Seven new Pokémon in CoroCoro
Leaks from CoroCoro reveal two new Pokémon: a mouse named チラーミィ Chiramii (or Chiraamii) and an unseen Pokémon named ムンナ Munna. An additional scan shows a bird Pokémon without a name.
Update: Another Pokémon, ギアル Giaru (Gear) was revealed. The bird is named マメパト Mamepato. Update 2: Three more - シママ Shimama, ヒヒダルマ Hihidaruma, and メグロコ Megaroko. Update 3: Higher quality magazine scans here! Update 4: It is confirmed that the other type of Reshiram is Fire, while Zekrom is Dragon/Electric.
Update 4: Due to questionable pop-up ads in the imagevenue slideshow, the slideshow of image will be posted under here
The Pokémon Black and White page will continue being updated. Chiramii Chiramii Mamebato Mamepato Munna Giaru (Gear) Shimama Hihidaruma Meguroko Dr. Araragi New Pokédex Also, an image of the Reshiram battle, showing the official sprite, has been revealed Source: Serebii Last edited by The Spirit of Time; June 12, 2010 at 03:13:36 AM. Reason: It isn't necessary to make a thread just for the types of the two legendary mascots. |

I only have two complaints: The pigeon and the disgruntled fire... thing. The normal/flying type combo has always bothered me (even back in red and blue). Why not just make it a flying type, plain and simple? And as for that... THING... I'll probably get used to it. Didn't we just get a fire-type primate last generation? I wanna see a fire-type hamster!
I don't have too much to say about the others, except for the chinchilla. It's cute! Female Professor? It's about time one showed up. |

-dies happy- Mamepato looks like a pidgeon! So cute! XD
Is Shimama a zebra? o3o >_> Mine are better. Giaru = Magnemite + Bronzor I can't believe I made something that looked like Hihidaruma... I stopped on him because it looked so stupid. I guess I was proven wrong. What the hell is Munna? Some kind of floral piggy bank? |

All I wanna say is-
Chiramii
Mamebato This pidgeon's gonna turn out to become a kick-butt Pokemon when he evolves, much like Pidgey and Starly did. Munna Munna gives me a feeling that this is a Drowzee pre-evo.It is Dream Eater Pokemon and it is also a Tapir. Giaru (Gear) It's evo will be 3 gears Shimama Girafarig's cousin.I demands its name to be Zebrarbez! Hihidaruma Awesome!!!! Meguroko It is definitely in my team! Dr. Araragi Coooooooooooooooooool New Pokédex If you look closely,it says that Chiramii's number is 75/76. Reshiram vs. Tsutaja WIN!!! Here are some possible origins to each newly-revealed Pokemon`s name:
xD First I`ll go with Hihidaruma`s, this one is painfully obvious. "Hihi" means "Baboon", which is clearly used. And "Daruma" and be used with words such as "Yuki" to make "Snowman" (Yukidaruma), and "Daruma" on it`s own is a type of red, paper-mache doll in form of a seated Buddhist monk, which is supposed to give good luck. While "Hihi" is clearly from "Baboon", the rest is somewhat arbitrary. Meguroko is a bit tricky, but it could be from the Japanese pronunciation of Crocodile, which is "kurokodairu". Megu could come from "chinomegurigawarui", dim-witted, or slow to catch on, but that`s a bit of a long shot. "Giaru"`s name is just the Japanese pronunciation of "Gear" for obvious reasons. "Shimama"`s name is a corruption on the Japanese word for "Zebra", which is "shimauma". "Shimauma" is made up of two seperate words of it`s own, as well. "Shima" means "stripe", and "uma" means "horse. So basically "Shimama" is just the word for zebra with the "u" cut out. "Mamepato" could partly come from "Hato" which is Japanese for "Pidgeon". The "mame" portion, given that it has a "p" which replaces the "h" in hato, means it isn`t an entire word, being only "mamep", so I`m not quite sure what it refers to. "Chiramii" probably has the "chira" portion coming from the Japanese pronunciation for "Chinchilla", which is "Chinchirra" The "mii" could be from a lot of different words. Honestly, at the moment I have absolutely no idea where they got Mun`na`s name. Anyway, hope this somewhat irrelevant information ends up being useful somehow xD |

Dream Eater Pokemon is so cute
Gear weirds me out. D: Mamepato is pretty much the Pidgey of this generation, but he's pretty cute. HiHidaruma is a pokemon I will definatley add to my team, seeing as the weren't much fire pokemon in 4th gen, and he looks pretty cool after all. Shinamama is a electric horsey thing. Meh, I'll skip it. Don't really like the design. Megaroku is a definite awesome crocdile. He does remind me of Hippotas though. |

Mamepato is probably my favorite of the Birds at the start of the game, and Meguroko looks really cool. Hihidaruma is... weird. He creeps me out. I do not care for him at all, honestly. Giaru is kinda cool, but I hope that his evolution is a bit more creative that two gears glued together. Shimama is also really nice looking, one of the cuter of the bunch. It is so cool seeing all of these Pokemon getting revealed! Last edited by Alakazamaster; June 11, 2010 at 11:47:31 AM. |

