Default Mario Timeline

All those theories about the Zelda Timeline are getting crazy! Why doesn't anybody think about the Mario Timeline?

SMG-SMG2

If it is supposed to be the direct sequel, then why is Yoshi in it? Wasn't Yoshi extinct?!

Mario never followed a timeline, that's why. They're just new games, with no timeline at all.

The Legend of Zelda series, however, is meant to have a timeline linking all the games together. The only problem is that the game programmers got into a mess.

Satoru Iwata said himself that there is no Zelda Timeline. I guess it makes as much sense to have no Mario Timeline.

Well, all the Mario games are sequels to the other, but there's no direct link between each one. Zelda on the other hand has quite a few intricate timelines that I'm sure I could explain in a more appropriate topic.

There should be a Zelda Forum.

And was I wrong when I said Yoshis are extinct in some games?

They aren't extinct they just don't appear. It's a big difference.

In Story, they were almost wiped out, but the survivors (who were newly hatched and apparently didn't know pain) managed to fight back against Baby Bowser. Presumably they procreated back up to their original numbers.
