NEW BARK TOWN

Tips

-"You've got Mail"
Right after you awake, go and check your PC and you will find that Lyra/Ethan has sent you an email. She will brag about how she loves her pokemon so much, when she knows that you don't have one.

-Genders
If you chose to be a guy on your journey than the supporting role is a girl, named Lyra. If you chose to be a lady on your journey than the supporting role is a guy, named Ethan.

-Who is Elm?
Professor Elm is the credited man for finding Pichu, Pikachu's pre-evolution. He is know worldwide as an eminent authority on Pokemon Evolution.

-You are being followed.
In HG/SS, the pokemon at the head of your party follows you around everywhere. It could be from a tiny Pichu to a HUGE Lugia! Remember that you can see how it is feeling be turning towards it and selecting it with A.

Obtainable pokemon
with headbutt-
-Exeggcute
-Hoothoot
-Ledyba (SS)
-Pineco
-Spinarak (HG)

while fishing with Old Rod-
-Magikarp
-Tentacool

While fishing with Good Rod-
-Chichou
-Magikarp
-Tentacool
-Shellder

With Surf-
-Tentacool
-Tentacruel

Obtainable Items
Pokegear
Potion x5
(After Togepi Hatches)
Everstone
(After Dragon's Den)
Master Ball

Step 1) Go talk to your momma.
You wake up, you don't know what you did last night, but it some crazy teen thing. You need to go downstairs and talk to your mom and see if she knows what happened, hopefully she doesn't. While you are down there, instead of giving you a lecture, she give you a Bag, Trainer Card, and access to needed buttons. Before she can talk more you leave the house.

Step 2) Go to Lyra/Ethan's house.
This is who you partied with last night. She will be on the top floor of the building below your house and the lab. When you are there talk to her and she will tell you to get a Pokemon. Because her parents are rich and can afford really nice things. They are hated by their neighbors. Lyra feels she is better than everyone so she will want you to become a trainer like her so she can mentor you. Off to Elm's.

Step 3) My first Pokemon!
The lab is the biggest building in New Bark Town. When you get to Professor Elm's Pokemon Lab, Elm explains the benefits of letting a pokemon out of its pokeball and walking around with you. JUST LIKE IN POKEMON YELL!!! After pressing B while he talks you can go to the red and white machine to the right and pick yourself a beautiful pokemon. I always get a Chikorita!

Chikorita - Lv.5 - Grass Type
Cyndaquil - Lv.5 - Fire Type
Totodile - Lv.5 - Water Type

Step 4) In return for the pokemon... GO ON A JOURNEY! >:D
After talking to him and getting your very first pokemon, Elm gets an email. It is from his good friend Mr. Pokemon and Mr. Pokemon had found something amazing. But he can't tell Elm in email what it is so you, for some reason, must go check.

Step 5) My mom give me a phone.
WAIT! Before you slave yourself to Mr.Pokemon's house, go and get a cellular phone! This thing, called a Pokegear, is SUPER annoying when you get it because:
a- people will give you their # ALL THE TIME.
b- your mom will call you ALL THE TIME.
c- it doesn't get Temple Run.

Basically, you just have to talk to your mom and she hands it over to you. You throw a fit because it isn't an iPhone, but she ignores you instead. After she gets tired of you wining, she kicks you out of the house...

Now we go to Route 29!

OTHER THINGS THAT GO ON HERE
After seeing Mr. Pokemon-
-Professor Elm's pokemon have been stolen.
-Elm want to see the egg you have found. (this gives you a Pokedex)
-Your mom will manage your money.
-You can go northwest to Violet City.

After egg hatches-
-Show Elm the Togepi and you get the Everstone.

After you visit the Dragon's Den-
-Elm gives you a Master Ball.

After you have gotten Ho-oh/Lugia-
-You may enter the Indigo Plateau from here. (East)

ROUTE 29

Tips

-Sorry, no Apricorns for you.
You will see a Grn Apricorn Tree while venturing Route 29, yet you can't pick it up. You can come back once you've gotten the Apricorn Box from the homeless guy living on Route 30.

