About PvP - None of that unless both sides accept, correct?

Also, what flying mod do you use? I think I'm going to get on the server now, haven't played Minecraft for a month or so. But I'd love to be flying.

I didn't think I had to actually implement a rule about PvP, but then I remembered what kind of people use my server .-.

I think it might actually be better if I turn it off <.<

I use zombe's mod pack for flight. I'd link it but their forum software put the title in the link, and the title changes every few days.

Are explosions enabled on this server?

Also zombe's mod pack: www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=96815

I set up a redstone powered machine that can (for now) duplicate blocks.
Things that cannot be duplicated:

Redstone
Redstone Torches
Redstone Repeater
Snow (stuff that goes ontop of blocks)
Ladders
Dead Shrubs
Tall grass
Flowers
Mushrooms
Saplings
Sugar Cane
Leaves
Pumpkins
Cobwebs
Cacti
Note Blocks
Dispensers
Chests
Crafting Benches
Furnaces
Jukeboxes
Cake
Doors
Ice
Obsidian
Water
Lava
Portal blocks
Levers
Pressure Plates
Monster Spawners
Boats
Beds

Step 1: Checking the machine works:
First off if these 2 Redstone Repeaters are not alternating between on and off, don't bother continuing.

Step 2: On and off
The Redstone wire I point here is the on and off switch. Having it placed there means it is on. If it is not, it is off. The Redstone wire when not in use is to be kept in the chest

Step 3: Duplication
Stick the block you want to duplicate here. Place the Redstone wire where I showed in the last pic to turn it on. Give it a minute and you'll have a line of the block you wanted to duplicate. You can dig the block while it's on, it'll duplicate to fit where you dug the block. It's easier to turn it off when you dig. (To turn off just remove the Redstone wire where I showed in the last picture.)

This machine is for everyone to use. Do not steal anything from the chest nearby. When finished with the machine put the Redstone wire in the chest nearby. Please let me know if there are any problems with the machine and I'll fix it ASAP.

Disclaimer: I take no credit for this design. Feel free to copy. This machine may not work in a future update. I take no responsibility if this happens. This guide was created by Zsaberslash. Copying is allowed with permission only.

Just taken a look and it seems to be working. Also from now on if the machine is broke, VM me and I'll sort it.
Edit: Nevermind, it is. Someone messed with repeater. Fixed now anyway.

I think I made the stupidest mistake ever on this server. After randomly taming a wolf, I built a doghouse... and then I made the floor pink.

Well, my village is coming along nicely. It's got my house, a guest house, a dock, a fountain, a wheat farm, and a mine.

Can I be added again. I don't know if I've been transferred or watever.

(*sigh* starting over again.)
I haven't been on for a while, and may not be on for a bit longer. Has notch put up 1.7? I don't have a computer to check it

I actually needed ideas for my village, too. But since you do your /give-ing and whatnot you might as well just build a castle or something.

Duplicator Machine is fixed. Got attacked from behind by an exploding creeper which destroyed part of my machine. (The sticky piston and a single redstone wire (I have plenty of redstone wire so I could fix that, but I had no slimeballs so the sticky piston couldn't be fixed))

Fixed my duplicator machine, again. One of the repeaters didn't want to work in the place it was so I had to move the whole machine forward slightly.

Edit: Looks like there's gonna be a 1.7.3 which apparently fixes "8 bugs mostly related to pistons". This is probably gonna break my duplication machine for good, so dupe stuff while you can!

So, if you saw in the Unofficial Server thread, I've been trying out some new texture packs. Those who were on the previous world probably knew about Victory Tower that I was building. Here's how it looks at night, using the Aleph Setei tp that I mentioned in the other thread...

Ooooooh~

Just in case none of you have seen this yet, here's a new mob from Notch:

And with the gamma up:

Aside from the picture, nothing's been revealed.

Now I don't know about you guys, but seeing one of those around the corner of a cave will make me crap my pants. They're creepy as hell! I might be playing on Peaceful for a while after 1.8.

As soon as I saw it the first thing I thought of was Slenderman, actually.

Then it was how many new pairs of underwear I'm gonna need when 1.8 comes out.

EDIT: Apparently the mob's name is "Enderman". Go figure.

EDIT2: Even more enhanced image:

EDIT3: DRR DRR DRR

I already have enough diamond blocks without even having to use /more to get a full set of armor so I should be fine. Still, we know nothing about how this new mobs works.

I've watched far too many Slenderman ARGs.

