Default VIP Status

So, I think people who donate should get a VIP status, with like a VIP area to them selfs, a usertag, and the ability to make a custom user title. What do you think?

Umm. this is actually kind of a selfish post if you ask me.
People who do not have the ability to donate would feel kind of discriminated and I would strongly oppose it.

I agree with JC.

Some people who are unable to 'obtain' a VIP account may feel left out.
And besides, this is a Forum. It's not like an MMO with Premium accounts that give you extra abilities.

To sum it all up, I think it's unneeded.

You're pretty much suggesting that donating makes you a mod without a colored name.

Donating is for those who have come to love the place they done to so much that even if they did donate, they would not expect special privileges and be fine with it.

Privileges may encourage more people to donate but.. I don't really like that concept.

I was thinking maybe more along the lines of what SMW central does, and simply have an icon next to your username showing that the user has donated.

Leave the money out of the equation and I'm sold.

MarioKartWii.com has a program like this.
The money gained from it is used to help support the site and stuff, but it's really become a mess.
Being one who donated money to that, I was able to get on the VIP's private board, chat, and other things. What you paid wasn't worth the money.

Do people act like their better with VIP? No
Do people who can't pay feel like their left out? No. In fact, some say they wouldn't even want it for free.

It's a good idea for certain sites, but I don't believe VR has a need for it.

I can see your concern with this, but I have one thing to prove. Pre-paid Visa cards, it's basically like a gift card, and you can use it online, just saying.

That would work

"with like a VIP area to them selfs" - Mods have one, too.

"a usertag" - Mods have thier mod usertag...

"and the ability to make a custom user title" - I'm not sure anyone at all has that.

And so basically you're saying that users who donate should be mods without powers or a colored name, yet are superior to normal users who have not donated. Basically in-between mods and users.

Why do you keep on pressing this issue? I'm saying that not everyone has the ability to donate, anyways it seems like many people agrees with my post earlier in the thread.

Regardless I still oppose it and I hope it never becomes a reality, if I donate, I don't want anything in return, that's the purpose of donation. (Giving without the want for something in return)

I like selflessness, I even like the concept, heck I would donate if I had the means to (which I don't at the moment).

Jenova, if you look at JC's first post on this thread it has 11 likes, including the big man himself, Cat. I think you should not push this any more.

As JC said, selflessness.. It's an awesome thing. Sometimes selflessness will make people look up to you much more than if you had a benefit and were "better then them" and this is the same thing here. Just do what you can to help others and that will in turn benefit you even if it is not instant.

To me this idea sounds too much like bribery. Those ideas are better suited for those who actually earn them, not for someone throwing money around.