-Your Special Tuesday Item.
After beating the Violet Gym, you can get a twisted spoon from Tuscany. He is a Day-of-the-Week sibling and he will give it to you on a Tuesday.

Obtainable pokemon
With headbutt-
-Exeggcute
-Hoothoot
-Ledyba (SS)
-Pineco
-Spinarak (HG)

in tall grass-
-Hoothoot
-Pidgey
-Rattata
-Sentret

Obtainable Items
Potion
(After seeing Mr.Pokemon)
Grn Apricorn
(After discovering the theft)
Poke Ball x5

Step 1) Beat up other pokemon.
You are the coolest, badest 10-year-old here, so the only thing for you to do is beat things up. Lets start by walking around in the tall grass. Sooner or later a pokemon that doesn't notice how tough you are will teetle it's way into a battle with you. Use your Pokemon's attacks to defeat it and get EXP. Which lets your Pokemon get to a higher level.

Step 2) So kinda Tom-foolery.
So will walking the path of Route 29 you will come upon a large door that looks very tempting. Let me tell you now, "IGNORE IT!" Unless the Sentrets and Pidgeys were not enough, don't go in. There is just a bunch of Geodudes and crap. It may help you train, but you will waste less time if you don't go there.

Step 3) Go westward to Ye Ole Cherrygrove City.
To get to Mr. Pokemon's house and complete your errand for Professor Elm, take 29 all the way west. Go through Cherrygrove City until you reach Route 30. Don't go too quick. There is plenty of things there in the city.

See ya when we are in Cherrygrove City!

OTHER THINGS THAT GO ON HERE
After you discover the theft-
-Learn how to catch Pokemon.

Step 4) Your first trip to Walmart.
You may think that your Pokemon are all cool just because you are. WRONG! At anytime in a battle could an ailment come upon one of your pokemon. So go to the PokeMart and get some great things there with the money you do have.

Just as you go onto Route 30 the old guy will approach with more gibber-jabber. In the end he will give you the all mighty map. This is actually your friend in this game! When you are back tracking or there is a fork in the road, this is your Mother Teresa.

VIOLET CITY

Tips

-City from the past.
Violet City is know for many thing. One is how it doesn't change and it values it's past. That is why the rooks of the Mart and Center are different. They are the traditional colors of the rooms.

-How unfortunate for Falkner.
If you haven't notice the large cave as you arrive to Violet City, then you are blind. It is filled with rock type Pokemon! And the gym leader here is what type again? Yeah, it is flying! So to win easily catch a pokemon in the cave that has a rock typed attack and then it will be an easy win in the gym for you. You are welcome!

Obtainable pokemon
with headbutt-
-Exeggcute
-Hoothoot
-Pineco

with Old Rod-
-Magikarp
-Poliwag

with Good Rod-
-Magikarp
-Poliwag

while surfing-
-Poliwag
-Poliwhirl

Obtainable Items
Ylw Apricorn
(After Beating the Violet Gym)
Pal Pad
Pokemon Egg
TM51 Roost
Zephyr Badge
(After beating the Ecruteak Gym)
PP Up
Rare Candy

Step 1) Don't go to the gym.
I know you will want to just battle him and leave, but thats a no no in the Pokemon world. It always is... So just don't go there... Okay.

Step 2) The Pokemon School.
There's a Pokemon School on the east side of the city. But when you enter, you're stopped by a man with dark glasses. You can't battle the Gym unless you clear Sprout Tower first. After studying there, you can go to Sprout Tower.

Step 3) Trade the ever-appearing Bellsprout.
In Violet City Bellsprout are EVERYWHERE! So get one and go to the house near the Pokemon Center. A boy inside the house will give you an Onix for one of those annoying Bellsprout. Like I said earlier, a rock Pokemon would be great for this gym so this is the perfect chance.

Step 4) Take on Sprout Tower.
Come at me bro!

