It might be a good idea to consult a resource like the Mozilla Developer Network (MDN) instead. I have noticed that if something that is listed in W3Schools contradict what's on MDN, and almost all the time (all the time?), MDN is the right one. W3Schools in particular sometimes have spotty syntax, poor practices in code, and mislabelled support.
Of course, references are only assets and resources, after all. The only way you can be sure is to test out your site on what you want to support.
