It would probably see as much, if not than less activity than our Victory Road Steam Group. Not mny regular users on here (that I know of) don't care for FaceBook, so a FaceBook page isn't really necessary.

I think teamplasma might be correct if the Facebook page is capable of promoting the forums and thus, more members can join. Maybe this idea needs more thoughts than an immediate decision.

Now think of how many people would join the page, rather than both the page and the forums.

I think Cat is far too busy with the site and the going-ons here to even bother with trying to make a game for FaceBook. And again, think of how many people would join just to play the game or just because they like Pokémon and not bother to join the forums.

Absolutely not. That'll just cause drama. If you dislike someone's post, you just have to post a reply with a proper explanation of why.

Floatzel.Net's homepage is handled by a feed from the news here. Small projects get updated too. Changing that button isn't as easy as it seems. (Let's just say that I didn't know then what I do know now.)

Can we have a sub-board for general "Ask This User" threads? I'm pretty sure there's a lot of popular non-mod users who'd like to have a thread for general questions.

640x640 seems to be quite... small for computer screenshots in albums, now that we are requested to use the albums for all uploaded photos and images.

Can we have the resolution limitations increased to 1024x1024 or at least 800x800? You don't have to change the file size restriction.

Hm, I think I can raise it now. I think I found a mod that allows you to do a "click to view full" thing with it.

Great! When will it be implemented? (Also, I'm thinking of pictures stored in albums. Are you thinking of the same thing?)

Should there be an ability to retract likes?

I know this is also hard. Probably impossible... But maybe a nice project would be making this site have a mobi. Because I travel a lot, and it would really be convenient if you had a simple Mobile version. Because right now there is a lot of work involved in things. Post in advanced for is the hardest thing to do right now, along with chat. So I just thought that would be a good project

For the chat part, use VRIM Lite mode. That's basically the mobile version of VRIM.

Will do, but that isn't the main thing I do here. That I'd minor to me.

Anther thing that would be nice in the mono version was if VR automatically filled the page. Like you didnt have to zoom in every time you change pages.

There seems to be a lot of mobile-specific skins for even vBulletin 3.8.x, so I hope that you do find one that's suitable. (And fully featured!)

Umm... I know I don't have a whole lot of free time with VRGL, but that will calm down soon. So I was wondering if I could, somehow, make a style for the site, or whatever you call it. I don't care what it looks like if you want a say on what it does look like.

I did ask for a Legend of Zelda theme awhile ago, so maybe you could work towards that once VRGL badge requests calm down a bit.

If they allow me to do one, I would have to think about it really hard. Because I dont have a favorite pokemon, and my favorites that I do have are all unpopular so people wouldn't like it. I could aim for legend of Zelda, but I will need to practice for that. Because I am so used to only using pokemon.

But I am still waiting for a reply and who to contact for dimensions and a list of things I need to make and what I need to do with them.

A'bom made the newest skin, so he'd have the dimensions and specs you're looking for. As for actually being allowed to, you may have to ask at about that. Given that A'bom a full Admin now, I suppose he may be able to field this question on his own, but it is going to affect the entire forum, so I'd still ask Cat just to be sure.

The only problem would be that "popular users" is somewhat arbitrary, so it'd be hard to justify giving only those members "Ask [Insert Username Here]" threads and not others.

About not allowing image hot-linking...

Doesn't it defeat the purpose of image embeds?

I don't think a blanket ban on image hot-linking is a good idea. While VR's own album functionality, and attachments may work well enough for most purposes, there do exist file size and amount limits on VR.

If anything, I think, maybe, we should try to loosen up on this.

I don't want to ban existing images. I just want folks to try doing it with new ones. If you have an image over 10 megs, odds are you are providing a bitmap or an image most of us wouldn't want to use.

I think the code is acting a bit wonky anyway.

10 megabytes is an exaggeration, but I now wonder about the usefulness of GIFs in the fun threads.

Sorry Cat, but could you raise the number of maximum Social Groups per member to seven?

Lots of members probably have good ideas for groups, yet not enough room for more of them. Considering that possibility, maybe the extra space could just end up being put to good use. For example:

- A Ninja Baseball Batman Fan Club
- A Jet Set Radio Fan Club
- A Super Nintendo Fan Club
- A Final Fantasy Fan Club (LugiaDialga, Reuniclus, and Twiggy are Final Fantasy Fans. Why is there no club!?)
- A Legend Of Korra Fan Club
- TV Has Gone Downhill Fan Club
- People Who Try To Get The Best Water Temperature In The Shower But End Up Burning Or Freezing Themselves Every Morning Fan Club
- The I Hate Monday Fan Club

See! So much we haven't even touched!

I've only ever made 1 club, I think. I could easily make you a NBBM, Korra, Monday, and SNES fans group.

Maximum number a user may create, or may join? I haven't touched any of the settings regarding those in 2˝ years, so I'm not sure what they are.

He means the max number a user can create. He's reached his limit, but he wants to make more.

