Basic Pokémon -> Stage 1 Pokémon -> Stage 2 Pokémon is all we've seen, but there's never been a Stage 3 Pokémon and frankly, I don't see any need for one.

Well, it depends on how narrow you are going to be with your Pokemon games. I'm pretty sure "Hey you! Pikachu!" doesn't have a professor.

Although, there is almost always a professor in Pokemon games. Even "Pokemon Channel" had professor Oak!
