Default How do you pronounce "Pokémon"?

It might be a bit of a weird thing to ask, but it just crossed my mind, and everyone pronounces it differently.

The OFFICIAL way is Poe-kay-mon because that's what the accent is for, but that's too much work for me. Poe-kee-mon sounds pretty stupid, like saying Mare-ee-oh for Mario. Poe-keh-mon sounds natural, and it's fast to say.

Poe-Kee-Mans.
Pokey-Men.
Garmented Creatures.

But really. It's a tie between Poe-Keh-Mon and Poe-Key-Mon.

I usually say "Poe-key-mon" when I pronounce it, but sometimes it comes out as "Poe-kAy-mon."

I pronounce it in all three different ways depending on where it comes up in a sentence

For example. If I were to say the word Pokemon, it would be pronounced the 2nd way.
If I were to say, "I like to play pokemon," it would come out the first way.
However, in the the same position as the last one, if I were to say "Who's your favorite pokemon?" it would come out as the last one. It all depends on the context of which I say it.

I say Poh-Keh-Mon. It's how I grew up with. Then overtime, I also say "Poh-Kee-Mon", although rare.

As a result of my French background, I always say it Poe-kay-mon. That's what the accent does to change to pronunciation of the "e" in French, so I just let my French pronunciation take over... I can tolerate when people say Poe-keh-mon, but I find myself unable to stand when they say Poe-kee-mon...

Finally! This question has been bothering me forever (though I have forgot about it over time but now it is back!). I am glad I am with the majority because that would have been a little confusing otherwise.

I've said Pokeymon all my life.
However.
I played and beat BandW and BandW2. Still hate Unova, but in Roxie's gym they play this catchy song.
P O K E M ON, POGAYMON!

So I had that in my head for a couple weeks and now I say pogaymon.

So who was the 1 person who put "other"? I'm just curious on how they say it. I say Pokeemon...kind of ignore the accent making it Pokaymon though Although I have been known to say ay or uh instead of ee from time to time, but it's rare.

Default Pokemon or Pokémon

When saying the word Pokemon, do you pronounce the e as poh-kee-mon or less tense or pok-e-mon.

In case you wondering why I'm doing this it's because I need to write a paper for linguistics so please post.

Could've sworn we already had a thread for pronunciation...

Pretty sure most if not all Pokémon players pronounce it as pok-e-mon

Anyone who doesn't play the game or has never seen it before most likely pronounces it as p o-kee-mon. (like my mom)

Then there's the rare instance of saying poh-kay-mon

I feel like the only time I've heard anyone call it "poe-KEY-mon" is in the "official" videos and stuff . . .

Anyway, I've caught myself calling it "polka-mon" a lot recently for some reason. Don't ask.

Yeah, I pronounce it "poh-key-mon." Seriously, how the heck can you say "poh-kay-mon" regularly? It doesn't sound right in English.

It is correctly pronounced "poh-kay-mohn," but it's not that easy to say while speaking English.

The correct way is to stress the accent, po-kay-mon, but that doesn't roll off the tongue well in conversation. The way that feels most comfortable is Polka-mon or Pok-eh-mon. The incorrect way is to pretend that there is no accent , pok-ee-mon.

It's easy to say it like po-kay-mon to me, I just feel like a big dork whenever I say it, it sounds so stupid. I usually say po-keh-mon or po-kee-mon, that's how I've always said it.

On this note, was anyone bothered by the varies ways it was pronounced in the dub of the Origin series? Especially with Red's voice... Blugh. I haven't seen any new anime stuffs and I couldn't possibly remember from the first season, sooo....

Poe-keh-mon

It is very simple and easy to say. Like someone said previously, Poe-kee-mon is like saying Mar-eeh-oh for Mario. It was just how I said it and my friends who play it say it the same way. It's cool seeing how other people say it, though.
