
I've listened to many of the Beatles songs every now and then when I'm sick of rap, so I'm quite familiar with them. |

I absolutely adore me some Psych Rock~ It's so pleasing to the ears and the bass is just freeeeee. The Beatles played a key role in its inception. |
