Default [WIP]Jaredvcxz's Minecraft Texture Pack [1.5_01]

I decided to practice my terrible GIMP skills and make a texture pack to Minecraft.

The goal here is to simplify the graphics and improve some texture patterns I didn't like (Like cobblestone being ugly)

So far what I've altered is
DAY ONE
  • Cobblestone (Just recolored brick)
  • Wooden door
  • Sign
  • Chests
  • Obsidian (Current pure black tuxture sucks. Changing again soon)
  • Sun and moon (Sun change is hard to see with the blue sky)
  • Stone
DAY TWO
  • Workbench
  • Metal Door
  • Logs
  • Wood planks
  • Jukebox
  • Brick
  • Bed

Day Three[list][*]Redstone torch 0/1[*]Torch[*]Those redstone box things with the slot thing that I don't know what they are[*]lever[*]Bookshelf

Things I probably won't change
  • Non-block items (dyes, food)
  • Wool
  • Plants (Except base log)
  • GUI
  • Art (Unless you want to be assailed by furriness)

To install, open minecraft>Mods and Texture Packs>Texture pack folder and drop the ZIP file in there. Do not extract.

Oh, awesome dude.

How exactly do you make a texture pack? >_>

But I'll download it when you finish, for sure.

Oh wow, from the looks of the preview you made very minimalistic changes/simplifications and yet it still comes out looking better then the normal textures. Nice work

I quite like the look of this, it's a very clean and simple pack.

To make a texture pack is pretty simple. Go to the bin folder in .minecraft, and extract minecraft.jar with 7-zip or something. That'll get you all the Minecraft files (Including a load of .class files which you don't need for a texture pack and can delete). The main focus is terrain.png, which is the file that contains all the textures for blocks. Edit that and whack it into a .zip (Make sure it's in the root of the .zip) and put that in your texture pack folder. Items and stuff like that are in the gui folder in minecraft.jar.

I got a few more things done. The furnace seems to have too much of a contrast to me though. I'll see what you guys think. Maybe I should make the dark texture more like cobblestone.

Thanks, Nin. I think I'll give it a go.

The Cobblestone looks fantastic, Jared, but you're right I hate the default looks of Cobblestone (thus the reason why I don't like it very much)

I like it! It looks great! I agree that maybe you should make the darker portion of the furnace a bit more like cobblestone though? C:

Could you upload the files and give them to me? I'd be able to figure it out that way better than anything.

I see the problem already. Your root is SuperKow's Texture Pack. You need to have all the files right in the base of the zip for it to work.

The only reason why my computer decided to boot into linux was because the MBR on my windows hard drive is corrupted
