Default What is the difference between...

An Assist. Mod. and a Mod?
And what's the difference between an Admin and an Assist. Admin?

It seems to be that they have the exact same abilities on the forums.

Can someone explain what the difference is?

A moderator has the ability to edit a number of things that an assistant mod doesn't, like picture comments and member signatures.

Administrators have full power while assistant administrators only have the powers I choose to give them.

How do people get ranked into a new position such as Assist. Admin?

You basically have to be reaaaaallllly good. Knowledge of HTML/PHP/something similar doesn't hurt, either. Plus, VBulletin experience in the Admin panel is always a plus.

I'm speaking for Cat, though, and I don't know what exactly he looks for. I'm just saying what I personally would look for.

Stepping from assistant moderator to full moderator is actually not very difficult. Simply show that you know how to handle troublemakers, perform moderator duties (Yes, I monitor the log.), and be active.

However, becoming an admin of any kind is significantly more difficult. Being an admin means that you make changes to the site or forum. Yoshi648 had been staff from early on and was my first member; he was very active and a good friend. KingOfKYA monitors the server and fixes when stuff breaks. Floatzel is another good friend of mine who helps with forum admin stuff. FreezeWarp is the owner of Crystal Islands and is very knowledgeable in PHP; I may promote him to a full admin soon. James had been admin of PokéStation (and formerly Pokémon Legends) and did good work around there; he also writes decent articles.

I see. I remember being on PKMN Legends with James . Anyways, I will try to get some articles going and see if I can make use with the HTML knowledge I have.

That's the unwritten forbidden question on nearly every forum. But I'll answer it quickly: be active, don't badger staff, help out, offer suggestions, be friends, and show leadership skills.

It ok, I think everybody that wants to be a mod or have some sort of power in a forum wants to ask that question.
