Nintendo eShop unavailable
It appears like the eShop for 3DS and Wii U, as well as the Shopping Channel on the Wii and the DSi Shop on the DSi, are all currently unavailable due to massive overload.
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/net...ork_status.jsp I'm pretty much putting the blame on Pokémon Bank having been released in Japan last night. It practically crashed the servers, and that was well before most folks received any new 3DS or Wii U consoles. Anyone wishing to perform a system transfer or play online in Pokémon cannot due so, as both of those require the eShop. Also, anyone who received a Zelda 3DS XL will be unable to download the bundled game. I'm honestly expecting this to remain pretty unusable for the remainder of the year, unless they're preparing their burst server farm for times with unprecedented load. The Bank will be releasing in a little over a day outside of Asia, and from what I've heard, the Bank itself is pretty unusable due to its own load issues. I figured something like this might happen. I mean, after all, the release of Pokemon Bank has been incredibly anticipated and everyone wants to get their old Pokemon in before it's too late, and, well, it's kind of like the Pokemon Global Link situation all over again. People were so set on getting to the Dream World that the servers overloaded and not much could get done until Nintendo intervened and fixed the issues. I imagine that this situation will probably pass the same way and so the Pokemon Bank won't be usable for some time. Sucks too, I was ready to transfer a lot of my Pokemon over. And I really want that Celebi too. :/

Gee, maybe Pokemon Bank shouldn't have been released AT THE SAME TIME EVERYONE GOT THEIR 3DS AND WII U FOR CHRISTMAS. I mean honestly, who thought that could possibly be a good idea? Game Freak had experience with the Dream World, and now anyone trying to buy anything during the holidays is going to be annoyed. Most young adults/teens/kids are on vacation now, so naturally they are going to want to download new games/Pokemon Bank right as they become available.
Plus, some of us have Gym teams to build and Earthbounds to buy for their new Wii U. :< Oh, and I am going to put this in red because it is important. BE CAREFUL WHEN TRYING TO ADD FUNDS TO YOUR ESHOP ACCOUNTS! THE SERVERS ARE PACKED AND YOUR REQUESTS MAY APPEAR TO NOT GO THROUGH, BUT IN SOME CASES THEY ACTUALLY WILL. THIS CAN RESULT IN INADVERTENTLY ADDING TOO MANY FUNDS TO YOUR CONSOLES. I have heard this online and thought I should share. Last edited by Alakazamaster; December 25, 2013 at 10:34:08 PM. |

Looks like Pokemon Bank was pulled from the Japanese eShop, and the American and Europe versions now have a release date of TBD (To Be Decided). Looks like it will be delayed, but don't fret because the 30 day trial (for you cheap people) will be reset when the games are good to go again.

Gonna add on a little bit. I mentioned it in my first post, but it looks like quite a few people received the Zelda 3DS XL with no additional games, as it was intended for them to simply use the included download copy of A Link Between Worlds as their first game. It's probably quite a disappointment for those folks who won't even be able to play any 3DS games on their new systems. (Then again, I didn't get any 3DS games for about a month after buying my system.)
It seems the eShop works about one time out of twenty (every other time either spitting out an error immediately or after logging in with your NNID), and it feels incredibly unstable while doing so. As mentioned above, avoid adding gift cards, and be careful when purchasing games or applying download codes to your account. Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; December 26, 2013 at 10:18:19 AM. |

I knew the Nintendo Network was fragile, but my lord it must be weaker than tissue paper. It's a good thing I did all my online shopping earlier, I don't like it anyway. As long as this doesn't mess with my physical purchase of ALBW, then I'm good.

It was really stupid of them to release on Christmas in the first place.
I was lucky enough to get a Totodile on Wonder Trade, I've been breeding it with Dragon Dance and sending it out on Wonder Trade. I also got a Chimchar with Iron Fist that's probably hacked because it has a hidden ability. Last edited by Magmaster12; December 26, 2013 at 07:09:20 PM. |

Yeah, two million people who play Pokémon, all trying to download and use the thing on the first day of its release. What did they think could possibly go wrong? Basically what everyone else said.
Yeah, most Hidden Ability starters that I've seen look more hacked than legit :x Wish they would have made them more accessible. Not everybody shops at Wal-Mart, and it's not even like they're likely to drive pre-order sales like they do with GameStop events. Last edited by Dragonite; December 26, 2013 at 08:47:43 PM. |

Thankfully I rarely rely on downloads for my games(I wasn't planning on using the Bank tbh). Physical copies FTW! I do feel for you all, though, since this reminds me of the horrors of having a PSP Go as being the only way of reaching the first few entries in the Final Fantasy series. Just remember it'll pass and it's not the end of the world. Crashes happen all the time during the holidays.

So my initial rage in regards to the postponing of Pokebank has been (temporarily) quelled, because I suddenly realized that I have Pokemon from Emerald, Fire Red, Sapphire, Rubien, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver to get on a Gen. 5 cartridge. This is going to eat up a lot of time, though it will certainly be nice sending all of my desired Pokemon at once. Still peeved about having to re-download Pokemon X and download Earthbound for the first time during certain hours, though. :I

Good news: it appears like all four Nintendo services are now fully functional. Anyone waiting to perform a transfer to a new 3DS system, redeem funds on eShop/Wii Shopping Channel, purchase apps, or set up a Nintendo Network ID can do so now.
The Bank, unfortunately, is still being delayed until activity settles down. Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; December 30, 2013 at 12:45:12 AM. |

I'll be counting down the minutes with the world's slowest hourglass.
This delay has set my Pokémon training plans back an entire month. I can't assemble and test my grass team without it so I haven't even been playing Y in a long time... |
