The starters of Pokemon Black & White are revealed!
Serebii revealed today the first 3 starters. As usual, fire, water and grass are the types of the starters. Serebii also mentioned that the two main characters of the games are elder than usual, giving us a hint that Pokemon is finally growing up. Apart from that, Serebii promised to have the names soon.
Interested anyone? Here are some pictures: The names are possibly, as posted on PokéBeach, ツタージャ, ポカブ, and ミジュマル, which are Tsutaaja, Pokabu, and Mijumaru. Many thanks to PokéBeach for additional info! Here's a video: Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; May 12, 2010 at 01:38:00 PM. |

The girl is pretty cute, except for her...Dolly Parton or something hair doo.
And I thought the green one's silhouette would've been either fire or leaves, so I was 50% right. I'm guessing with the colors, the water one'll be Water/Ice in later evolutions(as well as looking like a Polar Bear Pokemon), the grass one being Grass/Electric(looks pretty salamander to me...Charizard-like grass Pokemon, hmm?). And the Fire one being Fire/Dark later in it's line, no clue how a pig would evolve twice however(and not look ugly). =\ |

And i'm thinking of getting all the starters in my team in B/W, just obtaining then trading should get me them all easily, unless I see the Pokemon list and decide to swap them. I'll also base my main starter choice after it's evolutions instead of it's baby version. Last edited by OMGITSJAD; May 12, 2010 at 07:22:09 AM. |

Well, the trainers never really looked 10 to me, maybe Red in R/B/Y or Gold in G/S/C, but people like Brendan/May and the male trainer(and Dawn somewhat) from D/P/Pt. don't seem that young to me, maybe 14, 15, or 16, but not 10. :/

I guess I predicted ALL the types wrong!
Two of the Pokemon look awesome: The grass and fire one. I hate the water one, it looks like it's wearing a fluffy coat (Because there's no way that shell pattern could come naturally). And honestly, what the HECK is up with the girl's hair?! Also, I was just looking at the full scans on Pokebeach -

I like it. It is very cool.
Also, the water starter looks more of a Bibarel than a Piplup for me. If the fire starter is also electric, then it will be a good resistant to water. Also, have you noticed the new flamethrower, or is this a new move? |

Okay, let's start with the starters:
-The Grass-type starter looks awesome to me. This is probably the first time I ever like a Grass-type starter. -The Fire-type starter looks cute, but I hope I'll like its evolution(s), too; Grumpig, which resembles a pig/swine the most in all the 4 generations, isn't a favourite Pokémon of mine (not with its ugliness). However, I hope I'm mistaken because I love the colour scheme on the new starter. -The Water-type starter looks... alright to me. Compared to the others, it looks kind of weird. Although I'm a bit underwhelmed by its colour scheme, I'll still hold off to see what its final evolution will be like. On the overall, the starters are not spectacular, but they are still amazing. The 4th generation starters looked better, in my opinion. Anyways, I hope their evolutions show a more interesting approach with good dual typings. Now to add my comment about the protagonists and the new region: I'm really excited about those two trainers. Not only do they look amazing, but we've been told they're to be older than usual. This sparks a hope in myself that Pokémon games will present a (somewhat) more mature insight directed at the older fans. Now, judging from the city displayed in the scan, the region looks more modern and appealing to me. Although I'm not a fan of its name (which I don't know how to pronounce yet), I think it will be an awesome region. Last edited by Shadow; May 14, 2010 at 03:20:27 AM. |

I thought you were wrong... D: The new region looks very urbanized instead of the old forest/green of old...we might be getting a more present-day like look! *waits for Pokémon Sunday to waste a "reveal" next week then 3 weeks later finally do another 5 seconds of walking or maybe show the region map. |