Um I have a theory as to what this mob will be. I think by the looks of it thes things may spawn in dark and sometimes in caverns underground and possibly dig holes. I think they may be actually very tough with health. And may be hostile in that they could grab you and drag you into dark places and attack you. Just a random thought I had.

I could be, and probably am, way off

No, that actually sounds pretty good, especially considering that Slenderman would probably do the same thing, and I'm pretty sure Endermen are inspired by that dude.

It'll be creepy if I'm right on, and if I am

Then it'll be even more creepy when it has 9 health XD cause I said in my theory that it would be tough.

Notch needs to make a boss sort of mob that only spawns rarely and is really tough.

My theory is that these mobs are the NPCs that reside in the villages. After all, one of them is carrying a block, and in one of the pictures you can see one of the giant mushrooms that was featured in the screenshot released of an NPC village. I dunno, just a thought.

Very true. They could be passive npc mobs unless you were to attack one. And they could just build stuff or dig holes in a small village. It's just that their creepy look just kinda makes me think hostile.

Also there's a very small but very real : P chance that notch is just screwing with us and isn't gonna put this mob in there, photoshop does work wonders

Notch if you're reading this ignore umbreon. Minecraft is scary enough as it is.

Oh ****.

That was the scariest Doctor Who episode.

*weeps*

I'm getting frightened (And also somewhat excited) just thinking about it.

This was pretty much my reaction:

This blog post contains extensive spoilers about a new mob in the adventure update. Don’t click “read more” unless you want spoilers!

Fear is one of the easiest emotions to evoke, but doing so in a way that doesn’t frustrate or fatigue the player is more difficult. I find this fascinating. What parts of fear are fun, and what parts aren’t fun?

One of the biggest game design decisions in Minecraft is that all (well, most) negative things that affect the world or the player should happen near the player, and be clear to the player. That’s why creepers only explode near players, and that’s why fires stopped spreading indefinitely. This is somewhat related to my dislike of mazes in game design, where the player has no way of knowing or figuring out before hand what decision is the correct decision. Don’t penalize the player for things they can’t control.

Last weekend, I started working on a new mob because I was frustrated with the slow progress on some town code I was writing, and for some reason I decided to make yet another creepy one. It’s dark, it has long and narrow limbs, moves very slowly, and will pick up blocks and move them around. I wanted this to be a mob you only saw in the distance and a mob you’d be afraid of, but when I playtested it, it mostly felt like a regular zombie. There’s was a distinct mismatch between looking creepy and not actually playing creepy. When I made it move faster towards the player when attacking, and deal more damage, it got more difficult and I started respecting it, but it never felt creepy or scary.

So I thought some about what “creepy” actually is, and it’s more about trying to avoid something from happening than it is about actually having that thing happen. If you know something bad can happen if you do the wrong thing, you will start thinking about your actions, and that might make things more scary.

So I made it passive until you looked straight at it. And that was scary. Suddenly you could walk up to these looking beasts (they’re three meters tall) and watch them as they moved their blocks around, but as soon as you happened to look straight at them, they’d attack. And by “straight at them”, I mean putting the reticle on top of them. You can keep them visible on screen and actually look straight at them in real life, but as soon as your in game character looks straight at them, boom.

Still, that was more scary than creepy. It’s like a jump scare in a movie. You know it might happen at any time, and when it happens you freak out a bit. I wanted something a bit more psychological. So to really drive home the point of looking at them being bad, I made the Endermen freeze and turn towards you when you look at them. As long as you look straight at them, they stand perfectly still and look straight at you. As soon as you look away, they will run (very fast) towards you.

And they teleport. If they’re too far away to reach you in a short period of time, they will teleport about once per second. They try to make sure they always teleport to somewhere you can see, as I don’t want to confuse the player as to what is happening.

When they attack, you know it’s your fault. When you happen to look at one, you can keep looking at it to figure out how to deal with it, but you know it WILL reach you very fast once you stop looking at it.

And that, my friends, is creepy. Possibly too creepy.
Oooooooooooooooooh...

Yeah, but I think it's pretty similar to what the real Endermen will be like. 'cept they'll probably resort to attacking you faster than in the video once you look at them.

Probably. Though, just having them in the screen isn't looking at them. Your mouse crosshairs have to actually move on to them for it to be considered looking.

I know.

Honestly though, right when 1.8 comes out and I update I'll be going straight to find an Enderman.

If Notch really wants to make it hard to survive he'll add natural disasters like this. Tornadoes, earthquakes, maybe even hidden volcanoes under mountains...
