What's the deal with the ads saying we're gonna win the World Cup, we never win.

Okay, since I never saw this thread, I didn't know it existed...

Anyways, the 2010 World Cup kicks off tomorrow (June 11th, 2010) with the following matches:

-South Africa vs Mexico (16:00, GMT +2) in Johannesburg.
-Uruguay vs France (20:30, GMT +2) in Cape Town.

Who do you think will win from the two matches? Let's start the discussion!

Mexico and France.

Mexico is straight up good at Soccer.
I kinda had to guess at the other set. Not really sure yet.

I actually felt the opposite. It's kinda hard to decide who's going to win the first match, but I randomly choose Mexico . As for the second match, I'm 95% sure it's France.

France is going to win in the match. I am going to watch this match.

Mexico vs. South Africa ended up in a tie of 1-1. That's good, I guess.

Anyway, I am with Spain & Brazil this year!

Uruguay vs. France ended up again as a tie. The result was 0-0.
I never expected that from France.

The next game is going to start after 3 hours and 18 minutes between Greece and South Korea. I expect S. Korea to win.

More results:
Serbia 0:1 Ghana

I'm quite surprised France tied with Uruguay and England tied with USA. I expected the countries in bold to win. Also, the Nigerian goalkeeper was just amazing; he kept on pissing Messi off by defending the goal from his kicks.

I cheer for Brazil, Spain and England this World Cup. England not as much as the others though.

During the England Vs USA match yesterday, ITV put on ads when England scored. They've been forced to apologize.

Japan won against Cameroon with the same score that Spirit posted - 1:0.

Also, the first half of the match between Italy and Paraguay just ended, with a score of 1:0 for Paraguay (to my surprise).

1- I heard the Spanish team was payed to lose to Switzerland. Is that true?
2- Argentina crushed the Korean team with such a score. Well done!
3- Poor Africans. First the South Africans lost, and now Nigeria.

France just got in by a handball that the ref didn't even see, I'm not suprised they are doing so poorly, but my team is Ivory Coast, I was hoping for more than a tie against Portugal, but hey, there's always Brazil right?

I am only happy that Villa, one of my favorite players took Spain, my favorite team along with Brazil, to the track again after their unexpected loss.

The next match is Germany vs. Ghana. Although I hate it, but I think Germany will win.

*bumps this thread*

Yesterday's match was amazing. Spain ended up victorious, while it was a tie between Portugal & Brazil.

I am glad that my favorite teams; Spain & Brazil are in the top 16.

Today's matches are USA vs. Ghana & Uruguay vs. S. Korea.
I expect USA & Uruguay to win.

Actually, the game between Brazil and Portugal was really disappointing. It had a lot of fouls and it ended up as a negative tie (0-0). Moreover, the Portuguese players were better than the Brazilian ones, which was a surprise to me.
As for the Spain-Chile match, I expected Spain to win by a greater difference. However, it doesn't really matter since it already got qualified to the second round.

Anyways, the second round is going to be interesting, unlike the first one; Germany vs England and Spain vs Portugal are two matches I'm looking forward to.

As I expected, Uruguay won the match. It was going to be a tie, but glad it didn't work like that.

The next match is USA's. Again, I expect it to win.

As Japan being a large part of my geneology, I am very upset!

Why the sent a frakin' DEFENDER to do the penalty kick, I have no friggin' clue! (>_<*)""/"" GRAHHH! ANGER! JAPAN STILL COULD HAVE WON!!!

Both US AND JAPAN are out now! I honestly don't see a point to be excited as much about this cup...*sadness*
Finally! a brother of like-minded hood!

I'm really very excited because of Germany's impressive victory over England and Spain's victory over Potugal. Germany is doing amazing so far, Spain could use some improvements and Brazil is playing good, but not over-the-top. I still support Germany, Brazil and Spain, and I hope they do well in the quarter finals. The match between Germany and Argentina is going to be epic, or at least I hope so.

Here are what I predict the semi-finalists to be:
-Brazil
-Ghana
-Spain
-Germany

Heck. The real World Cup finally started for me now.

I guess Germany winning is good as far as my geneology goes. It's the second biggest piece of my geneological records(12.5% German, second to 75% Japanese. But they lost already).

Well, since they're doing well, they might as well run with it and win. ^-^

Brazil lost against Netherlands? What a shock! I didn't expect that at all.

I hate you, too
But seriously, Germany OWNS - they're playing the best so far. Their goals were AWESOME against Argentina. In your face, you overrated Messi!

Spain struggled against Paraguay, surprisingly - I expected a higher score.
Although I like both teams, I think I'm going with Germany over Spain because they've been playing better throughout the world cup. If either of them loses, I won't feel bad. Nevertheless, I hope Germany wins

Spain is known to win with few goals. However, you need to remember that Spain isn't an easy team. It is definitely stronger than Argentina. Spain is known for its team work, and also, it is Europe's champion. In 2008, it won against Germany 1-0. Back then, I cheered for Spain, and now, I will do that same.

As disappointing as it is, Germany lost to Spain by a score of 0-1. The German team didn't play as great as it did in the rest of the World Cup. However, I'm not sad that Spain won because I originally cheer for it. Plus, it played WAY better than Germany in the match, so they definitely deserved to win.

I hope Spain defeats Netherlands and gets the cup.

That 4-1 loss makes us look a bit stupid now. Thanks, Spain.

I think Spain'll win. Either way, we're gonna have a new victor this year. Neither of the teams have ever been in the finals before.

Sorta the same reason I'm going for Spain (except I'm only 1/16 Spanish) I was going for Germany before (I'm 1/8 German) and Japan before that (3/4 Japanese), but as both of them are out, Spain is my only shot left. -_-

Now ten minutes in to extra time... And it's still 0-0.

I've got a feeling this may head to penalties... Which I can't bear to watch...

EDIT: SPAIN SCORED! Four minutes remain!

EDIT 2: SPAIN WIN! After 32 minutes of extra time, it's over and Spain have won!

Congratulations to Spain for winning the World Cup! Their performance, in my opinion, was amazing and they deserved this victory! I'm glad I supported them since the beginning, and I hope they maintain their high standards to reach even greater heights in the future. On a different note, my top 3 players in this World Cup were Casillas, David Villa and Thomas Muller. I'm going to miss the atmosphere of the World Cup and the excitement associated with it. It was so much fun.

I didn't really have any feelings for either team, but I was rooting for Spain a bit since I knew a cool foreign exchange student from there.
