Default Now Hiring

Seriously, we are. ...Sorta. Anyway, if you're interested in helping out VictoryBattles there are tons of jobs you can volunteer for. You're name shall be forever engraved in the credits and if its significant enough the copyright notification as a whole. That said...

Disclaimer
If you want to submit any work, you relinquish any and all rights to said work. We reserve the right to claim the work as our own or credit as we see fit. We also reserve all rights to modify or reverse engineer your work as we see fit, and license it under our own terms to any parties as we see fit.

Positions
Map Creator
The map creator essentially creates maps. This involves a custom and largely destroyed ROM (effectively Zel's Shinygold) which will be supplied to you and the map editor advance map (though you could use others). You must make any modifications to suit VictoryBattles, and at times will need to create entirely new maps. If you have any previous map-hacking experience it will definitely help. In general this is something that you should only do if you have a love for creative map hacking, since it is something I can do on my lonesome when needed.

If you are interested, mention it in the thread here and I will contact you when I need help.

Gen 5 Overworld Spriter
Essentially you must make west-facing overworld sprites of the generation five Pokémon for the walking animations. You will need to create the normal sprite and at a later date either you or someone else can recolour it into the shiny sprite. Needless to say, being an experienced spriter helps.

If you are interested, just send me the relevant sprites. Avoid doing the completed ones list below:

Browser Tester
Browser checkers will often check the unstable release in a slew of browsers, including:
  • Internet Explorer 8
  • Internet Explorer 9
  • Firefox 3.x
  • Firefox 4
  • Opera 10
  • Safari 5
  • Google Chrome
  • (if possible) DSi/iPhone/Android/PSP Browsers

All of the browsers, besides the last list, will need to be installed at all times. You will need to screenshot any problems and if you have past HTML+CSS experience this is particularly helpful.

If you are interested, mention it in the thread and I will contact you later when I need to know what's going on.

On the other hand, if not all of those are possible or you don't want to be on-call at all times, simply using Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Safari 5, or the mobile browsers and then reporting any bugs that pop up is a significant help. In truth, just as much so as screenshotting problems and the like.

Coordinate Pointer
Essentially, take a map and get pixel coordinates for doors, ladders, etc in the map. I recommend using gimp, and in general you should try to have then numbers multiples of 16x16.

If you are interested, mention it in the thread and I will contact you later when I need help.

Help Writer
If you are a good writer, you can help write any of the following sections:
  • The different sections of the PC.
  • Using the trade center.
    • Accepting a trade.
    • Making a new trade.
    • Searching for trades.
  • Using the overworld map.

You will need to be very descriptive and include images (as well as any other information you can). You can use pretty much any word processor you'd like (OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, Wordpad, etc.), just send it to me when you are done.

---

Any and all help is of-course appreciated and we would be happy to credit you where possible.

For anybody interesting in doing the overworld's, just send a few to me through whatever means and I'll sort through them. I'll generally try to get the best selection possible (so if one's better than another...), but RotomGuy has already submitted a couple great ones (linked in the first post).

For the rest I'll get back to you.

Only thing I could help with is browser testing. I'm actually using Firefox 4.0 beta 6, so that might provide some different insight...
I also have access to Firefox 3.6 and Safari
EDIT: I can also get google chrome in both the lower finalized version and the beta version.

I'd be more than willing to help with anything.

Yes - Musharna has it's own overworld sprite, because you find it at a certain time on a certain day in a certain place that's not in the grass or whatnot.

In fact, the Musharna sprite that you postes is the EXACT same shape as the in-game one, and the shading's also very similar - All you've done is changed some of the small details, look:

And I bet that's what you did with Munna, too.

Musharna was probably copied. Munna is very different from the orginal one.

How do you make the images because I could probably start soon.

Freeze is Jason still helping you?

Well, in all fairness I don't much care as long as they look good. That said, the best looking one does tend to be the one I use and Musharna does look a little off...

(Also note the Munna faces east, not west, like I need; could just mirror it but I'm still too lazy... xD)

Just popping in here to make a note, try not to use .bmp, the quality on it is horrendous compared to pretty much any other common format. Try .jpg/.jpeg or .png to have images at their highest quality.

