Remember the computer I told you guys about? How my dad was putting it together?
Yeah, he took it apart again. The cover is off, so I can see its guts. Obviously it won't be done for a while, but he found the problem. The drivers he's using are incompatible with 7. He's using XP drivers and serial ports. So, I'll be using my dad's other computers when able, but when I'm at home, I'll be on that other piece of crap. As I'm typing this post, I'm on Dad's 7 Ultimate right now. I don't know the exact specs... *checks* ...Uh...I can't find it...All I know is that it has 8 GB of RAM, an Intel Core2 CPU, and an I don't need to use this vocabulary-load of hard drive space. |

After tomorrow, I will have an English Debate with the title of "Should Violent Video Games be banned?"
I am with banning them although I didn't choose to. Oh! This is the first time I am in a debate and believe me, it is harder than what you think. |

That's why the ESRB and the likes exist: to direct people to games appropriate for their age. Needles to say, I'm in the same debate that Spirit is in, but I am against banning video games. This debate is seriously stressing me out, by the way. |

I'd slightly agree with you there - I don't care for violent games. However, I don't really feel that "banning" anything is morally right, nor in this country (the US of A) constitutional. I will say, though, that sexual content is much more appropriate for most audiences than violence is - although the ESRB seems to think the reverse. Either way, its up to the parents to decide.

That would work exceedingly well as long as strict rules that forbid flame wars, disrespectfulness and rudeness are placed. Debaters should also act mature, accept opposing views and reply sensibly.

And, I believe that sexual content is more appropriate because its more natural - in ancient Greece, they would sculpt both male and female naked bodies. Violence only leads to pain and suffering. That's just my view, though. Traditionally, it is more the other way around. |

True. That's my case.
Agreed. The debate today was awesome! First, our side won - the side which was against banning violent video games. Second, I was elected as the best debater in the whole school (grade 5~11) of the current school year, although I never expected that! Every one was there: headmaster, the 2 heads of our building, and the judges from the other branches! The headmaster of the school confessed that this was the best debate made in 4 years, and that he was really proud of the effort we put into it. The whole experience gave me 5 advantages: a) Developed my debating abilities b) Made me miss some [boring] classes c) No English Language homework til the rest of the week d) 5 bonus marks in English Literature to all participants of the debate in my class e) Valuable, funny and good friends of older age I am really very happy that things went that great today. Off-topic: Hm... NFC champion Saints win. And if the Vikings won in the championship game, they'd have their first SuperBowl win! *cries* Last edited by FreezeWarp; February 8, 2010 at 02:27:19 PM. Reason: Clarification, then forgotten congratulations |

Lol, I was going for the Vikings from the beginning.
But really, I blame the Bengals for losing to the Jets in the final game of the regular season... Had they won, the Texans would have been in the playoffs. And being the best debater out of 500 is surely something to be proud of. |

Yeah... I lost in the debate, but what do you expect other than that?! People in our country LOVE video games and would never ban them. However, the headmaster said that we all did a great job and that the debate we all made was the best since 4 years!
Well, for sure, this is the first time for me and it is still successful! Yay! |

The best debater was chosen according to the strength of argument, posture while giving the speech, eye contact with audience/judges, speaking within the time limit, and the ability to say the speech without using things like cue-cards. Quote:
I'd estimate it to be about 500~600 students in general. |

I really hope for a Snow Day tommarow that way academics will be expanded and I won't have to finish my project until Tuesday even though it'll be weird to show up to school on Thursday since I also have Friday off.
Does anyone here still get Febuary vacation? |

Tomorrow is the Sports Day.
If it wasn't for the pressure put on me for winning the 100m sprint, I would've greatly looked forward to it. But I still like this day; athletics, free juice, Subway meals, no studying tomorrow - all that makes up for it. |

The Subway isn't for free. The juice is.
Anyways, I got second position in the 100m sprint among all the grade 9 students in the Sports Day. Not to mention the day itself was exceedingly fun, amusing and exciting. Last edited by Shadow; February 11, 2010 at 07:41:15 AM. |

Probably where you have to wear a specific color/colors. I usually wear nothing (different), though learned a while ago /not/ to wear the opposing city's school colors.

Same here. We currently don't have a holiday.
However, to prove how lucky I am, we have a term break coming up on March 17th, and it lasts for about 10 days. As we all know, Pokémon HG/SS come out on March 14th, so that gives me plenty of time to enjoy the games to the fullest |

Yeah, I guess you can call it a spring break, although it's not an official holiday over here. In fact, I think our school is the only one having this break among the other schools in the city I live in.

Ahh yes, Spring break... It's March 13-21 for me. So I'll be getting HG on that Sunday and I'll play it all week, yay! Hopefully we don't go on vacation. >.> Unless we go to my grandparents' place, then I'll actually have even more time to play HG, hehe.

Well I admitt that I pretty much had to be a suck up in middle school because 10% of my grade was "participation" which is basicaly how much of a suck up you are, in the seventh grade I took a spanish class and did no work and I still managed to pass the grade with a 64.
There was even one teacher who was leaving I decided to shake her hand and she ended up hugging me I wonder if could sew her. I'm probably still kind of a suck up because all the teachers at my school really like me. |

All teachers exceedingly like me in school, although that doesn't mean I like them all.
Also, today, one of the teachers said this in class (after I have pointed out something really important regarding our lesson): Teacher: "You know guys, Shadow and the rest of the class is like Burj Khalifa and the short buildings around it." Honestly, that made my day |
