Gamecube controller of course! The Wii controller is kinda gimmicky since it has so few buttons, and the N64 controller's joystick is too painful (anyone who has played Mario Party knows the pain that comes with the "rotate the control stick games.") The 360 controller is probably in second, but it is just a smidge heavier than the Gamecube controller and not as easy to work with in my opinion.

With me I'd have to say the GameCube one. It's just so easy to use. The Wii Remote has too few buttons, as Alakazam said, The SNES controller hurts your finger when doing the Wiggler Trick, and for a controller to be the best I think it has to have a control stick, something which the SNES lacks. N64 controller is too complicated. I mean 3 handles (remember, you only have 2 hands!), 9 buttons, a D-Pad and a finger-hurting control stick. The GameCube has rubber on their control stick, added another one (The C-Stick, I guess to replace the N64's C buttons), kept the D-Pad, put in double-click shoulder buttons (Comes in a lot of handy for racing games), put in 4 extra buttons, and manages to fit it all on 2 handles. X-Box and X-Box 360 controllers have the buttons the wrong way around, PS1, PS2, and PS3 have the main control stick in the wrong place (which is frustrating on Sonic Heroes). GameCube wins.

Your Favorite Gaming Controller
With every new gaming consule comes a new kind of controller. They can be improved controllers of past predecessors or a completely new style such as a the wiimote. My favorite controller is the Gamecube controller.
I think this kind of controller is easy to handle and use. All buttons are useful in games and are easy to use. So what is your favorite controller? It can be any kind of controller; Wii Gamecube, PS2, Xbox 360, etc. |

I hate to sound like one of "those" gamers but I personally like the Xbox 360 controller best:
It just feels nice. The grips are nice to hold, the battery pack doesn't get in your way, the triggers have little resistance, and the sticks hold your thumbs perfectly. |

These 2 are my favorites. The 360 Controller has a nice feel, the Control Stick is on line with the buttons, and the triggers feel very nice, too. I feel all in to it whenever I use this controller. And then there's the Kinect. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. What a genius idea they came up with.

I've always been a huge fan of the Gamecube controllers. They fit into my hands perfectly, and the button layout of A,B,X,Y feels natural to me.
My least favorite was the N64 controllers. Those things were way too bulky for me and the control sticks were hard to master. |

I don't think the mouse + keyboard combo counts. So if it doesn't I'd personally have to say I prefere the GameCube controller, but I do like the feel of both the 360 and Playstation controllers. Really as long as I can hit the buttons I need, I'm okay with any... Although motion controls I'm not a complet fan of.

Definitely a question I've never thought about. I'd have to say the purple GameCube controller. It looks nice and its size is perfect for people with large and small hands alike so that it easily fits into someone's hands and all the buttons and controls are within comfortable reach of your thumbs and index fingers.
Although, for visual designs only, NES is my favorite because it simply looks nice and nostalgic. |

And to get off the topic of console controllers, my favorite handheld control scheme! (Even though there's only about 8 or 9 to choose from)
The 3DS is my favorite because, again, the Circle Pad is on line with the basic ABXY buttons, and the circle pad is really comforting to me. Switching to the D-Pad when necessary is nice, the (sometimes nonfunctional) shoulder buttons feel a bit better slightly popped out, and the Start and Select buttons, while it might take some getting used to, are conveniently placed and have the Home button wedged in there smoothly, too. The only thing I wish they could change is the position of the Mic. Most people don't even know it's there. |

Oh, the nostalgia route. I guess I could take that and go on to say how good my PlayStation DualShock controller is, but it isn't at all. I think all PS controllers suck and feel awkward in my hands. But one thing that was handy about them was the button to turn off the large and sometimes annoying Analog Sticks.
Following nostalgia, the one I'd have to say was the best is the GameCube. It feels good, especially the perfect Wavebird, and if any Wii game has GameCube compatibility, I'm all over it. |