What program are you using? MS Paint I assume?
When you save, say "Save As..." then under the bar where you put the text to name your image, you should see a drop down menu. Click it and choose another option(.png preferably) then click it. Then all you have to do it save it and you've got it in higher quality.

It doesn't really matter since they're lossless anyway; in the end I'll be converting every image into .png (as per my own VB specification), but for now the format doesn't matter as long as its lossless (no JPEG).

Still need help? I'd love to try making some maps.. The only kind of map-making experience I have is with region maps, but I'd like to give it a try and I think I'd be able to do okay with them.

I also tried the overworld Shanderaa line, if you like them I might be able to do some more..

For anyone wanting to do it for me:

I do need all of the attached images in the first post to be converted to PNG format with the appropriate parts of each image make transparent. I will then need each of those images separated into an individual sprite (32x32), or for individual Pokémon smaller than 32x32 to be placed center on a 32x32 transparent canvas. You can find all of the existing Pokémon here for more guidelines:

There is this site with a ton of overworld sprites (that is where Shiny probably got his.) I'm not if this is correct he say he no need for credit but don't claim it as your own. It don't shiny or evoultion form but there is legenrary if you're going to use these I can do shiny form. Link for it: http://www.spriters-resource.com/ds/...te/sheet/34109.

I have done 2 5th Gen Overworld Sprites.

Here they are,

#590-Tamagetake:

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/8...etakeshiny.png

#591-Morobareru:

Both were made by me. Hotblast64 said you get a Victini in VB if you help out, is that true?

It wasn't a bribe, just a thanks xD

(In truth I'm not going to say you /will/ get one for helping at this point, nor anything else - but I probably will none-the-less award everybody who has so far helped come the final VictoryBattles release come late spring/early summer)

TRDRS, i'm not hissing your work, but their a bit big. There much better than mine, but Snivy is smaller than Iwaperasu, yet the overworld is bigger. Something to keep in mind for future sprites.

Grass, Kurumayu is brilliant, but Kurumiru looks like he's seen a ghost

@TRDRS, As I've done with previous sprites, would you like me to put yours in transparent 32x32 boxes? Same goes for anyone else who posts overworld sprites.

@HotBlast - What exactly you did to alter the colors I have no idea (Did you just change the hue or something?), but you managed to get most of them wrong. :I

Sure Nin!

Here are a bunch of Overworlds,

#638-Cobalon, #639-Terakion, #640-Virizion, #648- Meloetta, #647-Kerudio, #000-Victini, #504-Minezumi, #548-Churine, #572-Minccino, #552-Waruvile, #570-Zorua, #585-Shikijika:

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/122/oveworldlist.png

*None are made by me, I take no credit for anything except recoloring them*

Someone will need to separate these in 32x32 frames. I didnt do it because I am lazy and it would take a long time to upload all 24 pictures.

@Rotom - I get the feeling that those are a little too small... Try making yours slightly bigger, you've got plenty more room.

...And here's every Pokémon posted since the last bath that I posted in 32x32 transparent boxes.

I dont think it is "huge" but a litle big. Compare it to the size of a Overworld Trainer Sprite. Thank You!

EDIT: I've fixed Kurumiru. Who knew that two pixels could make a difference? XD

Hopefully it looks a little better now.

I'm going to try my luck at Tamagetake and Morobareru now, since those two are rather easy. I'll get to them whenever I can, and if all goes well, I'll be done by tonight. Also, I won't be doing any updates until I get back from my Chinese New Year Performance practice at aroun 5:20.

@RotomGuy - Much better! ...But it looks more like Archeos than Aaken.

@TRDRS - As great as Ononokusu looks, I'm afraid that it's actually too big - All the sprites have to be 32x32 (There are legendaries with bigger ones than that, but they don't work - JAD had a Groudon but the image didn't work since it was a 64x64 image).

@GPFTW - Nice, I'll put them in 32x32 transparent boxes right away!

Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint

That's what pretty much everyone uses to sprite, and it comes with every single Windows computer.

Ummm, Hotblast. No offense, but I think you should leave the Shiny sprites to other people, So they come out with the actual Shiny Pokemon's colors.

Keep in mind that Pokémon who should be large in the original set, like say Groudon, should be large in the new one as well.

Correct. But only for really large ones

(...Tyranitar, for instance, is still comparatively small)

Edit: Of course, these aren't properly rendered yet, but they will be in the future.
