Default Disciplining pets with violence.

Should you do it? I personally think to do it only in really extreme-ish situations.

Well, I sometimes bop my dogs on the head, not enough to hurt, just to say "Hey, don't do that".

Well if the're doing something they shouldn't, don't hit them so hard as to hurt them. I tap my cat on the head if he does something bad, like Idno. But hurting them is pointless and cruel.

Well if your dog is licking/biting things it shouldn't, then a bop on the nose is acceptable, but anything more won't do anything but make them afraid of you.

I don't think you should be able to hit them but a like touch is acceptable

I always play with my dog and kind of do the same thing you guys do (push him aside, taunt him which is really fun to do) but never hit them. I lurb my pets.

Disciplining your pet's will just bring your pet's to a rampage which will eventually effect you.

So I should just let my pet do whatever they want without consequence?

Sounds like a pretty solid idea to me.

We don't discipline criminals with violence, not in America at least.

So no. If I can't kick a dude in the balls if he tries to pickpocket me, then you shouldn't be able to kick a cat.

Plus, kitties are adorable. Jus' spray them with water and they'll learn. :3

That is definitely not true. My cat loves water. So what? I spray water on it when it does something bad? He would like that too much.

I think it's okay to smack 'em on the head when they do something. Don't beat them, just smack them like a parent would a young kid. It's not going to hurt them, just shock them a bit.

((And I would kick a dude in the balls if he tried to pickpocket me, you're a better man than I.)) But don't kick the cat/dog whatever.

Define violence. I discipline my pets, but what is considered violence?

I believe that (much like kids) you should be able to "hit" pets, but not hard enough to hurt them. Just enough to know that there will be consequences to their actions. I, under NO circumstances, believe that you should be able to inflict any real harm on them. Just enough that they know.
