Default JJ's Poehtreh

The title is a reference to how I accidentally said poetry once. Anyway, I suppose I should get down to the poetry now. Here's something I came up with today:

The Light was Seen

The light was seen,
As it was appearing
Over the horizon.

I watched it rise and appreciated its splendour,
Not realizing what it was.
Or what it meant.
Impending doom?

Alas, it wasn’t, I eventually realized.
I still wasn’t sure what it was or what it meant,
But I knew it was important and not a bad thing.

Funny thing is, people call the opposite as
“Finding the light”.
Well, I found the light
At the same time that I lost it.

Like holding a flashlight and thinking it’s bright as the sun.
When the sun rises,
You’re proven
Dead
Wrong.

EDIT: I realized it's closer to "paowetreh" but that doesn't look as good anyway.

Another poem, one I wrote a few weeks ago. It's tentatively titled "Alexander, for one", a reference to Alexander the Great. Buuuut I'm not sure about it.

Alexander, for one

And, as the dust settles,
the whole world controlled,
one man turns the Other and asks,
“Now what do we do?”

EDIT: Yeah, now I'm thinking I really don't like it. I'll try to think of something better...