Sub-Guide 1: Sprout Tower

Recommended Items-
-Escape Rope
-Potion(s)
-Poke Ball (To get ahead and catch a Gastley)

Items-
Escape Rope
Parluz Heal
Potion
TM70 Flash
X Accuracy

Pokemon-
-Gastly (night)
-Rattata (everywhere)

Step 1
The Tower is full of Sages who challenge visitors to battle. All the Sages only use Bellsprout, so use your fire or flying typed pokemon to the top.

Step 2
Your rival is on 3f getting a lecture from Elder Li, but your rival isn't paying attention. It's obvious that he's here for the same reason you are. To battle Falkner.

Step 3
Talk to Elder and get Flash. He WILL want a battle first.

Step 4
Leave with Escape Rope.

GYM 1: Falkner the fly-guy.
POKEMON-
- Pidgey (Lv. 9)
- Pidgeotto (Lv. 13)

The gym has a simple layout. Take the elevator and follow the path to the leader. Before getting there you have to defeat two noobs with birds. His Pokemon are both flying. Look out for Pidgeotto, which uses Roost to recover HP. Fight him with rock or electric pokemon.

Zephyr Badge-
-Lets you use Rock Smash in the field.
-Pokemon u pto Lv. 20, even those received in trade, will obey you.

Off to Azalea Town! kinda.

OTHER THINGS THAT GO ON HERE
After beating the gym-
-A call from the Professor.
-Get the Egg from the Pokemart.
-You now have Wi-Fi.

I do like what you are doing here; it seems very thorough.

One thing I would recommend adding for future posts would be "Recommended items to bring" or "Required items for this part" for things like the caves or certain areas where you need a specific item to access. It definitely would make the guide even more thorough with its explanation.

AZALEA TOWN

Tips

-Crazy story from old guy.
That sounds a bit expected in this game, right? Well talk to him in his house, he says that a guy named Red had broken up Team Rocket 3 years ago. There is more to the story.

-Kurt makes Balls.
Kurts house is right above the Pokemon center, to the left. By bringing him Apricorns he will make Poke Balls for you.

-Beforehand prep.
Your Rival can challenge you even before you go to the gym. He will be waiting for you at the western gate. SO this will be an awesome way to level your team up before the Gym Battle.

-Charcoal for a burnt out man.
His house is adjacent to the gym. Once you've caught the stray Farfetch'd in the Ilex Forest, the man will give you Charcoal because he is greatful of your presence.

Obtainable Items
- Wht Apricorn
(After SLOWPOKE Well)
-Fast Ball
(After killing Bugsy)
-Hive Badge
-TM89 U-Turn
(After Ilex)
-Charcoal

Step 1) The return of Team Rocket.
As you enter Azalea Town, you see a man arguing with someone who claims to be from Team Rocket. The Grunt hurls the guy aside and block SLOWPOKE Well so that no one can get through.

Step 2) Talk to Kurt.
He is the towns Poke Ball guru. Rocket disbanded 3 years ago, but Kurt says they're back in business, cuting off and selling the tails of Slowpokes for the Well. HE'll leave, vowing to save the Slowpoke.

GYM 2: Dude looks like a lady, Bugsy.
POKEMON-
- Kakuna (Lv. 15)
- Metapod (Lv. 15
- Scyther (Lv. 17)

Us fire rock or flying types and you wil be fine. To reach him though is the hardest part, which is sad. YOu will figure it out easy though. Just step on a spider and pull some levers and you will be there in no time.

Hive Badge-
-Lets you use Cut in the field.
-Traded pokemon up to 30 will obey you.

SLOWPOKE WELL!

Obtainable Items
-Super Potion

Step 1) Do the work for Kurt.
Kurt is much too old for this, so being the good guy you are you are going to explore the Well and beat up the bad guys solo style.

Proton is an easy Team Rocket Executive. He has just 2 poison typed pokemon. A level 8 Zubat and a level 12 Koffing. They will be easy. Much easier than your up coming Rival battle.