Here are some high-resolution scans of June`s leaked pages regarding Pokemon Black and White:
Spoiler Alert:
Spoiler Alert:
Dilster3000 already put up the second scan, so just check out the first. The region's name is Isshu (イッシュ). It`s location is described as "very far away". The main characters in these games are somewhat older, they are not children. Additional information that`s been revealed around the internet which I managed to pick up (Though they aren`t 100% confirmed yet, mainly gotten from the 2ch Imageboards): Zoroark`s battle ability`s called "Illusion" (Pretty fitting, isn`t it?), it allows it to take on the form of the Pokemon it`s battling, which explains it`s abilities in Gen`ei no Hasha:Zoroark (Confirmed) The starter`s names are Tsutaaja (The grass type starter on the left-Pronounced "Soo-TA-jaa"), Pokabu (The fire starter in the middle that resembles a pig, pronounced "Poke-a-boo"), and Mijumaru (the Water-type starter on the right, pronounced "Me-JOO-ma-roo", similar to the "maru" in Fukamaru (Gible), which means "round") The city shown in the first scan I posted is called Hiun City. Also, new attacks that have been revealed are "Claw Sharpen", which raises Attack and Accuracy, and "Trickery", which damages the opponent depending on it`s stats. (Confirmed) Finally, the secret "event" triggered by the Shiny Suicune, Entei, and Raikou from Gen`ei no Hasha:Zoroark has been revealed. If you trade one to Black and/or White, you get the chance to battle a level 25 Zoroark. The Zoroark will take the form of whichever one you chose to bring to B/W, and you`ll have to wait for it to change back to it`s original form to catch it. (Confirmed) So far, sounds like these games are going to be full of awesome new twists xD Oh yeah, here`s a picture of the starters outside of the scans, in case you want a better look at them: Last edited by AuraKshatriya; May 12, 2010 at 12:25:42 PM. |

Not the right place... =.= I do have to say her short-shorts look weird...why are those wing like flaps needed? (although she is pretty cute, I might actually make her my character in B/W, I like her look better than the boy's.) |

I'm not going to lie, I don't much care for the Grass-type this time. The eyes just seem... discomforting. I like both the Fire-type and the Water-type alot, and I'm not sure which one to pick! I might go for Fire this time, which I never do.
All in all, I like these new Pokemon! So far so good Game Freak! |

I am now worried, because it seems that the creators are running out of ideas (although it seemed that way after the first, second, third, and fourth generation, too). The grass(/electric?) starter seems cool, the fire starter is OK, and the water starter is also average. I'm worried that this might be the last generation, although I hope it isn't.

I'm with Kazam. The Grass Type's eyes are somewhat discomforting. I find the other ones cute, though (Don't flame me! 3: ) I'll probably decide which one to choose when I see the Final Evolutions though

IRON MAN CRITIQUES: The BW Starters and Protagonists
Grass starter- Looks like a small lizard or chameleon. Takes me back to Treeko. And boy was Treeko awesome. Fire starter- ...a pig. It's a freakin' pig. ...Okay. How a pig can be associated with Psychic, I can understand, shockingly. (Pigs are actually very intelligent animals) How it can be associated with fire... What, is it implied that it'll cook itself and provide its trainer with bacon? Water starter- I don't even know what this thing is. It looks a lot like an otter, which is kinda neat since we haven't had one of those in Pokemon before, so props for creativity. But the color scheme looks awful. Protagonists- Headgear? Check. Baseball caps on Pokemon protagonists makes 'em look kickass. Bags? Check. Satchels remind me a lot of RSE, and Brendan's design was awesome. Hair? Check. Female protagonist needs to cut her bangs though. Nice ponytail. And the dude's got slick hair too. Coats? Check. Reminds me of the DPP clothing, too. Age? They're NOT 10 year old kids? They're teenagers? Yus. Check. In short, protagonists look awesome, fire starter looks lame, grass starter looks awesome, water starter is a very unique design choice. |

Cyndaquil = Echidna Torchick = Chicken Chimchar = Chimpanzee Only one that slightly makes sense is charmander because its final evo is a dragon. Last edited by Sunny; May 12, 2010 at 03:12:25 PM. |

The grass starter looks cool. I like the way its eyes are. It looks calm and sleepy. The fire starter looks kind of cool to me. I don't really care though. The water starter I don't like at the beginning stage but if it has cool evolutions I might get it. Right now I am thinking of getting grass starter. B/W is gonna be my first game where I get a grass starter though.

This is just my opinion, i am quite disappointed they look pretty crappy I think they are starting to run out of ideas seriously.
I would still get the game if i was to choose out of the starters I would get the Fire type I have a strong feeling that it would end up a Fire/Psychic in its final evo stage. Water seems like it would end up a Water/Ice in its final stage. Grass that would be suprising to find what secondary type it would have it does end up with one that is. |

Here's a scale out of 10 for every starter: Grass: 8/10 Fire: 8.5/10 Water: 7.5/10 Those are very likely to change when the evolutions are revealed. Quote:
