Default Decking Out KDE: Windows 3/2000/Something

Last weekend while stranded in Wisconsin (...and or enjoying Easter dinner), I decided to pass the time throwing the following experiment together with KDE 4.6. The first screenshot enables Anti-Aliasing, the other two don't.

(Partially inspired by two of Cat's recent projects, meanwhile.)

Don't knock VLC until you can't find a really obscure codec. Also, it has ossim visual mods.

What's first on the FW Agenda? And what is the machine's ultimate purpose?
