Yes, there is. Buy a better plan. There's no real way for you to raise your download speed, that's all controlled by the provider.

Oh, that does it. I am unsubscribing from SBC Yahoo! DSL service. This was before the AT&T merger mind you, but I thought after that they'd do something better... I want whatever the hell Yoshi has for his internet setup. Last edited by LiteTheIronMan; August 9, 2010 at 01:49:14 PM. |

Right now, I'm using Sky internet; an internet provider you should never EVER sign up for.
They slow down the internet deliberately between 5:15 PM and 11:15 PM. I can't even watch youtube videos during that time. We're breaking free of that provider in a few days because they're doing it deliberately and even TOLD us that they had a right to do it, despite the fact that we pay premium. |

Not that much actually. That company provides for everything in my country, from cell phone plans to cable. Since wre such a small country, it only has like 2 rivals. And they try to direct all the customers to their company, by offering large discounts for each service subscribed. My family has starhub cable, starhub internet, starhub telephone, starhub everything :O the more we get, the bigger the value. Monthly, it costs about 60ish Singapore dollars that's about US-$50 or UK Ł30

50 mbps speeds here cost just under Ł30... Our company offers 10 mbps, 20 mbps and 50 mbps, of which we have the first one. Still, it's more than enough to do what I want! Apart from when I'm uploading a Youtube video or something...

I tested at my school today, while there was heavy strain on the server (First five minutes of the first lesson) and I managed to get a download speed peaking at 32 MB/S and an upload of around 15 MB/S. Unfortunately my teacher made me close it before I could get a link or anything, so I don't know our ISP.

Your download speed is pretty good, however you upload (compared to your download) is ehh, however just looking at your upload is not all that bad at all.
What I mean is that there is such a vast difference in your Download vs Upload. Both are faster than mine. Last edited by Buoysel; October 26, 2010 at 08:33:00 PM. |

Edit as of Jan 5th New router, flashed DD-WRT firmware, USB WiFi adapter and homemade directional antenna. Made out of tinfoil, a cooler vent, duct tape and legos. Pictures here
Spoiler Alert:
BTW my down/up speeds via WIRE are 20/20. Last edited by Searinox; January 5, 2011 at 11:41:35 AM. |

You do not know slow. Maybe it's my distance? All I want is a download speed upped by at least 100 kbps. Preferably up to 450kbps. There are upgrades however, so I might try it if I can convince mom. Last edited by DashArmy; March 20, 2011 at 01:40:56 PM. |

I've been having internet troubles:
We're supposed to be getting 20Mb/S broadband. A test from a few days ago shows that we're getting 1/100 of that. Upload is better than usual though: A test a few hours later shows a slight improvement in download speed, but there was no hope left for our upload or ping: And then, after almost two days of no internet and minutes of being on hold to Virgin Media, we get a result! |

Our modem was slowly dieing. Then it died. Virgin replaced it with a "Superhub" (A modem and 802.11/n router in one). Of course, with a name that pretentious I kinda expected it to be a piece of crap. Well, at least it works.
=I Is that home internet? We could go up to 50Mb/S if we had the money. |

My Internet provider? Telekom Malaysia. I'm stuck with them on a 2M connection that may or may not be slower than usual at times. Also not exactly the most reliable provider in my country. But, hey, phone service is a must, no?
Yeah, it's that bad. Barely over half the speed promised. Last edited by Twiggy; October 16, 2011 at 02:30:21 AM. |
