Default Victory Road's Official Gym League Guide (READ THIS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING)

Welcome to Victory Road's Official Gym League Guide!

This guide aims at introducing the new, innovative Gym League system to Victory Road forums, as well as outlining the rules needed to make/challenge a Gym.
Please take the time to read it all.

*Overview of the Mechanics*

The Victory Road Gym League consists of 8 Gyms, each one for a specific type. A person willing to become a Gym Leader of a specific type has to apply in the “Gym Leader Application Thread”, using the standard format provided there. This application has to be approved by a member of the Gym League staff (abbreviated as GL staff, listed in the end) before the member can proceed to make his/her own Gym. Application is made available when a vacancy arises only.

The system works on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis; if a person already owns a Gym, another person cannot apply for that same type. But, if multiple people apply for the same type, the Gym League staff will choose the best applicant according to the information submitted and/or by means of a test battle.
In order to give a chance to all members, if a person is able to defeat all the Gym Leaders successfully, he/she has a chance to replace any Gym Leader according to his/her wish. Alternatively, if you are the winner of 2 Pokémon tournaments held at Victory Road, you have a choice of substituting a random Gym Leader or not.

*Pokémon Gyms*

-Gym Leader Position

1) Applying to become a Gym Leader:

Spoiler Alert:
To apply for a Gym Leader title, all you have to do is copy the format provided in the “Gym Leader Application Thread”, and then replace it with your own information. This application form has to be approved by a member of the GL staff. Remember, the first person to apply for a certain type and be approved gets to make the Gym. Therefore, if one Gym spot is taken, it cannot be taken by another member.
Another method in which you are able to become a Gym Leader is by being the winner of 2 Pokémon tournaments. In such a case, you can substitute a random Gym Leader, and take his position.

2) Creating your Gym:

Spoiler Alert:
Once your Gym application has been approved, you are set to create your own Gym. This is simply done by making a new thread in the area designated for Gyms, with the title clearly mentioning the type you represent (follow this structure: Gym #[number] - [Type]). In the thread, the following points have to be included:

-Brief introduction (including type being represented)

-Rules of the Gym (including reference to the forums’ rules)
This includes the standard clauses, which are explained later on.

-Battling style (6 vs. 6, level 100, single battle)
Two other important things which should be included as part of the battling style are:

1) Whether you will conduct Gen IV battles or not
2) If yes, then on what (DS or Pokémon (DISALLOWED) or both).

-Gym badge
When a gym leader is defeated, the challenger is awarded the gym’s badge. This is represented by a small icon. You have to give the badge a suitable name. Badge images may be up to 75x75 pixels, preferably with a transparent background (the badge will be re-sized to 32x32 pixels later on).

-Prize Pokémon/Item
The prize Pokémon and/or item(s) that the challenger would get if he defeats the Gym Leader. Try to make it attractive, since this will appeal people to challenge you.

-Status of Gym (open for challengers, temporarily closed, etc)

3) Rules:

Spoiler Alert:
-A Gym Leader is NOT to post his team in his Gym. No one must know of his team.

-No hacked Pokémon is to be used.
If you are caught with illegal Pokémon, you will be immediately disqualified of your position, and probably get infracted and/or banned for a specific time.

-No Ubers are to be used.

-The standard clauses of a gym:

The Sleep Clause
A person cannot make 2 Pokémon fall asleep in his opponent's team at the same time.
Example:
Person A made his opponent's Horsea asleep using his Pokémon.
Person B withdrew Horsea, and sent out Lanturn.
Person A CANNOT make that Lanturn asleep until the Horsea wakes up.

Sleeping being caused by Effect Spore or Rest are disconsidered from Sleep Clause.

The Species Clause
You cannot have 2 similar Pokémon in your team. Example: You cannot have 2 Starmies in your team.

The Evasion Clause
Moves that increase evasion cannot be used, including Acupressure.

OHKO Clause
OHKO Moves are strictly not allowed. They are Guillotine, Horn Drill, Fissure and Sheer Cold.

-The Gym Leader has to send a copy of his team (including the held items, nature, moves, and EVs) to all GL staff members (when applying).

-You can only be a Leader for one type of Pokémon, and so you can only be a leader for one Gym only.

-In case of deciding to close your Gym permanently, you must inform the responsible GL mod(s) about it.

-Your team must consist of at least 3 Pokémon of the type you are representing, with the others related to/supporting them. Those 'cover' Pokémon have to be:
1) Covering your type's weakness.
AND/OR
2) Acting as a wall.
AND/OR
3) Laying hazards.
AND/OR
4) Having a move of your type.

-Competitor Position: Instructions & Rules

Spoiler Alert:
[I]-To battle a specific Gym Leader, a post has to be made in his/her Gym (and, if preferred by the Gym Leader, a PM has to be sent to, too).

-No hacked Pokémon is to be used.
If you are caught using hacked Pokémon, you will be immediately disqualified, infracted and possibly banned for a limited time.

-No Ubers are to be used.

-You must comply with the rules and standard clauses of the Gym (Sleep clause, Evasion clause, Species clause, OHKO clause).

-You can battle the Gyms in any order.

-In case you win a Gym Leader, you are awarded the Gym badge.

-If you lose to a Gym Leader, you have to wait for 96 hours until you can challenge him/her again. You don’t have to repeat all the Gyms if you lose to one of them.

-You cannot make teams which completely or directly counter the Gym Leader. The Gym Leaders can easily identify such teams.
(Example: You can’t make a team full or mostly constituent of Water Pokémon against the Fire Gym)

*Other General Points*

-The current Gym League (GL) staff members are Shadow, Alakazamaster and Ningamer.
-Respect each other. Do not go mocking a member/Gym Leader when you defeat him/her.
-The challenger and the Gym Leader have to agree about the results of the battle before they are posted.
-Any problem/dispute occurring between 2 people is reported to a GL staff, who will take the right decision and settle the matter in a sensible and fair way.
-If a person disconnects while battling, don’t get mad immediately. Ask for the reason why that happened. Some routers have weak signals and don’t support a big range.
-Any violation to the rules mentioned throughout will result in serious consequences, including infractions and possibly bans.

*Special Thanks*

-Ningamer, for creating the Gym badges for all Gym Leaders.
-FreezeWarp, for creating the Badges Page.
-Cat333Pokémon, for taking care of random things related to the Gym League.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read the guide. I hope you all enjoy the Gym League!
