Default Let out all your critique!

I'm not a perfect admin, nor is Yoshi or KingOfKYA. And I know the staff isn't perfect. Of course, Victory Road isn't perfect either.

If there is anything wrong with this site, PLEASE let us know. Is a staff member being too strict? Point them out! I know some of you are shy in telling us due to fear of offending us. Do not be afraid; just tell us what's wrong.

Now, please do not point out four things, because I am already well aware of them:
- The default vBulletin skin (the Zam ones were added and a new Floatzel one is being worked on for the default)
- The server downtime (blame Fivebean, we're moving soon)
- Adoptables
- The chatroom lagging/logging out/etc. (this is connected with #2)

Staff members, please do not delete any posts that seem like another staff is being harped on for not doing duties. That is the purpose of this topic.

(is not sure if the Pokédoptables page counts)
After I adopt a Pokémon, it tells me at the bottom; "Be sure and". Be sure and what? Add it to my signature so it can level up faster?

*adds adoptables to the list of things not to discuss*

This topic isn't for typos. It's for major errors.

Spirit of time over mods.
Not to be rude or anything, but a topic that has a question that has been answered, can be locked, but when the topic is still providing a good conversation (that other mods are participating in, BTW) and the topic being discussed is perfectly on target with the question, even though the question has been answered, the topic shouldn't be locked just because the question was answered.
(different instance)
I realize that we have spam guidelines, and I respect those guidelines, but if the Basis of the thread is being followed and it's merely a simple question, the question and the answer to it need not be deleted. There is a difference between (in a thread about your future PKMN team) I want X on my team, but I don't know how to get him? (and someone answering the question) vs. someone posting "I LIEK HOTDOGS!!!"

(off of SoT)

And the rule on Internet acronyms makes me lol (pun intended). Honestly, there is no reason to ban the usage of lol, rofl, xD, idk, idc, and other such acronyms. As I've told other mods, there is a HUGE difference between a post that reads:
"I can't believe he did that, lol."
and one that reads:
"OMG, Liek srsly, he is soooooo stuuuupiD! LOLOLOLOLROFLMAO. NE1 shoud no not 2 do dat crap liek dat LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!1!!!!!ONEONE!!!"

In my opinion, your banning the wrong thing. Don't ban the acronyms, but rather ban the excessive use of them.

That is all I can think of at the moment.

We're discussing this rule in the mod board. We're probably going to revise it to allow their usage, but not outside of context (i.e., you cannot just tack "lol" to the end of any sentence lol).

As for topic locking, topics don't get locked very often. Only stuff like the tournament boards, where we lock topics about setting up rules after the tournament, and creating new topics when one already exists. Would you mind providing a few examples?

There are a LOT of locked topics outside of the tournament board.
Open your eyes.
Mostly to prevent spam on the threads, it seems.
"kotone's english name has been revealed, so I'll lock this to prevent further spam"
How about leaving it open so we can talk about our opinions about kotone's english name?

Anyways, trying to find the one now...cant remember exactly where it is though.

http://www.victoryroad.net/showthread.php?t=1773
There it is...still providing good conversation on the subject matter, and randomly locked in the middle of it.

You seem to not be understanding the point of this topic. It's not for discussing page errors and stuff. It's to be discussing how the site is run. Are we too strict? Too lax? Too crazy?

I think the site overall is pretty good, lots of members get on and it seems fairly active however the 503 errors are quite annoying and the c-box isn't like xat or chatango in the fact that those are like on constant reload, which the one here reloads a little late. THats all the critic I have

The 503 problems will be fixed soon. Neither I nor KingOfKYA are quite sure why they occur.

As for the chatroom problems, check out this link:
http://www.victoryroad.net/showthread.php?t=1882
I'm coding my own version of the chatroom, which will allow people to talk from their computers without the problems of reloading and being dropped off. It will be similar to IRC, but not quite the same.

Yea the problem with that is for people like me whose parents don't want us to download stuff (including XP or Vista) onto our Macs (or computers in general) that really wont work...

We're working on it.

For now, other than server issues and downtime, what else is wrong with the site?

So far the site's server has been working all day for me. No 503s and no 417s. I won't say the server is fixed cause it might jinx it. (Hehe Jynx it) *shot*

Ah I've been looking for this thread.

Mods: If you infract a user, please do not make a "warning post" as these are off-topic and embarrases the user. However, if enough users are breaking that same rule in the same thread, that is a good time to make a warning as it is necessary in that case.

Other than that tiny part, the site seems good.

I find it really a peeve that we can't advertise other stuff. I just wanted to do a
let's play on Mystery Dungeon red (by Ustream or youtube), but I'm not going to make a post until: I feel safe knowing I can post it without "taking away from your popularity." Trust me, I want the best for Victory Road.

You can advertise those as long as you're not advertising a forum.

Okay, time for a bump. Anything else you think is wrong? (Remember, don't discuss the downtime.)

So I was checking the forum leaders page, and why so many people with staff positions? Surely we don't need so many with a forum this size.