I'm honestly curious, now. How the heck is seven too few for a single user to create? I don't want this to turn into group and invite abuse; Facebook already exists for that.

I've only made 1 because of User request. I'll gladly spend my 6 groups on you, Gallium, if you want them so badly. Even on Facebook I've never made any groups.

The social groups, to me, are just things to show a user's particular interests or his/her personality. It's like getting to know somebody without even talking to them - you just have to look at what social groups they are a part of to understand who they are.

Is there/shouldn't there be a "General Forum Questions" thread? So instead of making a thread about how to get a full list of smileys, they post here. It would (hopefully) reduce future threads that are only for one question. I don't know... I just thought that it was a good idea.

I prefer folks posting individual threads on the support board. Once an issue is dealt with, it gets moved to the support archive to avoid cluttering up current issues. One problem with a single thread is I tend to forget things that are not important, so I won't even remember a suggestion unless a lot of people talk about it, as the suggestion may be a few pages back in this thread. Still-relevant questions can be kept relevant by leaving their threads on the support board without locking them. Then, a quick glance at the thread titles allows me to see everything that's still active.

I think a mod should make a thread in the art section specifically made for showing off sprites, graphics and drawings and sticky it. I think it would encourage people to get involved in art. xD

We do have a Artwork Showcase thread (which hasn't been touched) and a Spriting Showcase thread if that's what you were looking for.

I was woundering if you guys had like a video site or something where we could watch anime's and stuff without having to search online for places that might not have good videos and/or dont even work? maybe aslso have it linked to VR so we can still be loged in for other stuff.

We do have a video site. It's called YouTube.

Anime? Nope, read the rules.

I'm thinking, on the Topic Title board, you know how I said it needs a space under the 15th link to make it look more aesthetically appealing? I think taking a series of characters like this,

"___________________________________________"

This,

"-------------------------------------------------"

Or this,

"**************************************"

And putting it under the 15th link could fix this problem. You could make this string of text the same colour as the background of the Topic Title box, which should be a white-grey-beige. If you could centre it and program it so that you can't click and drag over the text to get that blue highlight, that would also be a nice touch.

I would make it better (And allow more content) in signatures if the [center] was now [c] and such. I dont know if you have control of this, but here is a list of suggestions you could do.

[center] = [c]
[left] = [l]
[right] = [r]
[youtube] = [yt]
[YOUTUBEWIDE] = [YTW]
And attachments go with a simple A.
[quote] = q

I left the List ones out because it would make it more confusing.

Some of those aren't even allowed in signatures to begin with, notably the YouTube ones. The other ones are short enough that you don't get enough lines to really worry about abuse.

Not necessarily signatures. But all in al you are right, I just thought it might be easier for others.

Sometimes, even shaving a few characters off a tag could mean the difference between something fitting within the signature and not.

I have wondered why the character limits are relatively low: even dial-up/GPRS should be able to handle kilobyte snippets of text just fine (why?)

To prevent people from having signatures that are larger than 80% of their posts. The size of signatures could've been crazy and Cat didn't want to deal with the "Show all" button in signatures. So he got rid of it, but said there would be a limit to how much can go into your signature.

Heh. That does make sense, but there's always been something that's bugging me about said signature limits. 800 characters with BBCode, and 5 lines of text. It does make the post-to-signature ratio much better, that's for sure, but to be honest, when the adopts get a bit messy, and when I want to have a bit more control on the styling of the signature, well, things might just get a little bit messed up. I know for sure that I can't port over the "spec sheets" signature that I have in a certain other forum I use, even though the text doesn't take up much space, due to its high character count.

Hmm...

Wow, Dark Illusionist's getting pretty old as I keep using it, and I can't seem to find something that looks modern, clean, and suitable for night viewing (something light-on-dark).

Think someone could try a hand on a new forum skin?

(No, don't say Windows High Contrast. That's system-wide.)

I offered to help with one. But I will inform you know, I have no idea how to construct the forum part. But, that is an offer, I dont really care that much if you dont want me to. Maybe LD could, she is very talented at banners.

Contact Cat privately. Cat is too busy with many projects that he would forget what is getting posted in this thread. Contact Cat and ask him of the requirements and see if you have the skills needed. Usually, Cat takes care of the coding, so it shouldn't be a problem if you don't know that.

I personally am not too fond of "modern" layouts. They often have too many graphics, and are not worth the effort of browser testing, including mobile browsers. Even if I did make one, I wouldn't make it the default. I prefer simplicity and functionality over fashion.

I think there's more to it when it comes to a "modern" layout. You could even take the general vB 3.x forum skin's base layout, and only tweak the colours and images in use, and you can end up with something that is both appealing and simple.

Also, as an aside: Fix the hotlinking ban. Whatever it is, it's also affecting images that are merely linked with URL tags. Nice way to ruin stuff...

Flesh out the MLP skin. Looks a bit old, sometimes fails to render. Thrre's a lot more ponies that could be used in a lot more places.