Ah, okay... I like the majority of these new Pokemon. New mouse Pokemon, eh? Too bad none will top Pikachu. It looks plain, but it doesn't look terrible. My favorite would have to be Shimama though. It just looks... awesome.
As for the gears, I've been waiting for this to happen. Figured they'd do this earlier when Magnets were Pokemon in the very first season. Hihidaruma, makes me think of Looney Tunes and the Tasmanian Devil for obvious reasons. As for a female Professor, I have been waiting for there to be an in-game professor for a while. Figured they would do this when I heard of Professor Ivy in Kanto. Even though she wasn't a Starter Type Giving Professor, ;P Can't wait to see what else awaits us. |

Wow, I like these pokemon! I just got an idea though. That Munna pokemon, the weird pig thing brings up a theory. If it's a dream eater pokemon, and it looks pink and fluffy with flowers, it resembles a pillow doesn't it?

For the most part, they're just okay, but I have more specific feelings towards three of them.
Hihidaruma- What is this? I suppose it's a monkey or something, but boy, is it ugly. The eyebrows are ridiculous. Shimama- Very cute. c: Zebras (?) are awesome. Munna- And I thought Hihidaruma was ridiculous! What is this, a piggy bank Pokemon? Although, Darkrai above me said that it looks like a pillow, and I see what he means. New pokedexes are iPods? I guess it fits, but aren't they usually based on the generation's portable? Speaking of which, when does the DS 2 come out? Will this be for the DS or the unnamed new system? Last edited by Sableyed; June 11, 2010 at 06:59:37 PM. |

Oh, a good-looking, girl professor? That's just downright amazing!
Anyways, let me start with adding a comment on every newly-revealed Pokémon: -Chirami: It looks kinda cute and has a good, second ability (Technician), but I doubt its usage in competitive play. It also reminds me with Pichu. Nothing too special though. -Munna: I honestly don't know what to say about it. It looks peculiar and unusual to me, and so I don't like it at all. -Gear: The name is unoriginal, and it looks like it's going to be similar to Magnemite (adding on more gears when it evolves?). However, I think that the usage of the "Plus" and "Minus" abilities is a very good idea because we only have one Pokémon with each ability (Plusle, Minun). I hope it has good stats, and that it doesn't have a crappy evolution because it looks like an awesome Pokémon. -Mamepato: I don't really hate the Pokémon itself as much as I hate the animal it's based upon; we're getting tired of all those bird Pokémon with Normal/Flying typing available at the beginning of each game. However, the abilities seem promising and the design is very cool, so I think its evolutions are going to be cool. -Hihidaruma: I'm kinda neutral on this Pokémon, but more leaning towards a negative opinion on it. It looks kinda ugly and strange to me, and the fire brows look a bit like the ones Blaziken had, except being bigger. Also, the whole 'fire ape' concept is starting to become redundant, especially with the existence of (apparently) better Pokémon such as Infernape. -Shimama: I guess Girafarig finally gets something that looks like a 'counterpart' to it. Although it's an Electric Zebra Pokémon (thumbs up for originality ), it looks a lot like a giraffe. Also, the abilities are really awesome, especially Motor Drive. I'm not very sure now whether it'll get an evolution or not, but I really like it nonetheless. -Meguroko: This Pokémon hints at the Beagle Boys, and has a similar colour scheme to that of Hippowdon. Nevertheless, I really like its design and its unique typing (ignoring the several weaknesses), and I hope its evolutions are even cooler. So, in conclusion, here's a list of the Pokémon I like in descending order: Meguroko and Shimama (tie) Gear Mamepato Chirami Hihidaruma Munna Now, let's move on to Reshiram and Zekrom: -Reshiram: Awesome in many ways for me. The type is unique indeed, and sports 5 good resistances to common types, which are Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass and Electric (two of which give it x0.25 damage). It's good to know that it's not weak to Ice, and that it is only weak to Ground, Dragon and Rock (for the time being). I think I like it more than Zekrom by a very tiny bit because it looks more amazing. -Zekrom: Oh, another awesome and special typing. Boasting resistances to 6 types, which are Flying, Steel, Grass, Water, Electric and Fire (one of which gives it x0.25 damage), this thing is sure to be beastly. Although it shares a weakness to Ground and Dragon (for now) like Reshiram, the main difference is that it is weak to Ice, not Rock. Zekrom also possesses a very cool look, and so I still like it a lot. I'm very glad to see that both of them have no x4 weakness, and that they are very unique both design-wise and type-wise. Even the abilities sound useful. Those legendaries are easily going to be one of my favourites. Quote:
With 5 weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ice, Fight and Bug, I doubt it. We'll get a better judgement when its evolutions are revealed. Last edited by Shadow; June 13, 2010 at 10:18:56 AM. |
