Default JULY TOURNAMENT - Victory Road's VGC!

Welcome to a long overdo installment of one of Victory Road's tournaments. I do apologize for the long delay between tournaments. A drought of good requests are to blame for that, as I had not been able to host any myself. But my fellow forums-goers, that is the past, and this is the now. This month, I will be hosting a tournament based on the official Video Game Championships that are going on this summer. Everyone is going to be in the same bracket. I doubt that we'll get enough to do that. Anyway, the rules are as follows:
  • Battles will be conducted in Flat Double Battle format on DS over Wi-Fi
  • Each Pokémon cannot hold more than one item. The item it has originally shall be the one it has for the duration of the tournament
  • Prior to the start of the battle, the Pokémon on each player's team will be displayed to their opponent briefly. Moves and held items are not displayed due to the way flat battles are conducted.
  • While viewing the Pokémon on their opponent's team, each player selects four Pokémon to use during the battle, and sends out two Pokémon at a time. The Pokémon that a player selects and the order of those Pokémon remains a secret until they are revealed during battle.
  • Players may only enter Pokémon from UnovaDex numbers 001-148 and 151
  • No two Pokémon of the same Pokédex number may be used on the same team
  • No two Pokémon may use the same held item on the same team
  • Pokémon on the same team cannot have the same nickname
  • Pokémon may not be nicknamed the same name as other Pokémon
  • The move Sky Drop cannot be used.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO HACKED POKEMON

I believe I covered all the rules. Any questions, comments or additions can be made on this thread. SIGN UPS ARE NOT ON THIS THREAD AND WILL MOST LIKELY BEGIN NEXT WEEK. Prizes are to be determined. Happy teambuilding everyone!

About time we had another tournament!

Anyway, hopefully I'll get past the first round in this one and not get paired up with someone who gets five rounds ahead of me. I'm doubting there will be enough people for 5 round though. :3 I take it Flat Doubles are the same as the actual VGC rules (All Pokémon lowered to lv 50 (Not raised), No events/ubers (Excluding Zorua/Zoroark)) and we'll be using DSes and Wi-Fi?

Yeah, everything should be the same as normal VGC rules, except for the time limit. There's no way to actually impose a time limit over Wi-fi.

I have a question. What if you don't have nearby Wi-fi?

Go somewhere that does.

I would like to enter when sign ups come, I doubt I will win but it does seems fun. I hope it is not the weekend I am at camp I will be so mad. Will it be a Saturday or Sunday, I prefer a Saturday since I can't do it on a Sunday.

I would love to join when sign ups are ready! Are these battles conducting on PO or on DS?

Ah, that's a good one. I knew I missed something. It's going to be on the DS, no Pokémon (DISALLOWED) battles. I'll amend the initial post to state that. Thanks for reminding me.

Well, if I had started Black and used "Aura" has my in-game name already, I'd be all over this, but given that I haven't, I suppose I'll just cheer from the sidelines this time a round. Should be an interesting Tourney, regardless.

Until the day of the tournament it is not like they need to know your team before the tournament. I suggest trying to make a team before hand so you are ready for the tournament.

No. Just like the VGCs you must use the same 6 Pokémon throughout the whole tournament (Using 4 Pokémon per battle, you can choose which 4 of the 6 to use each round).

I have an ev trained pokemon Lv. 74. Since it is reduced to lv 50, would it be the same stats as if it were a lv 100 pokemon being reduced to lv 50?

An EV trained Pokémon will have stats equivalent to what it would have had at level 50 with the same amount as your current EVs in respective stats.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but they usually take place the last weekend of the month. When I post the sign-ups, I should have a date and time set by then.