Yeah, that skin is pretty bad. When I made it, I had no interest in any of the pony stuff, so I didn't know what to put in it.

We have both mentioned this before: What about an achievement system. It is like getting a badge, but not like getting a pokemon rank. It is for preforming certain tasks. It is just a fun fun thing to aim for.

But I know nothing about coding and stuff, so I couldn't judge what could/couldn't be done.

I think I actually was about to try this once, where you had to find a certain number of "objects" hidden around the forum. The top winners would get special VRAC pets. Maybe I should actually go through with it this time.

I guess Cat wasn't willing to say this for the 5th time, but we used to have one of those, but it didn't work for technicality reasons.
He said it was broken. I'm not sure though, as I only remember the Experience and the Awards being broken. The forum would give you an achievement for making 10 posts, 100 posts, uploading a photo, etc.

That was an automated achievement system. What you might have in mind is a system of manually-distributed achievements, like with Smogon. Like you would probably have an achievement for managing the Victory Road RP. I don't see anything wrong with that, but I bet Cat is paranoid about forum-breaking features at this point.

It's not really paranoia, but moreso laziness. I'd rather put my coding towards projects like VGVids, but when I think of how much work I have left in that, I slink back to playing Pokémon or Borderlands or something else.

I do know of some other vB3 forums that do have this functionality, so you might want to consider asking for help from other forums.

This isn't really an question this more I saw a mistake.

"Pokemon Black & White
Black and White; Reshiram and Kyurem; good and evil; one new region: Unova"
I think that was meant to say Zekrom.

I don't expect you (Cat) to get to this right away, that is if you decide to go with it, but....
Think we could have a complete overhaul of the arcade? About half of the games are way to buggy to be enjoyable. In fact, let me just list the faults in the games I found faults with:
Bugs galore. Like Freeze.
Air Hockey - the opponent's country isn't shown properly and the hockey disc doesn't always act properly
Archery 2000 - the speed of the target isn't always the same (which seems to be intentional), causing each game to be based more on luck than skill.
Asteroid's Revenge - the ships can sometimes shoot right at you the moment you lose a life, causing the game to be more luck based than skill.
Big Money - only issue I have with it is new lines are luck based and can screw you over at times.
Breakit - Some paddle powers have odd hit-boxes and the right wall has improper physics.
Classic Frogger - the game ends after two levels.
Donkey Kong - Hit-boxes seem off.
Donkey Kong Jr. - sometimes the game just freezes without warning.
Galaga - very choppy enemy motions.
Jump Mario - movement is very hit-and-miss and ledges are very buggy.
Pac-Man Avoider - buggy music and very little feedback as to what's happening.
Pinball Deluxe - the ball seems to have predetermined paths. I've even managed to get the ball stuck in a spot where it would get points constantly but would never fall, even with tilts.
Space Invaders - the invaders never reset where they were when you wipe out an entire line.
Spider Solitaire - scoring doesn't make sense.
Tetris - when a block is touching another block, there's almost no time between the time it touches a block and the time when it sticks.
Typing Contest - the game will sometimes end randomly. Also, this is a very bad way to measure someone's typing ability.
Way of the Stick - yuck.

Remember that just because a game functions doesn't mean it's good. I think the older members could say the same thing about a certain former admin's coding.

I personally never even wanted the arcade in the first place. Freeze insisted on adding it way back when installing vBulletin. I'll gladly remove heavily glitched games, though, once I can figure out how to do so. I'm not sure how to add games.

I will add on a comment that the air hockey game is full of luck and confirm the Archery 2000 game too.

Okay, so I always thought that the HGSS walking pokemon emoticons should be ones here on VR.

Here are the ones that I think could be put into use.

Could those be added to the emoticons list?

Hi there! Sorry if this has been asked, but is there a way to remove the activity feed at the top from showing? It's kind of distracting for me and I can't find a way to remove it in the user CP, though I could just be missing it.

I am not familiar with the activity feed. You might be talking about the following.

In the User Cp is lists the subscribed threads and such. You may click the blue and white arrow to minimize that. Here:
The User CP.

On the main page, or the Index, you might be talking about the last posts.
This is unable to be take away by the user.

The "New Posts" thing is only for viewing the recent posts so I don see how hat could be burdensome.

Did I help you? I am not sure what you are talking about though.

Yeah, sorry about that, I meant the last posts/second thing you mentioned. Stinks it can't be taken away, but I'll live. XD; Thank you!

Is it possible to have a way to mark threads as unread? It'd be useful for my poor memory when I have read something, but can't reply to it right away. Unless there already is some way to do this?

Yeah, like how emails can be marked unread. It's just a minor convenience anyway, maybe now it means I'll get to work my failing memory.

Hm, you can mark private messages as unread, but you can't do it to threads, visitor messages, comments, or subscriptions.

You could try leaving yourself a visitor message, PM, or personal offline note with what you'd like to read, but that's probably not as convenient.
